Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Last Day

Chapter 25: The Last Day

A day's matches ended, and Arthur returned to the hotel room.

He happened to see Eleanor Vance in the room, working on data on her computer.

Arthur remembered that Eleanor Vance had said that morning that she wanted to see how his live stream was performing.

Although he hadn't paid much attention to live streaming most of the time outside, he still asked upon returning, "Eleanor, how did my live stream go today?"

Eleanor Vance turned her head, first deliberately putting on a serious face, and said sternly, "No explanation, no interaction, and you didn't even look at the camera once throughout the whole stream. Did you even remember the live streaming tips I taught you before?"

"Uh..." Arthur scratched his head awkwardly. "Sorry."

But the next moment, Eleanor Vance changed her tone and suddenly smiled.

"But the overall effect was quite good."

"Uh... um... Huh??"

Arthur first habitually agreed, but only halfway through did he realize something was wrong.

"Good effect?"

"Yes."

Eleanor Vance had a smile on her face, and she looked genuinely happy, which finally confirmed for Arthur that this didn't seem like a polite remark.

Then Eleanor Vance couldn't help but ask, "By the way, how do you know so much about Pokémon?"

While Arthur was racking his brains for an explanation, Eleanor Vance continued, "Did you command Pokémon battles in the mountains in the past?"

"Uh, I did."

Arthur's inner self shrugged: since you've already made up your own mind, I'll just go along with it.

"But there are no Poké Balls in the mountains, right? How did those Pokémon understand your commands?"

"A small number of Pokémon can understand human speech. They can help translate."

Pokémon and Pokémon's physical attributes cannot be generalized. Some Pokémon can indeed be intelligent enough to understand human language without relying on the psychic link of Poké Balls. Such Pokémon do exist.

Eleanor Vance couldn't find a reason to doubt for a while, so she could only sigh.

"I didn't expect the Pokémon in Moonwhisper Mountain to be so powerful."

Arthur guiltily shifted his gaze to other directions.

He decided not to respond to that for now.

...

In the following days, the preliminary selections continued as usual.

Arthur, under Eleanor Vance's guidance, finally began to slowly understand how to look at the camera and interact slightly during the live stream.

However, at this point, his live stream, after experiencing a surge in popularity for three consecutive days, also reached a plateau, and there wasn't such an exaggerated increase in followers anymore.

Eleanor Vance had already been mentally prepared for this. The popularity would probably peak around now before the main competition.

As for whether Arthur could enter the main competition?

To be honest, she still maintained a cautious and pessimistic attitude.

Although she had seen Arthur's amazing performances in front of the camera in the past few days, Arthur's preparation time was ultimately too short.

Who else would know this better than her? It had been less than a month from the time Froakie arrived in Arthur's hands, at most.

So in the last few days of the preliminary selection, Eleanor Vance directly warned Arthur not to do live streams when he went out, to avoid broadcasting any matches he might lose.

Arthur didn't care about this at all.

He treated live streaming as just a job and responsibility to be completed. Although he didn't think he would definitely lose, since his manager said not to stream, he didn't intend to defy her to prove anything.

This day was a weekend.

It was also the last day of the Golden Autumn Cup preliminary selections.

Eren, who had no classes on the weekend, and his group of classmates came to the competition venue again to watch the final day of the preliminary selections.

Because the final day of the preliminary selection would determine the thirty-two crucial main competition spots, the number of viewers who came to watch the matches that day was quite large, and the seating rate of the open-air stadium obviously surpassed the first few days.

As soon as they arrived at the venue, Eren couldn't wait to find Arthur, who had player number 28.

Ever since he was defeated last time, he had completely become Arthur's die-hard fan.

A girl next to him glanced at him.

"Still looking for that genius teenager you keep talking about every day?"

During the holiday, Eren had gone back to school and bragged to his classmates about Arthur's power, so much so that everyone's ears were almost calloused.

"Yeah." Eren said bluntly, "That boss is definitely still here. I believe he won't be eliminated."

The girl who asked the question at the beginning rolled her eyes in disdain.

"He just won one match against you, why are you so admiring? A guy so interested in a genius teenager for no reason, are you sure you're straight?"

Another girl with long braids and glasses suddenly had a sparkle in her eyes.

"You're not straight? Isn't that even better?"

"..."

Eren, in the midst of teasing, couldn't help but shiver, feeling a chill run down his spine.

"What are you talking about! I told you, that person is really powerful! It has nothing to do with being straight! He's about our age and already live streams, and his judgments about Pokémon are scarily accurate! He can see through all the moves a Pokémon has with one glance."

However, the girl still didn't believe him, "What's so great about live streaming? There's no barrier to entry for live streaming these days, anyone can stream anything, but it needs someone to watch it.

Besides, what's so great about seeing through skills with one glance? You're exaggerating too much."

Eren argued, "No way? Lana and the others were there that day, they all saw it. You'll find out when he goes on stage soon."

And soon, the organizer really called out player number 28.

Eren immediately got excited, "Here he comes! The boss is going on stage!"

The girl who often argued with him was about to say something, but when she saw Arthur come out, she suddenly fell silent.

I wanted to shout loud criticism, but unfortunately, that person seems a bit handsome...

At this time, the girl with long braids and glasses, who had been briefly excited about the "straightness" topic, suddenly said, "Huh, this little brother looks a bit familiar?"

"Can you not think every handsome little brother you see is familiar?"

"No, he really looks familiar!"

"...You're hopeless."

"Oh, I remember, he's that!! That 'Son of Suicune' who was popular online before!"

At this point, they finally connected Arthur's identity in the competition with his previous identity as an internet celebrity.

Many people immediately took out their phones.

The Son of Suicune had been a hot topic before, and the incident happened in this province, geographically close to them, and quite a few people in their high school were paying attention to it.

Upon investigation, some people immediately exclaimed, "Holy crap?! It seems to be true!"

At this time, the girl who was initially unhappy with Eren's blind adoration suddenly realized something.

"Wait, wasn't the Son of Suicune only exposed last month? That means he only got his ID last month, right? I didn't hear that he had any Pokémon at that time, so how long has he been training this Pokémon?"

Everyone was shocked by this reminder.

If this person is really that Son of Suicune—

Doesn't that mean he entered the final day of the preliminary selection in less than a month since he came down the mountain?

Holy crap?!!
