Chapter 18 - Ye Ming’s End

"Th-this can't be…" Ye Ming muttered, his voice full of disbelief.

He was already exhausted, barely having any energy to subdue the previously weakened Bai Chen, but now, Bai Chen was full of energy, sniffing out the sliver of hope he was holding onto.

"Damn you." Thinking it over, Ye Ming quickly realized he had no hope of escaping. His face turned ruthless as he snarled, "Since I'm about to die anyway, I'll take you down with me."

As soon as Ye Ming stopped talking, the Spiritual Qi around him turned wild and chaotic, as if responding to his fury.

"Don't even think about it," Bai Chen spoke when he grasped Ye Ming's intentions.

He vanished from his spot and appeared right before Ye Ming, who planned to self-destruct and take both of them down.

Bai Chen immediately clenched his fist and punched toward Ye Ming's dantian.

A loud thud echoed as Bai Chen's punch landed on Ye Ming's dantian, destroying it completely.

Blood drained from Ye Ming's face as he started vomiting blood, the backlash simultaneously having his self-destruction interrupted, and his dantian getting destroyed was not something he was able to bear.

In only two breaths' worth of time, Ye Ming's eyes lost their luster and his heart stopped beating, signaling his death.

Bai Chen watched all of this with cold eyes, not showing any sign of guilt or empathy.

After living in this world for so long, Bai Chen was already accustomed to the idea of killing others, so this or the previous killing he did had no psychological burden on him at all.

Once he made sure Ye Ming was dead, Bai Chen started to clean up the battlefield, quickly taking off the spatial ring from the corpses around him.

Unfortunately for him, the spatial rings of the three Core Formation cultivators were destroyed during their self-destruction, which reduced the number of rings he obtained to four.

As he started to sort out the stuff in the spatial rings, he quickly noticed the ring he got from Ye Ming was a lot different than the normal ones.

"Damn son of a gun."

As he continued to inspect the ring, a shocked expression started to appear on Bai Chen's face and he couldn't help but exclaim.

This was because Ye Ming's spatial ring was not a normal one, instead, it was a more advanced version that could store even living beings in it, the space ring.

Bai Chen couldn't help but laugh out of happiness when he realized he had gotten his hands on a space ring, something that even those old foggies at Spirit Severing Realm covet.

What made a space ring so much more special than a spatial ring was not just its ability to store living beings, including other humans, but its vast space as well, as even the smallest space ring has a storage space of five hundred thousand square meters.

This made sure that once one got a space ring, they wouldn't need to get another ring or worry about running out of storage space for a long time.

"Hmmm?"

As Bai Chen was going through Ye Ming's stuff, he caught sight of something that really surprised him.

With a thought from him, a bloodied figure appeared in front of him, the figure's right arm was missing, and a deep scar ran from his shoulder to his waist.

The figure's grey eyes were half-closed, and his breathing was ragged.

"You are still alive?" When Bai Chen saw the figure in front of him, he asked, evidently surprised.

Looking at the figure in front of him, Bai Chen just sighed, "Let me put you out of your misery."

"Don't kill me."

Just as Bai Chen raised his sword, the figure sent him a message via spiritual sense.

"Huh?"

"Don't kill me, I can be of great use to you," the figure continued.

Hearing the figure's message, an amused smile formed on Bai Chen's face, "Great use to me? I am afraid that in your condition, you can't even be of use to yourself, Zhang Yu."

"You have killed the members of the Book of Satan, they would never let you off the hook." Hearing Bai Chen's reply, Zhang Yu quickly sent another spiritual message, "As a former member, I can help you throw them off."

"And how would you do that?" Bai Chen asked, clearly intrigued.

Zhang Yu finally looked up with difficulty, finally having enough energy to speak normally, "I know how they work, their hidden bases, and most importantly, I know about their techniques." Zhang Yu's voice was hoarse and low, "techniques they use to gather information and blend in with the shadows."

"With my knowledge, I can help you buy time, or even avoid them completely," Zhang Yu continued speaking, "in return, I just want you to destroy them when you are strong enough."

"Ho, but why would I believe that you would not betray me at a critical moment?" Bai Chen inquired, seriously considering the offer.

"I am willing to take a heavenly oath," Zhang Yu replied decisively, unwilling to lose Bai Chen's interest.

When Bai Chen saw Zhang Yu's decisiveness, he was quite surprised, but still spoke.

"I like your grit, and I would have even believed you a few days ago—but, unfortunately for you, I just learned that there are heavenly treasures that can bypass the bindings imposed by heavens."

"So… What are you going to do now?"

Hearing Bai Chen's response, Zhang Yu was stunned for a moment, but quickly composed himself.

His bleeding had stopped at the moment, and his dantian was not empty anymore, allowing him some breathing room to think.

"I have a lighter version of slave seal in my spatial ring," after thinking for a few moments, Zhang Yu spoke with gritted teeth, "it ensures that the slave remains loyal to their master without turning into a mindless zombie."

Astonishment appeared on Bai Chen's face when he heard Zhang Yu's words, because he knew what Zhang Yu was talking about.

The Slave Contract.
