Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Dungeon

Guardian of Eagle City

Guardian of Zai City

Guardian of Ramos City

Guardian of Hai City

Guardian of Veto City

These are the titles I currently hold—five Guardian titles in total. If I manage to obtain fifteen, my Guardian title will evolve. You see, there's a ranking system among Guardians: the more titles you have, the greater the benefits and buffs you receive. The increase may be small, but it's still better than what most Guardians get.

The Ranking follows

‎Gurdian

‎Elite Guardian

‎Advance Guardian

‎Supreme Guardian

‎King Guardian

Oh, and there's also something beside my name that I forgot to mention. In this world, your name is visible to everyone you meet, and next to mine is this:

Alex Dawn

Number: 1

Defense: 0

The number indicates that I'm the first-ranked Guardian. If I die, the person who kills me will become Number 2. This number is included in all of my Guardian titles:

Guardian of Eagle City (1)

Guardian of Zai City (1)

Guardian of Ramos City (1)

Guardian of Hai City (1)

Guardian of Veto City (1)

Aside from the number, there's also the "Defense" stat. It tracks the number of people who have tried to kill you, and how many you've killed in return. It only starts counting after you've obtained the Guardian title. Since I haven't killed anyone yet, my Defense remains at 0—for now.

Hmm... looking at the sky, it's almost night. I better head back.

In the middle of the city, near the police station, a crowd had gathered—hundreds of civilians, a few policemen, and some soldiers mixed into the vicinity. Inside the office of one of the highest-ranking officers, five people stood.

Seated behind the desk was Mark Drake, accompanied by his children, Jack and Alicia. The remaining two individuals were prominent figures: General Garry Marshall, a middle-aged man from the army, and Chief Jane James, the head of the police. Both of whom are in charge within the city. Jane had long, flowing black hair and a strikingly beautiful face, appearing to be in her early thirties.

They were currently discussing the best course of action for the city.

"Can he be trusted?" Garry asked, his voice filled with doubt.

Mark narrowed his eyes at him. "If it weren't for him, we wouldn't even be having this conversation."

"But still," Jane added, "we don't really know much about him, do we?"

Mark sighed. "You're both aware of the gangs… and the prisoners right?"

"Of course," Garry replied quickly. "But that's what puzzles me. Ever since the apocalypse descended, they've been unnervingly quiet. Not a single riot, no chaos... Though I'm thankful, it's strange. Normally, it would've brought even more destruction to the city."

"Then you should thank him," Mark said firmly. "After the apocalypse began, he massacred them all—the gangs, the prisoners. That's why it's been quiet. I'm convinced he's a good person."

At that, the duo's eyes widened in disbelief.

"That's impossible!" Jane exclaimed.

"Are you really sure about this?" Garry asked, stunned.

Both of them had initially doubted this mysterious individual—especially after hearing that the City Lord himself claimed to be following this person's lead and was now working to restore order under his guidance. It sounded absurd… at first.

But after learning that the criminals and gangs had been wiped out because of him, their perspective began to shift. Perhaps the City Lord's trust wasn't misplaced after all.

"If he truly is a good person, it'll show through his actions," Jane thought, her expression serious. "Still… I need to observe him carefully if I ever meet him."

The same thought crossed Garry's mind.

Their eyes drifted to Mark's children, Jack and Alicia. A silent question lingered between them.

Just what have these two been through…?

In a distant land known as the Star Region, within one of the central cities—StarFall City—a tall, handsome 22-year-old man stood amidst the aftermath of a brutal battle. His golden hair shimmered under the sunlight, and his lean, muscular body was stained with the blood of countless monsters. Surrounding him were thousands of corpses, a testament to his power.

His name was Alex Gray, the main protagonist of the novel.

"Hmm... that one million I earned earlier, along with the new title, really made me stronger," he chuckled to himself. "With this, the monsters in the city have been completely wiped out."

A smug grin formed on his lips.

"To think I cleared an entire city on the first day"

He grinned mischievously, his eyes gleaming with ambition.

"I already have two potential harem members. Naturally, as someone who's read countless manhwas and novels, having a harem is one of my life goals."

Once an impossible dream, now it felt within reach.

"Order and chaos have begun to collide... and from here on, I will create the new order."

With that, Alex Gray made a silent vow to himself.

At exactly 8 PM, the mist began to spread across the world.

Fortunately, Alex had managed to find Mark just in time and warned him, "Don't wander outside at night."

Mark was naturally confused. Why would he warn others not to go out, yet he himself ventures into the night?

Perplexed, he chose not to question it. After all, he was now a subordinate. Still, he took Alex's warning seriously and passed it on to everyone in the city. Deep down, though, he couldn't help but wonder—Would there be troublemakers ignoring the warning by morning?

He sighed, rubbing his tired eyes. What a long day.

Meanwhile, elsewhere…

Alex Dawn stood atop the corpse of a massive mutant, a wide grin stretched across his face. The battle had been brutal, but the reward? Worth every second.

"One million coins," he muttered to himself, satisfaction dripping from his voice. "And now... my first dungeon."

In front of him stood a gate made of swirling purple mist. Ethereal, mysterious, and ominous.

So this is a dungeon gate, he thought, eyes gleaming with anticipation. The entrance to something unknown…

Excitement surged through him.

I wonder what kind of trials await me inside?

And with that, Alex disappeared into the mist.

The gate faded behind him, vanishing as though it had never been there.

And so, unknowingly, Alex Dawn became the first human in the world to ever enter a dungeon gate.
