Chapter 24 - Locked Door

Yejun looked at Doyun… yeah, this was definitely not gonna end well.

"I mean, sure, but-"

"Great, then let's go!"

Seriously? Why does he keep following him around? They're not even friends. Whatever. Yejun started walking up the stairs. Since they were already on the fourth floor, it was just one more level. Still, he suddenly remembered something, wait. The room. It was on the fifth floor. He'd seen it in that weird dream too, but he'd totally forgotten what he promised Nari...

Oh no.

Meh. Probably not a big deal, right? The two of them climbed in silence. It seemed like a short distance, but this school was massive, so each floor stretched out way longer than normal. Tall ceilings, endless steps. Classic. Finally, they reached the fifth floor. Yejun paused, taking a deep breath, eyes shut as he tried to remember the room's exact location.

In the corner… wasn't it?

Just as the memory started piecing together, Doyun shoved his shoulder.

"Hurry up."

Yejun ignored him. No time for that bullshit. He focused, yeah.. down that hallway and to the left... corner room. That was it.

As they walked closer, Yejun felt his stomach twist. That door, wasn't that the same one Nari walked into earlier? When he was heading to the bathroom? What even was that room? Now standing in front of it, Yejun noticed something weird. Unlike his dream, there were no broken glass pieces, no blood trails. Just the door. Plain. Still.

Has this door always been here?

It felt like it only showed up sometimes.

Doyun was scanning it, head tilting like he was searching for something. Then, without a word, he stepped up to the door. Yejun got that eerie feeling like someone was about to pop out from the shadows. But no one did.Doyun reached for the knob, hesitated, pulled back, then finally gripped it and yanked.

Click.

Locked.

"You're kidding. It's locked?!" Doyun snapped, slamming his foot into it with full force.

"Calm the fuck down. It's not that deep." Yejun rolled his eyes, stepping up and trying it himself. Nothing. Still locked.

Honestly? Lowkey a relief.

They stood there for a super awkward two minutes before Yejun finally broke the silence.

"Well… I guess that didn't work. Anyway, it's past curfew. We should go."Doyun muttered, "Yeah yeah, whatever," and they started the long walk back down to the dungeon dorms. When they reached their separate rooms, Yejun found something. Another note. But this time—it wasn't from Doyun. The handwriting was totally different.

The note read:

"You shouldn't have gone there."

What?

Nope. Noooope. Was this a prank? Hah… yeah… no. Not funny.Totally freaked out, Yejun burnt the paper with his half useless magic. Yeah, okay, maybe some of his homework caught fire too, but it got the job done.

He followed his usual night routine, then crashed into bed.

That night's dream?

So much worse.

This time, it wasn't from his perspective it was from someone else's. Someone behind the door, peeking through the crack, watching them. But they weren't normal. They were smiling. A huge, unsettling grin. That same smile Nari had when she said someone was watching her.

But this person? Definitely not Nari.Everything else in the dream was the same the same hallway, the same conversation but through their eyes.

And then… Yejun saw them. They looked… familiar. But not in a comforting way. Blood was smeared across their face, dripping from their mouth. The vibe was wrong.

Then they whispered something.Yejun couldn't catch it fully but the voice? It was unmistakable.

Mr. Rinh.

The same voice he and Doyun heard in the hallway before. Was this connected? Were these people tied together somehow?Yejun shot up, gasping. Heart racing. That dream felt too real. But it wasn't. Right? There's no way someone was behind that door…

Right?

Whatever.

Yejun got dressed and headed out for breakfast. It was the weekend, and he was not in the mood to do anything productive. He scarfed some food, chatted a bit with Hana, then went straight back to his room. Not wanting to commit to anything intense, he pulled out his sketchbook. His hand moved almost on autopilot as he began to draw.

The door.

Tall. Dark. Ominous.

Time passed in a blur. When he looked up again—it was already 6PM?!

Dinner time. Meh. He wasn't hungry.

Instead, Yejun grabbed his wand, brushing his fingers along its smooth surface. Nice texture, at least. He flipped through his spellbook, searching for something interesting to try.A few spells caught his attention. He tried them out. Most failed, thankfully not causing much damage. They were mostly beginner level, nothing serious. It wasn't until a failed spell knocked over his clock that he realized the time again.

9PM?

Damn. That was fast.

Whatever. It was Sunday night. He had school tomorrow. Probably should sleep.

And with that, Yejun headed to bed again—completely unaware that things were only gonna get weirder from here.
