Chapter 9

Harley POV

Sylas's fangs sprang out, and he pushed Kael to the ground. He closed the distance between them, quickly sinking his fangs into Kael's flesh and then spitting that part out.

"You fucker!" Kael cursed, taking a step backward as he held his neck.

"Get out of my way, mate," Sylas growled, his eyes turning red.

The men who were standing at the entrance slowly began moving closer. Vivian grabbed one of the men, pinning him against the wall, and then pulled his heart out.

The door swung open, and more vampires rushed in.

"Kill as many of these bastards!" Vivian growled at the men who had just rushed in. They attacked the others.

One of the vampire men attacked Kael, keeping him occupied. I slowly stood up from the bench, scanning the men.

If one of these men comes closer to me, I'll have to shift into my wolf and defend myself. At least it'll be fun killing these creatures that destroyed my pack.

Sylas's eyes met mine, and he growled, taking a step closer.

"It's turned into a party here," he said, running his tongue over his bloody fangs. "Just because we want you dead, and some of us don't agree."

"Don't come any closer, or I'll rip you apart," I said.

A smirk formed on his lips. But before he could take another step, a vampire attacked him from behind, throwing Sylas against the wall. The two of them began punching each other.

But Sylas gained the upper hand. He grabbed the vampire's neck, lifting him off the floor.

Something moved past the corner of my eyes, and I quickly turned around to see an older male vampire walking closer.

I growled at him, flashing my golden werewolf eyes.

"I'm not afraid of you, hound."

"I'm going to hurt you in every way you can imagine," I warned.

"Fair play. I want to hurt you too," he said, flashing me his fangs. His black eyes told me everything I needed to know. He was a turned vampire. Pure-blooded ones often have red eyes, but the turned ones have black eyes.

"Your kind killed my son," he said. "They took him away from me."

He charged forward with a piercing scream, catching me off guard. I reacted quickly, raising my hands, and they turned into claws. He pushed me to the ground, and I fell, hitting the back of my head.

As he moved closer, I kicked him with my feet, causing him to fall.

He sneered, showing his fangs. The anger and everything consumed me, and the next minute, I was on top of him, clawing out his heart.

Blood sprayed everywhere.

Next came another vampire, but this one was female. She peeled her lips back, snarling at me with her huge fangs.

She launched herself at me, and I quickly moved away from the man, swinging my claws at her.

My claw went through her shoulder, and she hit the wall. She immediately lurched toward me again. I spun in panic, arcing my claws into her flesh. It went deep inside her stomach, and blood rushed out.

But I didn't have time to collect myself because before I knew it, something struck my back, and I felt something wet trickle down.

I gasped in pain, almost falling to the floor when a hand caught me. The next thing I felt was sharp fangs piercing into my neck.

"Disgusting," I heard Sylas's voice whisper into my ear as he continued to drink from me.

I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to push the pain away, and it finally faded. But this time, I heard Sylas's voice, and when I turned around, I saw Vivian had dug her hand through his back.

He staggered, and before he fell, she pulled out his heart, taking a step away. She squeezed his heart hard before tossing it to the body.

I needed to focus on the others who were trying to kill me. Their black eyes pointed at me, but pain burned through my back.

I moaned, dropping to my knees before Vivian could catch me.

"Get up!" she yelled as she caught me.

I tried.

"Get up, Mutty," she said.

Mutty? Was that another nickname?

"You can't die now," she said.

Despite the chaotic scene, the sound of footsteps drew me out of my thoughts. The footsteps were heavy and carried a dark aura. I felt his presence even before I saw him.

I felt my heart pound heavily at the powerful man stalking closer. I brought my hand to my neck, where it was still bleeding.

My heart skipped a beat when our eyes met. Walking in his full glory, killing any vampires that stood in his way, was my captor.

But for some odd reason, my heart calmed. And when I closed my eyes, I heard his voice.

"Why didn't you give her your blood?" he asked.

"I didn't think of that. Save her, brother."

Within the next moment, I blacked out.
