The next morning was tougher on me than last night. It felt as if my very bones were sore. I got up, it was really early but I couldn't fall back to sleep so I decided to take a shower. I grabbed my phone from the beside table where I had set it and walked into the bathroom. I set my phone down on the sinks edge and grabbed my brush. After my shower I got dressed and that's when I looked in the mirror....WHATS GOING ON!? IS THAT...BLACK!?

I grabbed my face, one of my eyes was completely black, even the white of my eye had turned black....Ive seen this black before but where? How did my own eye turn black!? I know my eyes aren't normal anyway but black!? Red was bad enough! My thoughts ran wild as my brain tried to think of reasons my eye had turned black. I recognized this black....where had I seen this eye before? I grabbed a eye patch and covered my left eye with it. Hoping people would just assume that I was injured when I went missing. i left the bathroom after I finished getting dressed for the day....the school uniform that I was wearing seemed tighter than last I wore it, like my body changed somehow. I didn't mind it and just planned on buying a bigger size later since I normally wore an oversized school uniform anyway. a knock at my front door startled me for a second. I grabbed my satchel and walked to the door, glancing at my phone as I opened the door. As usual, Tex and Yuri had come so we could walk to school together. I grabbed my house key and locked the door behind me as we all walked to the academy. As usual I wasn't paying attention to them until I hear the words "new kid" new kid? Wait what?
Kumiko: wait hold up what?
Tex: oh yeah, I forgot you didn't know
Kumiko: know what? What new kid?
Yuri: well he's a low level like us but he has....like....a feel to him...I can't explain it
Kumiko: what-
Tex: basically, he sticks to himself and even challenged zeno, he seems extremely powerful....like....he looked up it feels like he's hiding something important
Kumiko: really? I must've missed a lot dude
Tex: you really did
Yuri: oh oh, did you hear? Apparently the dude got kicked out of his last academy! He was apparently caught beating the crap out of the principal!!
Tex: no way!?
Yuri: yeah! Crazy right!
Kumiko: wow.....
Tex: we should probably stay away from him though. He....he seems like a bully,
Kumiko: what? What do you mean by that?
Tex: well I heard that he beat the crap out of a gang and then stole that necklace he always has on
Yuri: and I heard that he hides his creature because he might not even have one! But he is a level 3 so maybe he does
Tex: isn't he like....blind in one eye or something?

They continued on their rambling spree until we got to the academy. Once I stepped onto school grounds....something changed....like something was telling me something I couldn't hear clearly. The air had definitely changed but Yuri and tex didn't seem to feel what I was feeling so I just left it alone even though I didn't think that was a good idea. I split off with them since our first classes were different. As I walked the halls there was definitely a difference. I heard less vulgar words aimed at me and less looks...like I had just ghosted. I kept hearing the words "new guy" and that piqued my curiosity but something kept telling me to be cautious. Even zeno was occupied, leaving me alone as I passed him in the hall, not completely though as I heard them talking trash about me as I passed. When I entered the classroom I gained some sour looks but I just sat in my seat next to the window. I didn't know what kept telling me to be cautious.... something yelling at me in a language or tone I couldn't quite understand. That's when it happened. A guy I didn't recognize walked into the classroom. All heads immediately snapped in his direction, hushed whispers echoed around the room. I glanced at him and we locked eyes for a split second before I turned away. Why is he looking at me!? What did I do!? Bro look away???? Before I could look back up at the dude a hand grabbed my arm and basically yanked me out of my seat
Kumiko: h-hey!? What the hell are you doing!?

It was the same guy, he pulled me out of the classroom and into a back hallway before he tossed me off him. I stumbled before regaining my balance and glaring up at him. He had short black hair and was tall, about 6'2, he was well built and his eyes.....one completely white and the other a normal green

Kumiko: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR!? I DONT EVE-
??:what are you.
Kumiko: w-what?
??:don't play dumb. I keep getting caution alerts from my creature. What the hell are you.
Kumiko: first of all. You could have asked me calmly to come out here with you
??: no I couldn't have...your creature is telling you something too isn't it

??: stop lying. Are you the girl that everyone was talking about a couple days ago?
Kumiko: what?
??: you were missing right? The girl with no creature suddenly goes missing? I don't think so.
Kumiko: what are you talking about.....
??: I'll cut to the chase....did you fall into a dungeon recently?
Kumiko: how did you-
??: thought so. He sighed so you now have a creature.
Kumiko: who are you.
??: my names reano. Remove the eye patch
Kumiko: I don't have to listen to you?
Reano: look...if I'm right we should stick near each other
Kumiko: right about what....
Reano: did you happen to come across a creature that called itself "a ancient beast"?
Kumiko: a realization dawned on me....he.... You....?
Reano: yeah....the white eye of mine is their symbol
Kumiko: i hesitated before I grabbed at my eye patch, lifting it up just long enough for him to see the completely black eye under it
Reano: woah....that's insane....hey, what...what beast are you? I have a nine tails or you know it as a kitsune
Kumiko: a....a dragon
Reano: a dragon? That's it?
Kumiko: well....it seemed like this dragon was....more than a dragon
Reano: how?
Kumiko: he had two sets of horns and I think.....four wings?
Reano: thats....thats insane
Kumiko: yeah....
Reano: alright then....I guess we should stick near each other then.
Kumiko: i-it would be logical I guess
Reano: I know
We walked back into the class, people staring at us both now. I went back to my seat and reano took the chair next to me. We got weird looks and I new soon this news would spread across campus like wildfire. That day, I figured out we both had the exact same schedule. During lunch I invited him to sit with me Yuri and tex. When Yuri and tex saw him they were hesitant to let him sit with them but I assured them all the rumors were not true. That day it felt as if the thing inside me that was talking to me.....was communicating with others....finally making a connection like everyone else. It was so crazy...feeling mana coming from everyone and their spirits or creatures were visible to me now. Yuri and tex did ask about the eye patch but I played it off. I knew I wouldn't be able to hide this eye for long. That day, reano became apart of our group of misfits.
