Right after everything slowly returned to its normal state, Levin didn't hesitate to kick the door immediately. He didn't care about the illusionist's voice in his head. For now, he was far more concerned about Mira's situation on the other side of the room.
The soldier let out a deep, relieved sigh when he saw that besides suffering from excessive sweat and weak knees, the girl didn't have any trouble. When she finally noticed his presence, cries finally broke inside the room.
"Waaah! The aliens are so scary! I don't want to meet them again, Uncle Levin! Waaah!" She hugged the soldier tightly, venting out her grievance.
"It's okay… I know the aliens are scary, but they are not real… It is another illusion, don't worry about it… You are safe here, don't worry…" Levin kept repeating his words, trying to reassure the girl while he also kept soothing her back gently. Inwardly, he also felt guilty because this was indeed his wrongdoing. Fortunately, the girl somehow felt safe in his embrace as a few seconds later, the sound of her snoring could be heard filling the room. "Well, hopefully, she won't be affected too much by this incident."
Right after that, Levin put the girl on his back, ready to piggyback her to Chen Ze's place. He really needed to go to the scientist right now since the man was probably the only one who would have an idea about everything here. However, when he stepped outside of the building, the soldier was a bit surprised to see that only a small part of the sun was above the horizon already.
"Wait, it is still dawn yet?!" Levin blinked several times, dumbfounded. After all, his perception of time itself also went downhill after a series of weird things from the creepy dream to the uncontrollable illusion that happened to him. However, that was a good thing for him. "At least, we will have at least a full day to figure out what happened before the second round of the game begins."
Indeed, this was the sixth day of the game, which was also a day before the promised second round even began. Even though Levin knew that a part of it somehow involved the animals that would go berserk and them having to hunt for food, the detail was still missed, and with the new illusion power on his hand right now, they needed to change the plan for tomorrow.
Fortunately, Chen Ze was a workaholic mad inventor. When Levin saw the lamp on his residence was still on, he let out a relieved sigh before walking closely to the door. Right when the soldier was two steps away, his foot triggered a long series of beeping sounds, and a few seconds later, Eggly flew down from the sky before stomping its talons gently on his shoulder.
"Well, good morning, Eggly." Levin greeted the robot eagle politely.
"Good morning, Mister Levin." Somehow, the robot managed to answer his greeting in a coherent manner. Honestly, the first time Chen Ze showed this new feature off a few days ago, Levin was flabbergasted, couldn't believe his eyes – or his ears, to be more exact. After all, the ability to answer a question coherently showed a hint of intelligence there, and it was not something that could've been done in a few days, in which the man agreed as he said it was his old research that he finally had time to apply on his baby. That was not to mention the technology behind the robot voice that could mimic a human's voice so well that made it look alive. Honestly, at this point, Levin had already given up thinking about how Chen Ze could pull something miraculous like this.
"So, can I come in now?" Levin asked the robot eagle impatiently. "I have something to discuss with your master."
"Yes, Sir. Please, follow me." Eggly replied with a robotic tone.
Levin followed the robot eagle from behind as they entered the building. Right when he was inside, he couldn't help but shake his head, still in awe. Honestly, he didn't know how the man transformed the old, abandoned building into one of the most advanced labs that Levin had ever seen even in his old world. Hell, even the military laboratory wasn't this advanced, and Chen Ze managed to pull this out of nothing just in a couple of days. Levin had to admit that besides fighting, Chen Ze was probably the most resourceful player in this game.
"So, what do you want to make now?" He couldn't help but ask.
Chen Ze raised his head from his work for a second before answering, "Well, I am trying to replicate your laser gun, but I am struggling to figure out one of the components to stabilize the energy source before it shoots the laser. Wait a second." He said nonchalantly.
However, for Levin, this was not a casual manner. "What?! You managed to replicate my fucking gun?!" He widened his eyes in shock, still trying to maintain a low voice since he didn't want to wake up the girl on his back. "How so?!" In his mind, the laser gun was the epoch-making weapon in his world, and only the best scientists from some of the countries there could figure out the ins and the outs of it.
"What is wrong with you?" Chen Ze frowned a little at his dumbfounded expression. "It is just a laser gun, not such a big deal, right? Also, I told you that I haven't found one component that could stabilize the entire gun! Anyway, can you lend me your gun again so that I could have an inspiration here?"
Levin just chuckled wryly at that, hiding the laser gun in his pocket from being seen by the scientist. Even though the man tried to downplay his achievement, Levin knew clearly that replicating a modern weapon like his laser gun was not something that could be done in a night. However, by looking at the exterior design that was already about 70 percent matched with his own weapon, he somehow believed that Chen Ze could do that. However, he didn't want to see his weapon getting butchered once again by the scientist.
Seeing Levin's reluctance, Chen Ze just waved it off, knowing that the soldier didn't want to lend his weapon again. Still, he still gave the soldier a face and changed the topic immediately.
"So, where is the young lady? She is usually an early riser, waking you up for more training. I cannot understand her. Why would she want to get hit all the time when she has a pretty convenient ability that would make her royalty instantly?" He chuckled. However, when Chen Ze saw Mira's unusual state on Levin's back, his gaze turned solemn as the man asked, "What is going on?"
After putting the girl on the biggest bed in the building, Levin finally started to explain everything from A to Z. Hearing this topic, Chen Ze's eyes lightened up instantly as he pulled a small notebook out of nowhere, ready for the discussion. Even though it was still far too early, they both were ready to unravel the mystery of the awakening that had been bothering them all night. Maybe, this would be another clue for them to figure out this game better in the future.
