In the ward, everyone was staring at her in doubt and confusion.
Rick lay on the hospital bed, with his face pale and his breath weak. It looked like he could pass away at any moment. Cecilia clenched her fists, trying hard to stay calm.
"The surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday." Her voice wasn't loud, but it was audible enough for everyone inside the room.
The room went silent for a while, followed by some discussion.
"Cecilia, stop joking. The surgery isn't cheap, so how…" Mariah frowned, her tone clearly doubtful.
"Who is the doctor you got?" Frank questioned.
Cecilia casually replied, "Evan."
Obviously, people like Frank and Mariah didn't know who a bigshot like Evan was.
Mariah smirked mockingly. "Cecilia, even if you don't want to pay money for the treatment, it doesn't mean you should just get a random fraud."
Frank coldly snorted. "I think you just want your uncle to die faster."
Rick coughed, anxious to defend Cecilia. "Don't say that to Ceci..."
