The maids undressed me carefully and they me into the water.
I relaxed embracing the warmth of the sparkling water.
I closed my eyes gently and got carried away.
I struggled for breath, it was as if I was drowning. Not drowning in water but in memories. My childhood memories of Seraphina's collided.
I opened my eyes and stared at the three horrified children maids in front that looked shocked.
"Are you fine, my queen?" one of them asked curiously.
" I think so…
"I should get the Alpha…
"No, no!" I shouted at her and she stopped in her tracks.
"Don't disturb him, I'll be fine," I added, not sure if I'll be fine.
I wondered what they were about, I went back to the future and could hear Hannah's voice.
She sounded excited.
Hannah? Excited that I am alive?
Had she repented?
She was definitely beside me, and I remembered the strong smell of the hospital.
Well, at least I was alive in the future.
But why did my personality change?
Why did my soul go back to my real body?
Are there negative energies monitoring me? I looked around and wished I could find answers.
"My Queen, are you okay? You seemed lifeless for a while." The second maid said she looked horrified.
Lifeless?
Well, Seraphina was surely dead before I took control of her body.
"You can leave; I want to be alone," I stated, and they bowed their heads and left me alone in the water.
I heaved a sigh.
This was getting too much.
I needed a break. Probably a sleep.
I could ask for help from my healer but people's eyes would be on me.
I stood up from the water, naked. I strode into my room and put on a hefty robe, it was comfy and warm.
I then climbed my bed and laid myself down.
~~~~~~~~
The day passed, and I could not tell Lorien what happened because he was busy with the castle matters, and his brother was on his way to duskbane, so they were preparing for his arrival.
I had another trial waiting for me, and I headed to the ancient court; my maids followed me.
This is the first time I'll be in the middle of an ancient court. It was spacious and beautiful in a weird way. I could feel eyes glazing at me. I was enjoying the trials.
"My dear Seraphina went to the south mountain and brought back the 'Moonbloom' herb." Lorien declared loudly and heads turned to look at the fragile woman.
I could hear people asking each other how true that is.
"How is she back alive?" "I am sure the Alpha helped her!" "Is she a witch that won't die easily?"
"Silence!" Lorien commanded and they obeyed immediately.
"She has passed the first trial, the remaining two. Her second trial will be accomplished here. It's either you pass or fail,seraphina." Lorien added, staring at me.
I was not shaken, I was brought back to this period to rewrite history.
As my eyes locked with Lorien, I remembered the kiss we shared a few days ago… I was mesmerized. We just had the kiss and a guard came to inform him about something urgent cause he left immediately.
My body wanted more!
I wanted more!
But anyway, I will wait for the right time that the Alpha himself will submit himself to me.
"Seraphina, are you ready?" Lorien asked loudly.
I mustered up courage and replied, "Yes, I am ready."
"Good, bring him!" Lorien commanded and the guards brought out a very pale and weak man.
They dropped him on the floor as they covered their noses and walked back to their recent posts.
I looked at the man. He kept coughing and looked so sick and tired. He had a running nose and kept his face down.
"That man is sick, Seraphina. The illnesses seem dangerous and infectious. Three people had contracted it and it's getting worse. Is there anything you suggest we do or do you have any cure for this deadly virus?" Lorien explained.
I became agitated, what if the man had COVID-19? Is that how we will all die?
COVID was a big pandemic in the future where I came from, the government made us stay home for one year or two because of how deadly it was.
Did the Covid pandemic start in ancient times? But I never saw it in my history books.
"Are you scared that you can't cure it, Seraphina?" Lorien asked as he studied my facial expressions.
" No, no. I can!"
I summoned the courage and got on my knees in front of the man then bent my head to look at him.
"How are you feeling, Mr?"
The man looked up at her and sneezed softly; I shifted backward; I shouldn't have gone close to him.
"Don't get too close, Seraphina; you might get infected." The 'all-knowing' Alpha stated.
"You want to use me as a test subject to examine your mate!" The man snapped at Lorien.
"Take him away and behead him," Lorien commanded and the guards approached him.
"Please, Alpha. Forgive him, I'll check him and find the cure." I begged on my knees.
"No problem, Seraphina, you can go on," Lorien replied and sat down.
I turned back to the man and gave him a pleading look.
"Please, how do you feel?"
He hesitated for a while and eventually opened up. "I always have bad fevers and sore throats, and I do feel excruciating pains in my muscles. It's so painful, please help me." He pleaded softly.
"Do you bleed from any of your body parts?" I asked hoping it was not what I had in mind.
"No, just runny nose"
"I see, it could be Flu" I turned to Lorien. "It has a cure, and it's not dangerous if taken care of," I added gently.
"How'd you know?" A man clad in a regal robe replied.
"Well, I studied…
I can't tell anyone here that I'm Elaena from the future.
"I studied certain illnesses and their cure when I was little" I responded curtly.
"Show us the cure then," Lorien said, judging my every move with his eyes.
Some female maids brought many herbs in different baskets. I looked through every one of them, I went to a different foster home and I had so many experiences.
Finally, I found the one herb I needed and ground it in front of all of them, they watched as I sieved the liquid out and gave the man to drink.
I was eager to get the results, I wanted to pass to the trial and make my rewards known to the Alpha.
The man suddenly coughed out blood, everybody became suspicious and scared.
"She has killed him!"
"Witch!"
I became terrified; the herb was supposed to cure him, not do more harm. I would be beheaded if he'd died.
I knelt before him and looked at him in fear, " Are you okay? How're you feeling!"
I yelled at him, frustrated.
Immediately he hugged me. "I'm okay…I feel better!"
It seemed Lorien gave him a look to let go of his mate so he released me and bowed.
"She healed me, My king! I'm healed!"
My heart raced for joy. I smiled broadly, and everyone looked at me, amused.
Lorien gave me an encouraging nod.
I felt very proud of myself and dropped my head in my hands happily. My trials were going well and I wondered what reward I'd ask for. Lorien's perspective has changed towards me, but he didn't want to agree, and I did not care.
~~~~~
"Ahh…my king." The tall man announced as he walked towards us.
He was clad in royal attire and smelled so good. His dark hair was long and curly. His eyes were green and his hands were folded behind his back.
He smiled as he walked to us and bowed before Lorien then they hugged.
"Welcome back home," Lorien replied patting his back.
"Thank you, my king."
They let go of each other, and his gaze came down to me; I became shy and then beamed at him.
"You're welcome back to duskbane Prince Alistair."
"Well thank you, Seraphina." He replied as he took my hand in his then kissed it softly. He seemed sweet and friendly, unlike his brother.
"I must have missed so many events for you to stand beside the Alpha." He chuckled.
"Well not too many," I replied and eyed Lorien.
"We will talk about that later, I brought so many gifts for you and the king from my tour." He said as his maids came to our front, each carried a beautiful basket.
"Go and drop this in the Alpha's room." He commanded and they headed to Lorien's chamber.
"We need to talk, brother," Lorien stated, then looked at me.
"You should go and check out the gifts Alistair brought for you."
I bowed my head and left, wondering what they wanted to talk about.
I could ask my healer but people's eyes would be on me.
