It was a parting gift from the Sage of Slaughter to his 'disciple.' Without it, the storm of information was enough to run a Nascent Soul realm cultivator mad. Not to talk of a puny Foundation Establishment realm cultivator.
Even with that stream of energy, it was still dangerous. That was why most of the information was sealed in his sea of consciousness, waiting for him to access it when he was strong enough.
However, they weren't entirely useless for him currently. The strain they place on his sea of consciousness slowly tempers it, making it stronger over time.
His current spirit power could probably rival someone at the initial stage of the Golden Core formation realm. However, his method of alchemy consumed twice as much spirit energy as normal.
Even with all these advantages, he wasn't able to complete the pill refinement.
This should be enough to highlight the difficulty of the ancient alchemy method. Of course, this was also because he was a novice.
After resting for another three hours, he began another attempt. This time, he was able to reduce the amount of spirit energy he used in the refinement process.
After the medicinal essence of all the herbs had been extracted, the vortex started to congeal the extracted medicinal essence.
Adrian was excited and tried to fuse them together. This was the most important part of the pill refinement. He increased the output of his spirit energy and forced the pill creation.
However, due to his excitement, he used too much spirit energy, which made the pill too unstable. As he lifted the lid of the cauldron to see his 'pill', the unstable pill suddenly exploded in his face.
His face was covered in back smoke that caused him to fall back and start coughing loudly.
Olivia and Jayson, who were waiting for him at the doorway of his room, suddenly burst out in laughter while wiping tears away from their eyes.
Adrian was so focused on the pill refinement that he didn't notice the two kids who were waiting for him.
"Brother, what are you doing?" Olivia asked through tears.
Adrian took a piece of cloth from the corner of the room and replied while smiling at her.
"I'm refining pills," Adrian replied while wiping his face.
"Since when did you become an alchemist?" Jayson asked after calming down.
"Since today," Adrian replied calmly.
"Are you serious?" Jayson asked with a bit of incredulity. While he didn't know how difficult alchemy was, he knew it wasn't something that could be achieved in one day.
Adrian didn't reply this time as he took out another pill to replenish his spirit energy. He then sat down in front of the cauldron again.
This time, Jayson and Olivia had stopped laughing and sat down near the entrance of the room. They had noticed the seriousness on Adrian's face and didn't want to disturb him.
Adrian started the refinement process again. This time, he had some experience in it and was able to determine the correct amount of spirit energy to use for the fire and the vortex.
It took him about an hour to extract all the medicinal essence from the herbs before he finally started the pill formation. This time, however, he reined in his excitement so that he wouldn't make the same mistake.
His full concentration was on the cauldron as he increased the rotation speed of the vortex in order to fuse the medicinal essence together. He sat there for thirty minutes while his spirit energy was constantly being depleted.
To his delight, a medicinal fragrance slowly started permeating from the covered cauldron. Adrian hastily took off the cover, and the fragrance diffused throughout the room.
In the cauldron, there were two pills inside. Adrian took them out and started inspecting them. His forehead was filled with sweat, but he didn't care about that.
One of them was a high-grade Bronze rank healing pill that had a purity between 70 and 80%, and the other was a mid-grade Bronze rank healing pill that had a purity between 50 and 70%.
Adrian was a bit disappointed that none of them had pill veins. He complained in his heart about the difficulty of alchemy. If alchemists heard about his complaints, they would do everything in their power to fight him.
It was his first time practicing alchemy, yet it only took him a day to be able to concoct a pill. One of the pills he even concocted was a high-grade Bronze rank healing pill, yet he was still complaining.
A person who took three months to concoct their first pill would be considered a peerless genius in alchemy. An ordinary person would take at least half a year. This was also with the full support of a fairly powerful sect or family.
It wouldn't be surprising for it to take a year for a lone practitioner to be able to concoct their first pill. An alchemist's first pill would usually be a low-grade Bronze rank pill that had a purity of between 40-50%, while a genius would at most be able to concoct a mid-grade Bronze rank pill.
Now, this motherfucker only took a day to concoct a high-grade pill and he was still complaining. Of course, his success wasn't without reason.
In addition to refining a high grade pill, he was able to refine more than one pill. While refining multiple pills from a single batch of ingredients wasn't that uncommon, doing so on the first try definitely was.
An alchemist who was able to refine multiple pills from a single batch was considered a genius. Not only would they be able to save ingredients, but they would also be able to make more money.
The thousands of years of knowledge and experience that had been crammed into his head from the inheritance were a huge help. In addition to his own innately monstrous talent, there was no way he would fail.
He kept the pills in a bottle while smiling to himself. He was finally on the right path.
