Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 – Bleeding Fatty

Wow, did the system want to make me as low as those molesters? Even if option three gave a lot of points and increased my ability, the result was horrible!

There was no way I would rape Asami in front of Saeko! My head would probably roll to the ground the moment I tried to fuck her, followed by Saeko's own head.

Right, my sister was that crazy.

Only two choices were available for me, either I let her back to the mall or took her back to Takagi Estate. With the current situation in mind, letting her return to the mall seemed risky.

Maybe if she had more bullets to spare, things wouldn't turn out too bad. Sadly, her pistol was empty right now and there was a chance she wouldn't meet up with paranoid survivors.

Besides, if she returned alone after leaving with three people... The result would be predictable. I could imagine her being blamed or even worse, being kicked out to fend for herself outside. Something that idiotic would happen in typical zombie movies.

Furthermore, judging by her explanation, she was kind hearted enough to sacrifice her own safety just to escort people.

Like the kind old lady, I believed she deserved to live. It wasn't fair if she had to die due to something she couldn't control.

I exchanged glances with Saeko, and she smiled at me as if she knew what I thought. Yeah, she seemed to agree with my decision.

"How about coming with us?" I said, turning my gaze towards Asami. "There are survivors that have created a safe shelter in Takagi Estate."

Upon hearing my words, her eyes widened. "Huh?" was all she managed to reply for several seconds. "Is that true?"

"Of course."

That's where we came from after all.

"We planned to return after taking some items with us. If you can help us gather them, we would greatly appreciate it." Saeko added kindly.

Though Saeko's smile could be viewed as beautiful, the truth was darker; my beloved sister probably intended to recruit another loyal guard dog for the future. In case something went awry, we could use their help to support us.

That was how Shido in the original was able to get away with most of his atrocities despite being a scumbag.

After thinking for a moment, Asami accepted our proposal. While she seemed hesitant, her resolve quickly hardened once she realized what awaited her should she refuse.

[Ding! You have received 100 Shop Points.]

With this, I had more than 1,000 Shop Points. I wanted to get that zombie serum, so I only needed 4,000 more.

'It sounds like a long way before I can buy it.' I laughed wryly.

Asami then offered to join us in searching for supplies and items needed. She said it was the least she could do considering the circumstances.

In the end, we managed to gather some speakers and wires to use them. I also collected some fireworks and matches to use later, together with other necessities from the convenience store.

Luckily there weren't many zombies here since most of them went to the mall where there were crowds. We only encountered a couple during our search and dealt with them easily.

With hands full of items, we returned to Takagi estate before evening arrived.

"She is Nakaoka Asami. I saved her when she was attacked by... three heartless men," I said, purposely avoiding certain parts of the story.

Because the guard already knew me and was indebted when I saved him from the factory, he believed in my story. He welcomed her in without asking questions or showing suspicion.

"As expected from Busujima. To think you would save and bring back a survivor after an outing." The guard commented upon learning about it, "There is an empty tent left by someone else. You can use it."

"Thank you."

Entering the estate, we didn't immediately go to the empty tent but to the infirmary tent first. Asami had injuries and she needed treatment immediately.

Surprisingly, the infirmary tent was full of people.

It was very packed with people being treated by doctors and nurses. Some moaned in pain while others sobbed quietly.

"It will be okay. Take a deep breath."

Among them, Miss Shizuka tended to a child tenderly. She gave a cup of water mixed with painkillers to a crying boy whose arm had been injured and wrapped tightly by bandage.

"I-I am scared."

The boy clung to the warm smile shown by the kind teacher and refused to release his grip from her lab coat. His teary eyes filled with fear and sorrow as he continued crying nonstop until he fell asleep due to exhaustion.

Watching that scene, I couldn't help but smile. Many patients seemed to be grateful to Miss Shizuka. Not just for healing their wounds or illnesses, but also comforting them in times of distress.

Some women cried and embraced the angel of mercy.

When she walked around to check every patient's condition, people greeted and thanked her for her kindness. Such simple actions brought happiness to everyone involved.

'Yeah, she is amazing.'

Unconsciously, I clenched my fists and resolved to protect this gentle woman from harm.

"Miss Shizuka." I called out to her. "May we ask you to treat our friend? She is wounded quite heavily."

She gasped in surprise upon hearing my request but recovered quickly.

"Ah! Sure! Please show her to me," she said, smiling brightly and beckoning us over.

I signaled Asami to follow the nurse. Saeko and I remained standing near the entrance since we didn't want to disturb her work.

Somehow my sister looked restless. Her gaze lingered in the sky and her feet tapped anxiously. Noticing her strange behavior, I nudged her with my elbow gently.

"What is it? Are you not feeling well?" I asked worriedly, placing a hand on top of hers.

"N-nothing! Don't worry, brother! I am fine. Perfectly fine."

She laughed nervously before averting her eyes away from mine.

Strange, was this truly Saeko? She acted differently compared to usual. Well, whatever bothered her, hopefully it wasn't anything too serious. Otherwise, I would personally see to it that whoever responsible paid dearly for upsetting my sister.

I decided to help stand guard while waiting for Asami's treatment to end. The guard around the gate looked lonely anyway, so it was good to help.

Before long, we became pretty friendly. He introduced himself as Nakamura Yoshito, the owner of a butcher shop nearby.

"Well, actually it was my father's. I only inherited it." He revealed. "So I really know nothing about managing a company."

He mentioned that he hated his job and preferred doing outdoor activities like hiking, camping, etc., instead of staying cooped inside the building all day.

It made sense why he felt better as a guard. His physical build and demeanor were fit for frontline jobs, not as a businessman. His muscles ripped through his clothes.

After chatting for a while, the sun slowly began to set. It was then I suddenly had a bad feeling.

'Takashi and his group haven't returned yet.'

I kept silent and observed patiently for a few minutes, hoping desperately that my assumption would prove false. However, none appeared after the sky darkened completely.

'Did they encounter something? Or perhaps...'

Just as I thought of the worst-case scenario, I saw a familiar silhouette approaching us slowly. The fatigue must've drained all energy from him, but he kept walking toward our direction.

"That's..."

With my current status, I was able to see his figure clearly despite the darkness enveloping the surrounding area. And I recognized those clothes and vest everywhere.

"Nakamura, I will go and check. Please guard here alone."

"Hey, wait-"

I jumped down the wall, ignoring the call, and headed toward the lone figure. From afar, I already identified him. He was Kohta.

His body was riddled with wounds, but none of them looked like bite or scratch marks from zombies.

Instead, his shirt was stained by blood coming from a slash or bruise.

I hurried my steps and stopped in front of him.

"Hey, what happened?" I asked.

"S-Senior Daiki..." He stuttered between his teeth.

Even though he seemed to struggle immensely speaking, I caught every word that escaped his mouth.

"W-W-We... We got ambushed... T-Those fucking b-bastards..."

And then he passed out in my embrace.

[Make your choice!]

I had no time to even think about it and took the fatty back to the base.
