Chapter 20 - I'll let you know if I find anything

I talked to Doctor Cha Hyun-woo about my inability to control my Pheromones and how I didn't even know if I was emitting Pheromones at that moment. I couldn't feel my Pheromones.

But before he could say his side and ask questions, Min-Cheol's phone rang.

He looked at it and then his eyes went cold and flat with dissatisfaction. What in the world would make him stare at his phone as if he were about to commit murder?

He turned his gaze away from the phone, switching his expression right away and smiling at me,

"Sorry, Hyung. It seems something important came up so I have to leave for now." He said and I nodded.

Yes, please, and it would be great if you could come back in a few days. I can't wish for his death because he's the only one on my side for now. So, he's basically my protector.

I wonder if he'll be able to protect me from the rest.

"Alright," I smiled. "Take care on the road."

I watched him leave and the air around him suddenly changed. It was cold and serious. Was it a work call? I hope he wasn't going to murder someone.

Once the door closed, Cha Hyun-woo turned to me with a serious gaze.

"Just what did you do to draw that luna- I mean, Alpha Min-Cheol to your side?" He asked.

"Honestly, I didn't do anything." I answered but that alone wouldn't convince him as his gaze unwavered and that look of suspicion lingered. "I woke up this morning to find him staring at me. He said watching me sleep strangely made his mind feel peaceful. I don't know what's that about, but he's been glued to me ever since then."

It was the truth but sometimes, even the truth seemed impossible to believe.

I mean, knowing who Min-Cheol was, I wouldn't believe me either if I wasn't the one who experienced all of it.

"Hm," he still looked suspicious. "Did you come up with that excuse of not being able to control or feel your Pheromones as a lie to engage him?" He asked but I shook my head.

"Why would I lie about something like that?" I asked him. "I honestly can't feel it."

"That's strange." He exclaimed. "Are you capable of feeling other Pheromones?"

"I was able to feel the pheromones of the Master from yesterday when he went to pick me up from the auction house." I said.

"Hm," he scribbled it down and then scratched the butt of his pen on his hair. "I'll look into it. It's a situation I haven't heard of before."

"So, it's rare?"

"It's impossible." He said, sharply shifting his gaze to me which caused me to flinch in surprise. "Unless it's caused by external factors. I'm guessing there was a time when your senses were normal."

"Maybe." My eyes roamed the grounds. "I don't really know," I said and smiled nervously at him. "Probably before my accident but since I can't really remember any of it, I don't know."

"Right. You had an accident." He said and scribbled it down.

Wait, how did he know? Did Ki-hoon tell him about it?

"I'll let you know if I find anything," he said as he got up. "I don't think I'll be coming to do any checkups for the time being."

"Why not?" I asked as if I didn't know.

"You don't need it." That was all he said before turning and walking out towards the front door with one of the maids seeing him out.

"Bye, doc." I waved with a friendly smile but of course, he ignored me and walked out.

Usually, by this time, I'd have already had sex with one of the Alphas. The checkup would be needed after the sex to understand my condition, and if I had been mishandled, I would get treatment too.

Of course, one couldn't tell if one was pregnant just one day after sex, but the date, as well as my condition, needed to be noted in case someone else wanted to take their turn the next day.

This was also to ensure that an accurate calculation was conducted as to who the father was, in case I eventually got pregnant.

'Don't worry, Doc. We won't be getting news like that for a while.' I confidently thought, but when I thought of the sadistic bastard, I gulped. 'I hope.'

Since Min-Cheol was gone and there was no one to bother me, I was free to do whatever I wanted for the rest of the day.

The first thing I did was go to the library, of course. And there, I buried myself in reading to the point that I didn't even know when night had come.

It was thanks to the maids who came to remind me that dinner had been served that I got to know that the time had gone far.

I didn't have lunch and here I was, trying to regain my vitality. I'd just eat as much as I could and then return to the library.

It didn't look like Min-Cheol was returning that day and nothing from Ki-hoon either.

Was he still investigating? Or could he just not bear to lay his eyes on me after finding out the truth?

In any case, I couldn't afford to forget to carry a blanket while going to spend the night in the library. I can't afford to get sick, haha. But if I do, I'd just have that handsome doctor treat me.

Boy, I'd be getting on his nerves.

Luckily, the lighting system of the library was great so I didn't even need to take a torch with me. Not that I had one or anything like that.

The point is, I was able to read all night, and only got to close my eyes when it looked like the sun was starting to rise.

Thanks to the birds chipping outside, it was pretty obvious that it was dawn.

I yawned and dropped my head, planning to just sleep for a few minutes and then wake up to continue.

As if that would happen. It was a full-blown sleep from there, I tell ya. Any jobless person who shuts their eyes to sleep for a few minutes to when the sun was supposed to rise will definitely wake up a few hours later.

And that was the case for me.

But I did not wake up in the library. I woke up in my bed, in the mansion with the quilt covering me up to my neck and the book I had failed to finish upside down on the lamp table.

And it was still on the same page I had left it on.

"Ah, who is it this time?" I wondered.
