DOMINIC
I had tried to calm myself before she came back. I didn't want her to see me so unravelled, half crazed, and destructive. But I couldn't stop the wolf from raging as much as I could control myself.
"Where the hell have you been?" I demanded, my voice low, dangerous.
She hesitated, shutting the door behind her too carefully, like she already knew she needed to tread lightly. "I needed air," she said.
"With Evan?" I spat his name like it tasted wrong in my mouth. I prowled toward her, my body thrumming with restrained violence. "You left the pack. You left me."
Lena lifted her chin, that stubborn pride flashing across her face. "I didn't leave you. I needed to clear my head, Dominic."
"And Evan was the first person you ran to," I said, my voice breaking apart under the weight of it.
She flinched but stood her ground. "No, you assigned him to dog my every step. There's no reason to be jealous."
