Realizing something, Sabo finally asked the question:
— What's your name, anyway?
I felt embarrassed, realizing I hadn't introduced myself.
— Bellamy, — I said, scratching my head. — Now we can make it official.
I extended my hand to him, trying to make the moment a bit less awkward.
— We're on the nearest island to the Goa Kingdom, but not for long. We'll be leaving soon.
— Where are we going, exactly? — Sabo asked, clearly confused about what was happening.— We're heading to Graveharbor Island, — I replied, trying to sound as confident as possible.
— Graveharbor Island... That's a pirate island, right?
I noticed a faint spark in his eyes, like something had begun to resurface in his memory.
— Yeah, seems like you're starting to remember something, — I said in surprise. I didn't expect his memory to come back this quickly.
— And what were you doing here? — Sabo continued his questioning.
I sighed, not hiding my exhaustion.
— Had to pick something up. Old cargo, debts from the past — nothing interesting, — I shrugged. — But if not for this trip, I wouldn't have found you.
Sabo nodded, taking it all in. He still looked lost, like every new word, every fact about the world around him gave him another fragile foothold — just enough to start piecing his past back together.
— So, we're on the nearest island to Goa… — he muttered, more to himself.
— Why don't I want to go back there?
I saw his eyes cloud over, and he turned his head to the side, as if trying to understand what was happening to him.
— The body forgets, but the heart remembers, — I said quietly, not knowing what else to say. That was all I could offer in that moment. Fewer words, more feeling.
Sabo stayed silent. His hands rested on his knees, weakly clenching into fists. I could see him sinking into thought, trying to figure out what was happening in his soul and how to live with this new state of being.
— Thank you for pulling me out… Bellamy, — he finally said, his voice soft, but with a note of gratitude.
I smiled at his words.
— Life's a boomerang, — I chuckled. Let's just say this is your new life now. Until your memory comes back — we build from scratch.
— Then... tell me more about the world. About the seas. About what I should know, — he asked, his voice filled with genuine curiosity.
I sat down next to him, leaning my back against the side of the submarine.
— Alright. Listen closely… There are four great seas: East Blue, West Blue, South Blue, and North Blue. We're in East Blue. These seas are pretty calm, and most people live and act here.
But between the seas lies the Calm Belt — a very dangerous zone with no currents and home to Sea Kings. It's nearly impassable for most ships. But if you make it through, you reach the Grand Line.
I paused for a moment, letting him absorb the information.
— The Grand Line is the most dangerous place, where dreams come true — or turn to dust, — I said, watching his reaction carefully. — The strongest pirates fight there, and those who can't handle it vanish.
But the Grand Line isn't the only thing worth knowing. There's also the Red Line — a giant chain of mountains that divides the world.
Sabo listened intently, as if every word I spoke was a key to unlocking his past. I saw how his gaze shifted — he was diving deeper into this new knowledge, trying to find his place in this vast world.
Let's go back a little…
After I rescued Sabo, I sat and thought for a long time. The question wouldn't leave me: is there any point in going back to the city of Notice?
I had everything there — a place to live, food, money. It was a safe and peaceful city. There was nothing there that could push me to act. Everything was calm and measured. At first, it seemed like the perfect choice. I could've stayed, lived quietly, not worried about being hunted, not looking for new threats.
But with each day, I realized more and more that this peace was a trap. A place where I'd get too comfortable. Where there'd be no challenges, no tension, no danger. And that would lead to my downfall.
So, in the end, I made a decision. I chose the pirate city. A place that gathers all that's dark and dangerous. East Blue — an island that became home to all the scum of East Blue, those who ran from the law or were forgotten by society.
A place full of thieves, bandits, and where you can find everything — from stolen goods to things you can't buy anywhere else. If you need to fix or buy a ship — that's the place. If you're building a crew — go there.
It's a place where you can get anything you need for survival, for any venture. Even if you have nothing, you can always find opportunities.
The journey through the underwater world in a submarine can take weeks, maybe longer. But that's okay. We've got time. We just needed to find a decent sub heading to that city. Sounds simple, but it's not.
Yes, the island is a pirate haven, but not all pirates are willing to risk going there. Even though it's considered a hub for criminal trade, it's not exactly safe — not even for them.
A pirate city isn't just a place to earn or hide. It's a place with its own brutal rules, where there are no guarantees you'll live if you step on the wrong person's toes. A place ruled by survival laws.
