"I think it's enough to last for a long time. But in the apocalypse, more is always better."
"The weapons you were asking for?" Lu Zhen asked. He had been wondering if she was in trouble to ask for so many lethal weapons, but now he understood.
"To protect ourselves. We will need them not only to kill zombies, but also to deal with other survivors. Like I said, once resources are scarce, someone would kill you for a simple moldy bun.
We have to be able to protect ourselves." Leng Pan explained her reasons.
"You should have told me this earlier. I would have believed you. But we still have two days, we can use that to get more supplies." Lu Zhen said.
"Depending on the supplies you got, what should we add?" He asked again.
"Do you have a way to get gasoline? I haven't gotten enough and during the extreme heat and cold we will need to run generators for air conditioning and heating when there is no sun for solar powered generators." Leng Pan was most worried about this.
"Don't worry about that, I will have a thousand gallons of gasoline by tomorrow evening. The Lu Group has a warehouse in the suburbs that hasn't been in use for a couple of years. It can be delivered there and we will go collect it in the evening." Suggested Lu Zhen after thinking about it.
" By the way, does that Bai Yinyin know that you have the space?" Lu Zhen asked.
"No, she thinks I am unaware of the secret of the bangle. I told her someone said it might be a real antique and I took it for appraisal so that I could sell it. She has been asking for it every day so tonight when she called, I told her I was out of town and had gone for something in City Y and will only be back the day after tomorrow.
That's the day the apocalypse starts. I could always tell her that I never got the bangle back after the apocalypse starts.
Unlike Bai Yinyin who still wore the bangle after opening up the space, I am in a different situation. The bangle has disappeared and only this small mole remains." Leng Pan said as she showed Lu Zhen the small mole that had appeared after the bangle recognized her.
" So, no one would associate me with a space." She added.
" That's good. You shouldn't let a third person know about this. Not even my family. It could put your life in danger because if what you said about the apocalypse is true, then having this space is as much of a sin as having a treasure."
Lu Zhen actually started worrying about someone finding out about the space. It was a good thing in an environment like the apocalypse, but it was also very dangerous.
"You shouldn't have told me about it." Even he didn't trust himself.
"If I can't even trust you, then I will have a hard time surviving in the apocalypse. I know I can't trust people so casually, but I know that if there is someone I can trust with my life, then it's you." Leng Pan said.
And it was true. She trusted Lu Zhen even more than she trusted herself.
"Okay, I won't let you down. It's late, go to bed. I'll go take a shower and join you. We can talk about other plans later." Lu Zhen said as he got up and headed to the bathroom.
Leng Pan felt her cheeks heating up when she heard her husband say that he would join her in bed. But she was happy and content that he had believed her, even with an absurd story of rebirth and apocalypse.
She got up and walked to the closet. She had just realized that she forgot to pack a nightgown, so she wanted to see if she could find something that fits her in Lu Zhen's closet.
Eventually, she picked one of his white shirts that stopped in the middle of her thighs and barely covered her.
After putting it on she ran to the bed and covered herself with a thin blanket.
The weather was slightly hot and quilts were not used. She tried to coax herself to sleep but found that she couldn't.
She even tried counting sheep, but after counting to three hundred and still didn't feel sleepy, she gave up.
At that moment, Lu Zhen walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. His defined abs were on display, which made Leng Pan swallow her saliva as soon as she saw him.
She was so enamoured that she couldn't look away.
"Like what you see?" Lu Zhen asked in a deep voice that was tinged with laughter.
He had never seen Leng Pan looking so hungry. He was happy because she was hungry for him.
At first he had planned to just hold her to sleep, but after what he had just heard and looking at that hungry look made him want to brand her as his. He wanted every part of her to truly belong to him. And the only way to do that was to make her his woman in every sense of the word.
He walked over to the bed, lifted the thin blanket and pulled the towel off his waist before slipping under the covers.
He stretched his arms and pulled his wife in, only to realize that she had his scent on her. She was wearing his shirt that after a small scuffle was almost up to her waist.
That only added fuel to the fire that had already been ignited.
Lu Zhen shifted and laid on top of Leng Pan. He looked right into her clear eyes and waited for her to push him away.
When she didn't push him, he got the answer he wanted and lowered his head to kiss her.
He moved his lips from her forehead, eyes, nose, lips, and finally started to go lower, kissing her collarbone while his hands were not idle, caressing her exposed thighs and the softness on her chest.
In less than ten minutes, Leng Pan could not even remember her own name or where she was. She was like a small boat in the middle of a storm in a vast ocean.
The storm rocked her whichever way it wanted and she could only follow.
The next morning, Leng Pan was woken up by hunger.
All of last night's activities had left her tired to the bone and so hungry she could eat a cow.
