"It's a life-saving treasure!"
"Considering your decent talent and the fact that if you do survive the final trial which is highly unlikely. You will be bound to be targeted and attempts to kill you will be an everyday occurrence. Therefore, you can rely on this on such times." Old Man Hanxian spoke.
'Hmm… why would I be targeted and killed when I haven't even been outside this shady chasm yet!' Kai internally thought.
"Just how strong is a single attack of yours?" Kai questioned seeing the '???' near the mental strength.
"HAHAHA!" Old Man Hanxian laughed out loud in response.
"If you are curious, you should use the talisman and see." He said with an amused grin.
"Tch!" 'Stingy old man!'
"And why do I only get one, it's just a single time use, right? What will I do if I get targeted multiple times?" Kai asked.
"It's not like I am giving you a weapon, it's a life-saving treasure for a reason! For other times you have to obviously depend on yourself!" Old Man Hanxian spoke with a slightly annoyed tone.
"Besides, it's not like these things are easy to make! It takes decades of time and a ridiculously high amount of mana to create just one talisman of such a level!" He continued seeing through Kai's cunning intentions.
"Huh… it is what it is!" Kai muttered and stored the talisman in his ring.
"Let's immediately start with the fin-" Old Man Hanxian was cut short of his words.
"I apologise senior, but I need a little break, there's a promise I made with someone who could be a lot more scarier than even these hellish trials." Kai said.
He then turned to Lilith and continued. "See you soon, Lilith! Don't think that I have abandoned you or something stupid! I will be back!" Kai said with a gentle smile.
'Log Off!' He internally though and disappeared.
Old Man Hanxian opened his mouth to say something, but as if his words got stuck in his throat, he didn't say anything.
The same goes for Lilith, she just sat cross legged at that exact position and went into a meditative state.
Kai felt his consciousness return back as the familiar dark and senseless surroundings became evident.
"Arya… Cecilia…" Kai lightly called out.
Not even a minute passed before two stunningly beautiful young woman entered the room with big smiles on their face.
"You did well to remember brother! Otherwise, there would have been consequences!" Arya with her arms crossed nodded with satisfaction.
"How can I ever forget something my adorable little sister said?" Kai teased.
Arya blushed on hearing this and Cecilia chuckled.
They then brought him food and started feeding Kai.
"So, what did you do today brother?" Arya questioned.
"Oh, you won't believe it! I fought tons of monsters today; I fought the one's that chased me into the chasm and many more."
"Young master is already fighting monsters?" Cecilia chimed in the conversation.
"Of course, is something wrong?" Kai asked.
Cecilia shook her head. "No, it's just that majority of the players are mainly focusing on increasing their cultivation stages, so there's not many people who have started fighting monsters yet."
"Hmm… well it was part of the trial, so I didn't have a choice anyway." Kai said.
"Brother, you know there is an elite group formed by all the major companies called 'The Apex Order' they have completely dominated the game in this short amount of time and are miles ahead of the other players!"
"I heard one of their members from the famous Moonlight Organisation has already broken through to the Core Consolidation Stage in just a single day!"
"She has also started hunting and can instantly kill hundreds of monsters even above her own stage!" Arya spoke.
"Wow! Even I am still in the Core Formation Stage and here I thought I was doing well!" Kai said with a slightly dejected tone.
"It's not your fault brother! These organisations have literally bought every single rare thing that came up for auction for a fortune, just so they could get a head start in the game compared to others!" Arya spoke with a strange expression.
'I have to grow stronger fast!' Kai was once again reminded of his powerlessness.
"By the way Arya! When will you be joining the game? You also wanted to play right?" Kai asked.
"I-I s-still have a little work to do before I could play! I will come play as soon as I am done." Arya spoke, giving Cecilia a knowing look.
Cecilia lowered her head in response.
They talked for a few more minutes before Arya left to complete some work. Leaving Kai and Cecilia alone.
As Arya dashed back into her room, she glanced at her table on which an opened laptop was placed. She sat down on a chair as she started reading.
[Global Announcement - A player has obtained the world's 1st Emperor Grade Cultivation Technique]
[Global Announcement - A player has obtained the world's 1st King Grade Item]
{First King and Emperor Grade Items discovered}
{Who could these mysterious players be}
{The Apex Order is offering a fortune for the items and an opportunity for this unknown player}
{How high even are these grades. All that we currently know is that the grades are from star rank 1 to star rank 9. Where did these rank pop out from}
Tons of messages and comments completely filled the internet, discussing about these mysterious players.
"If only my luck was half as good as them." Arya let out a slight sigh.
...
"So, are you going to tell me what's going on?" Kai questioned with a stern tone.
"W-W-What are you talking about?" Cecilia said.
"You really think you both could hide things from me? Heah, you both are still kids in the field of lying. Just tell me why Arya was speaking strangely?" Kai said.
Cecilia looked at Kai with hesitant eyes but then sighed in defeat. "We really can't hide anything from the young master!" She said with a wry smile.
Kai waited for her to continue.
"As you know that she has recently started working at a restaurant shortly after our finances started growing smaller and smaller. She is extremely good at cooking and was immediately appointed as the head chef's assistant." Cecilia spoke with admiration filled eyes.
"Everything was going well until the son of the owner of the restaurant came. When he saw Young Miss Arya, he immediately took a liking to her. To which young miss obviously declined to all his advances. She had the head chef to support her so he wasn't able to do anything." Cecilia was visibly angry while speaking.
"Seeing this, that arrogant bastard has gone as far as to sabotage her dishes and plant fake customers and create a series of problems for the young miss just so she would lose her reputation and eventually her position."
"And lately young miss is constantly being scolded by the head chef for messing up the dishes and dissatisfying the customers." Her eyes were filled with anger and… helplessness.
"Therefore… our financial situations are not looking good and has been working overtime to make up for it!" Cecilia explained.
"…"
Seeing Kai was completely silent she grew worried and was about to speak when.
"Okay, I understand the situation." Kai lightly said.
"Please turn on the game, I have something important to do!" He spoke with a determined tone.
A small smile crept onto Cecilia's face on hearing this. She knew Kai's personality very well and could guess what he was planning. She switched on the button without saying a word and left the room.
As Kai's consciousness drifted apart only a single thought was present in his mind.
'I have to hurry and complete this stupid trial!'
