Chapter 1 - THE PROLOGUE: Part I

In a country ruled by monarchy, the Taurus country has a unique system that places them as the "country of the masses" above all the 12 countries in the Tri Petre continent. It also stood out among the 5 continents as well. People were risking it all to live here due to their rapid development and flawless governance. Candidates, who want a chance to rule, are chosen from different indigenous families across the country, to contest for the crown through a tournament that lasts for 2 years, checking out their strengths, strategies and thoughts. The winner at the end of the tournament is chosen as the monarch. This event was called "The Tournament of Bulls"

In the year 5106, the tournament for the position of the 92nd King began.

The commentators declared to the arena together, "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR...WELCOME...TO THE TOURNAMENT OF BULLS!!!" The crowd's cheers filled the sea-sized stadium. A young girl who was in the stands, bawling in her worries looked up to see confetti coming down as rain. A young mother of 3 behind her put a flower made of confetti in her hair. She looked back and the woman used her hands to draw a smile on her face and saying, "Smile, little one. You're too young to worry". She completely forgot the reason for her tears as she's never seen an event like this before. It was a free event but since a king lasted 'till he dies, it was an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Krysta; from the house of Cauldrin entered the competition, hoping to prove that women don't need to aid men to have power of their own. She was certain of her victory. She wasn't called the "Ice Princess" for nothing. Her crystal clear demeanour and her skills in several fields like martial arts, fencing, music and strategy, made her undefeatable by her colleagues during the tournament.

The present monarch; King Hearthorn Gerald III was eager to see who will be victorious between his adopted son, Lucien and Krysta; the "Ice Princess". With Lucien, having the power to control the mind, it should be easy to overthrow Krysta, who had the power to turn any liquid into crystals, ice and snow.

"The first event is the duel. After all, a king gotta fight himself, right, Yulia?"

"Yes, Charles, the first contestants are here and buy, they look like a spectacle from an action scene". The first commentator spoke again, "On the left, we have Leonard Evans. Even in the sunlight, his dark skin still shines! He looks like a hot fudge, wrapped in gold foil!!" "Charles, look at those muscles coming out of that light tee. Mmhm, delectable" "some used to say, comfort over fashion but he says why not both" Charles let out a manly laugh "Now now" Yulia rebottled, "Don't scare away our angel on the right, Krysta Cauldrin" "Ah yes, the Ice Princess. What a radiant beauty. Even though she's dressed like a mercenary, she's still a hot catch. I mean, look at those curves" "stop it. You don't say that to a lady. Well, I guess she isn't hearing me. Anyway, the match is about to start. Quiet".

The arena grew silent. Krysta's confidence was largely shown, she put jewels in her shiny blue hair; reflecting all the light and even wore a fancy sleeveless silver slim-fitted dress. She walked up to the opponent and offered a handshake but he spat on the ground beside her feet like a thug. In her mind, she renounced "So annoying".

Once the gun was fired, her opponent took off like a rocket hurled at her. Yet, it only took a weave to the left. Leo ~ for short ~ became enraged and tried again and again but frankly, all it took was a slight weave. She barely left where she was standing. Her opponent looked towards the stand and a mysterious man met his gaze.

Suddenly, Krysta felt a sharp numb pain in her ankles as if she was shot by needles. She assumed that it was a sprain from her rigorous early morning training but she carried on. As though struck by lightning, Leo resorted to a kick to her diaphragm and she landed hard on the ground. "Ah ha ha so, the mighty snow queen can fall so low" he said in a gruff tone. He stomped on her like an insect in his path as he mocked. At first, the crowd mocked her openly and cheered Leo but that got boring soon because, Krysta did not make a single move

As expected, Leo ran out of breath. He stopped stomping on her and stepped back, wiping of his sweat with a cloth given to him by a lady from the stands. "Are you done?" came a suddenly devilish voice. Leo felt the ground under his feet rumble and did a backflip just in time. Krysta got up haggardly as she spoke in that devilish tone. Her silver malevolent eyes were fixed on her prey like a whit tiger. In a spine shivering second, Krysta landed a fatal blow to Leo's right arm, severing it right off. The crowd gasped and great silence followed, Krysta's bloody arm was her only weapon all this time.

At the Royal Seating, the king and his family watched this scene unfold Lucien let out a whiff of smoke from his cigar. "Luc, you're in for it" his half-brother, Edward commented but Lucien shrugged it off which made Ed's blood boil. Krysta felt her ear itch and turned to face the royals. She slowly grinned while waving her blood-stained arm but stopped and blew a kiss at Lucien who was the only man who'd understand that utterly cringe motion. As other saw an affectionate friendship, but Lucien saw a threat. Her family and The Cauldrin Knights approached her as she left the field. They were neither bewildered nor confused about her rapid healing rate. The health equipment's were useless at this point. Crystals have grown all over her injuries.

Her parents watched her with puppy eyes as she clearly didn't need them. She did not like the idea of leaving them hanging so she picked up an ice pack but her attention shifted to the boy cornered by hefty men. The young man was in a knight's uniform that was probably ruined by those bullying him. He seemed like an enigma who'd make a lot of enemies just for his silence. As soon as the bullies left, the lad slumped to his knees. He looked up with the bangs covering his green eyes

"Thank you, thank you so much" he cried out for everyone backstage to hear. He began to hurl out and cry "My saviour, "

During Krysta's last match, her jaw dropped when she realized that she was up against Lucien Hearthorn, whom she hasn't seen in quite a while, in 'Territory squat' after she duels him. She was at a disadvantage here. If she looses to Lucien, she's have to make up for it during territory squat

Territory squat is a challenge that involves showcasing leadership skills. Each participant is given a part of a city and must improve its current state by a minimum of 20% without using their wealth or influence.

Before the duel, she felt nervous because she could never defeat him at anything physical. Plus, He is such an ikemen! As they stood in the arena, Lucien; Krysta's friendly rival, knew that although she was talented with the sword, Krysta was still physically weak.

~ ikemen = very handsome person

The gun was fired and the duel began. Both rushed at each other with full force as the sound of heavy clanging filled the arena. The spectators could barely follow the duel. Krysta has never defeated him in a duel but so far, Krysta was holding up just fine today. As they dueled, Lucien noticed that Krysta had become weak. This was his chance! He then tried to read her mind. As if planned, she let out a smirk and instantly put up a wide smirk, which broke his focus.

Suddenly a sandstorm was sent flying to his direction, like a smokescreen with Krysta out of sight. A cold mist filled the arena. Soon enough, Krysta was spotted on top of Lucien who was pinned to the high he ground, with a dagger pointed at his throat. She won! But her troubles were far from over. If she made a lithe mistake, Lucien would slice her leg with his blade so despite the commentator's declaration of victory, she remained on top of him. He then whispered, "Go, I won't bite", he smiled "I don't trust you". Her face turned red with irritation as she rushed up to her feet to leave in anger. Lucien laid on the ground smiling and staring at the sky, "I'm that weak against her".
