Chapter 30 - Elliot Clark vs John Clark (1)

Elliot stared at John, who began to laugh even more horribly.

'Whatever happens, he's still someone who awakened four years ago. Maybe his strength isn't much, but he must have learned martial arts or swordplay that can be used using his ability, that will give him a big advantage over me, as I've only had a week since I awaken. But I will avoid, as much as possible, using my class. I must try to beat him with my current strength.'

John's ability is one of the most coveted by the masses because it gives him a clear advantage when fighting and can be used without too many complications. It would be enough to wish for it, and it would activate without further ado.

In that, he had the advantage.

But Elliot's class, that invocation, is much more coveted than any other ability, with a few exceptions. This is because a 1 vs 1 situation is completely reversed, making winning easier. Now, summoners must be careful.

Because as coveted as they are, they are also feared. There are not many Awakened who are summoners, and this is not only because they do not awaken many but also because those who do end up dead very quickly.

That is why showing his summoning in a place with so many people was not the right way to fight this duel.

He needed to win with his own strength and cunning if he could.

That's why he didn't take out his knife to fight. He didn't know how to fight with it and only used it to kill because it was relatively easier than using his fists, but if he wanted to use all his current strength, he needed to do it using the martial art he trained in.

His stance had improved in the last few days, as he occasionally spent some time a day trying to perfect the movements he had memorized, especially since he couldn't attend the martial arts center.

Seeing that stance made John smile even more.

'A monk-type fighter against a swordsman... Hehe, it's not like you stand a chance, Elliot, but right now, you're doomed.'

John drew his sword, which was surrounded by a slightly violet and shaky energy.

"I don't need to prepare to deal with you, I hope you're ready to feel crippled again, Elliot Clark."

With a leap, John began his frontal attack. The sword, surrounded by that violent energy, quickly headed towards one of his vital points while charged with great attacking power; he wanted to end the fight in one blow, even if, after that, he would mutilate him without killing him.

Elliot stood tall in the face of this movement, staring fixedly at the attack approaching him. He had no combat experience, but he had often seen John fight. He had studied him carefully to take revenge one day, so he understood what he would do.

He also was tempted to take out the mirror he had recently obtained, but there was a problem. When he checked it later, he realized that he could only use that power seven more times before the mirror stopped working.

It makes sense; a power as incredible as that shouldn't be able to be used freely as if it were infinite. That's why he didn't want to take it out; saving it for indispensable occasions was better.

As he didn't have much of an advantage, he had to use all his skill and cunning to win. Luckily, his combat power was superior to John's, as he could use all four stats without any problem.

While weighing up the advantages, Elliot carefully observed John's movements. John approached him very quickly, but using a basic attack.

'This is my chance.'

Elliot waited until the last moment to defend himself. When John was already smiling at his great victory, Elliot raised one of his arms as if to use it as a shield.

"You idiot!" John couldn't help but laugh out loud in his head, but suddenly he saw that the raised arm was bending slightly like a bow just as the attack was about to land on it.

That smooth but firm movement caused the sword to slide over something strange on the arm and pass by, leaving John shocked and at a complete disadvantage.

Elliot immediately moved his right arm forward and covered his nose with a powerful blow, sending him rolling across the floor several meters backward.

Blood spurted from his nose on impact, momentarily stunning him.

'I can do it!' Elliot leapt quickly out of John's blind spot, landing right next to him. He then delivered a hard blow to his right cheek and slammed him fiercely to the ground.

Although John was dazed, he managed to regain consciousness to realize that his head hurt and he was looking at the ground.

'How the hell is he so fast? Did he awaken like a killer? Impossible, he's too powerful! And what the hell is on his arm?! Some kind of heavy-duty armor?!'

He tried to recover quickly, activating his ability and launching a powerful attack towards his back, where Elliot should be. However, his sword only cut through the air and sent powerful wind attacks in all directions, except towards Elliot, as he was already on the other side of the attack.

His body moved like a shadow to John, but Alexander was seeing something amazing from the outside.

'Shit... This guy can use agility at John's level, even his strength. Although he doesn't seem to be at the same level, the way he uses it shows that he has a lot of experience. Besides, the attack on the arm didn't even move his arm. How high is his resistance? Maybe over 30...' Alexander was in shock, clenching his fists.

If he had a resistance over 30 and was focused on agility and strength, as was already evident, he could still use 50% of his resistance in a fight. That's still a considerable amount, considering he's a powerful attacker.

The way this guy fought reminded him of gray days… Also, his talent...

'That damn bastard... He must die.' His mind had made up its mind, and his body wanted to act, but he had to be patient.

While he was deep in thought, the fight had unfolded.
