Chapter 88 - Queen's Dream × Black Card Verdict × Redefining Power

Queen's Dream × Black Card Judgment × Redefining PowerNightmare Trial of the Queen Card Yorumi Sō falls into unconsciousness once again - his soul drawn into the dream trial of the Queen of Cards.

The dream world is a broken chessboard floating in an unreal void. Four giant playing cards glow with ethereal light, their symbols and texts twisting in an indescribable space.

In the center stands the Queen, holding a face-down card in her hand, her gaze cold as ice.

"You are still lost. What you truly cannot escape... is yourself."

Suddenly, the Jokers begin to appear in alternating sequence.

The Sun Joker smiles like radiant daylight and reaches out to Yorumi with a warm, encouraging tone:

"Each challenge is a new beginning. Embrace it and you will grow stronger.

But then comes the Moon Joker, with cold eyes and a voice like frost:

"You have no right to run. Darkness is your final destination.

Yorumi feels the weight of invisible chains binding his soul, his body heavy and powerless. But as the Sun Joker leads him toward a distant light, a single voice resonates clearly:

"Only you can choose your path."

Closing his eyes, Yorumi summons the strength to break free. A surge of power awakens deep within him. He shatters the boundaries of the dream - yet confusion remains. The whispers of the cards still ring in his ears.

The emotional turmoil of Sayo Kōdō Sayo Kōdō has remained at Yorumi's bedside since he fell unconscious. Her heart is in turmoil.

Ever since his map-based power awakened, she has felt him slipping deeper into his illusions - as if his connection to reality is fading.

"Yorumi..." she whispers.

She touches his hand gently - and immediately feels an abnormal pulse of energy. A wave of unease rises in her.

Sayo makes a decision and channels her magical power to dive into Yorumi's spirit world - determined to reach him.

In his dream, she finds him wandering on the edge of darkness. The whispers of the cards trail behind him, foretelling an uncertain future.

"You are not alone, Yorumi," she calls softly. "I will stay by your side. Always."

Her voice pierces the fog of his nightmare. The shadows of the Jokers fade while Sayo's image becomes vivid and clear.

Warmth fills Yorumi's heart. Slowly, he begins to climb out of the abyss.

The true identity of the wandering stranger While Yorumi remains unconscious, a mysterious figure begins to appear around the academy. The students whisper and call him the "Wandering Stranger".

Everyone assumes he's just a staff member. But every move he makes seems to have a hidden purpose.

One night, Yorumi catches a glimpse of something strange - the man is always holding a Rubik's cube that glows briefly when their hands touch.

Days later, the truth is revealed: the stranger is none other than Fonk, the Academy's disciplinary officer - and a former member of the Magic Club.

He once fought alongside Kendō Kyōichi and left the club years ago to investigate the secrets of the school itself.

The cube he carries is a relic of a long-lost experiment - containing forbidden knowledge related to the card system.

Fonk shares his findings with Yorumi, helping him to understand and control his powers.

"You have awakened, but incompletely," Fonk says in a low voice. "The power of the cards is far beyond what you can imagine. Learn to master it - or you will be consumed."

He hands Yorumi the cube.

"This will be your link to the card system. Remember, the choice is yours - and so are the consequences."

Looking out the window, Fonk mutters:

"The secrets of the school... the true origin of the card system... it all begins now."

After Fonk leaves, Yorumi's dreams are disturbed again.

This time, a vague image of the King emerges from the darkness of the map realm.

"You will either become me... or be consumed by me," the king whispers.

"You will stand atop this world - or become the avatar of its darkest hour."

Yorumi senses a chilling presence watching from the shadows - waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Back at the Academy, Fonk does not leave immediately. Standing by the window, his eyes distant and serious, he turns to Yorumi once more.

"Yorumi... your growth is not just to face supernatural forces," Fonk begins, his voice firm yet ominous.

"You are involved in a conspiracy much deeper than you realize."

Yorumi frowns, confused.

"A conspiracy?"

Fonk picks up the cube and turns it slowly in his hand. The air is heavy with tension.

"The Magic Club was once the symbol of the power of this academy. But behind it lies a hidden force - one that has always influenced our resources, our research, and our fate."

"That force," he says, meeting Yorumi's eyes, "has manipulated everything from the shadows. The enemies you see may only be puppets. The real threat... lies deeper."

Yorumi clutches his Queen card. Her whispers echo in his ear again - low, unintelligible, but undeniably real.

"Do you hear it?" Fonk asks with sharp eyes. "That voice has tried to control any mage it deems a threat. Everything you're experiencing... is just the beginning of its plan."

A shudder of realization runs through Yorumi. For the first time, he sees the Academy as more than a school - he senses a vast, unseen war being waged beneath its surface.

Fonk steps forward.

"You are trying to understand the cards, their meanings. But understand this: you're not just fighting skills. You're fighting a system that wants to swallow you whole."

Yorumi catches his breath. He realizes that this isn't just about power - this is about survival. The Queen's whispers are no accident. They are part of something ancient. Something inevitable.

Fonk gives a weak smile.

"But don't worry. You're not alone. I'll help you gain control. But most importantly, learn to see the real enemy. Whether it's the whispers of the cards... or the temptations outside - your choices determine everything."

Yorumi takes a deep breath, the weight of truth settling on him. He sees now - he has only glimpsed the edge of the battlefield.

As Fonk turns to leave, he pauses at the door.

"One more thing, Yorumi. In this war, what you see may not be the truth."

The door closes softly.

Yorumi stands in silence, a cascade of questions echoing in his mind.

What secrets are hidden within the Academy? What is the true meaning of the Queen's card?

Once again, he looks at the Queen in his hand. Her whispers return, faint but present.

Even with some of his powers awakened, he knows this is only the beginning.

And the queen's whisper now carries a new weight: "You must choose.

Yorumi clutches the map tighter. The fog in his heart has not yet cleared.

"How... do I choose?"
