Chapter 6 - The Alien

Aurora had still not gotten over the strange occurrence that had happened two weeks ago as she still searched for answers. Every other person on the ship seem to have forgotten about it and moved on with their lives, but not her. She searched their radar day after day for any sign of the ship the radar had picked up weeks ago not far from them, but still no sign of it whatsoever.

"Hey prissy pants, why the eye bags?" Bradley asked insensitively as he walked up to the water dispenser she stood by.

"Hey Bradley, why the … well, why the everything?" Aurora tried her best to shoot back at him as she usually does, but today she was lacking in spirit. Her mind was still fixed on the ship that disappeared from their radar.

"Hmm," Bradley said as he dropped the now half full cup of water he had been drinking from, "that's different, I expected to get better, you usually give as good as you get"

Aurora shrugged at that, she thought she gave better, but whatever.

"You know what, now that I do point that out, there is something off, you have been somewhat different, detached maybe, for about the last couple weeks" Bradley noted

Truly, she has, but it was rather surprising that it is Bradley that is the one to note that.

"It's nothing, I am fine" she shrugged off his concern, not particularly interested in divulging what troubled her to Bradley, it didn't make sense to her so what was the possibility that it would make sense to Bradley.

"Well, whatever your issue is, Jeremy is looking for you, he is in the control room" Bradley told her

"Did he tell you for what reason?" Aurora asked, wondering why Jeremy would be looking for her, perhaps it has something to do with the weird thing that happened two weeks ago, perhaps he has also realized that it wasn't by the power that further crisis was averted last time.

"Nah, you can go ask him yourself, prissy" Bradley replied walking away, "I got other things to do"

Aurora sighed, dropping the cup she had forgotten was in her hand still, as she went to go answer the ship's captain, Jeremy in the control room.

~.~

"Hey, Capt.… whoa! What's going on? What the heck is that thing?" Aurora asked as she entered the huge engine controls segment of the ship and saw about four of the male members of the ship's crew lifting what could only be defined as an alien tentacle.

Jeremy who was coming up from behind the men saw her, and was momentarily struck by how beautiful she was. Their starship is a big one, big enough that he could go days without bumping into Aurora or seeing her, except he specifically calls for her. The weird occurrence that happened days ago was the last time he had seen her.

Even now, he didn't really have a reason for why he called her, he had just told Bradley that he was looking for her as he was going up to the ship's second level where she usually is. He kind of just wanted to see, and truth be told wasn't really expecting Bradley to go fetch her.

"What is that thing?" Aurora asked once again, referring to the extraterrestrial creature they had found stranded in space in a single carrier space pod that was depleted in its energy. The creature that is yet to be identified was dying and after being proved to be harmless to them by Sunny after he had run a thorough check on it, they decided to send an astronaut out to help bring it in so they can treat the creature back to earth and maybe get some information from it once it is back to consciousness.

"It is an alien" Jeremy answered her, "We are yet to determine exactly which planet it is from, however, Sunny has run a thorough check on it and found it to be of no harm to us. But it is unconscious and without quick medical attention it may die. Our medics are trying to see what we can do for it"

"Oh okay" Aurora nodded, "That was nice and considerate of you guys, I suppose, however, we don't really know what kind of creature it is. I really hope it would be of no harm to us and our ship. I believe we still have to keep it under watch and in quarantined quarters, just in case."

"Makes sense, I will see to that" Jeremy replied, considering her suggestions.

"And we have to make further research to determine its planet of origin. If it was found around our ship with no other ship members then it couldn't have come from so far." Deciding it was better not to assume, she asked Jeremy, "It was found alone right?"

"Yeah, in a single carrier pod, low on energy, just floating in space not far from our ship" Jeremy informed her.

"Hmm" Aurora said in thought, "And why was it alone so far out in space? There are so many questions to be answered. But for now, we can start by finding out its planet, I will conduct a search checking its physical and biological makeup with those of inhabitants of the planets around our immediate location. I will get on the search right away, Captain" she then turned to look at Jeremy, "That is why you called me right, Captain?"

Jeremy was lost for a moment before he recalled he had called for her for no reason in particular, but instead of saying that, he said, "Yes, that is totally why I was looking for you, Aurora"

"Let me get to it then, Captain" Aurora said as she faced Jeremy who nodded dismissing her, a bit reluctant for her to leave his presence just yet but she didn't notice this as her mind was only focused on the new task she has been presented that would get her mind off the strange occurrence of two weeks ago. She was so looking forward to knowing more about this alien.
