Jay-jay's POV
"Kit... I'm really sorry."
["Okay, it's my fault too. Sorry too."] Kit replied to me from the other line.
"Take it easy... Happy new year."
["Happy new year too. Thank you Jay."] He said before completely hanging up the call.
I'm embarrassed for him. He tried to kiss me. There! I punched him, his face was bruised. I was shocked so I moved my hand to punch him.
But because of that, he seemed to come to his senses and even thought about leaving his room. His Dad didn't even greet them.
Oh my!
His situation is difficult. I should talk to Mayo too. I need to hear his side and he's planning to do it too.
I'm a little confused by what Eren and Kit told me. Mayo is bisexual and Kit isn't the only one this guy has a relationship with. I know what Bisexual means, but I'm confused about Mayo. It's not obvious to him that he's like that.
DoKeifer know?
That's another problem. If Kumag already knew the truth he would probably have figured out a way to get these two out of Section E.
But if not, what would he do if he found out? Hahaha I don't want to think about it. They'd be miserable if that happened.
I heard the loud fireworks outside. It's not even 12 but if they can light firecrackers, that's fine.
You rich people!
We didn't buy any kind of fireworks. We're not here to celebrate. We're going somewhere.
Speaking of going, I haven't decided yet. I quickly ran to the bathroom to take a shower. I need to be fresh when welcoming the new year. I acted quickly. When I came out of the bathroom, I stopped when I saw Aunt Gema rummaging through my cabinet.
"Why, Aunt?" I asked.
She looked at me for a moment and smiled. "I'll choose what you'll wear."
Huh?!
"No need... I'm fine with pants and a shirt."
"No way... We're going to a party. You have to be dressed."
Dressed? I don't want to go. I'll just stay home. Snorlax and I are the only ones celebrating.
"Aunt, I don't feel good. I'm not going." I said while pretending to have a headache.
"Stop it, Jay... I won't be able to take my umbrella----here it is!" Aunt suddenly said while holding a white dress.
Oh my!
"..wear it! Hurry!" Auntie excitedly ordered me. Next time, I'll burn all the dresses in my closet. I had no choice but to take the dress and wear it. It fit me, but I wasn't comfortable.
"It's something for you..." Auntie said and looked at the dress.
She suddenly made me sit on the bed. She took out a comb and started to fix my hair. I honestly didn't like it like this. That's why I was embarrassed by her. She pinned my hair and put something like a headband on me.
"That's it... I'll put make-up on you later." Auntie said.
Hm?!
"Just like this, Auntie... I'm fine like this."
"No! You should have at least a little make-up." She insisted.
I had to smile and nod. I felt like a doll being fixed by Auntie. She said goodbye to me. She said she would fix and get dressed. He left me in the room while looking in the mirror.
I've never dressed like this before. Even at our prom at my old school, I didn't do this. Because I didn't attend. I took the bag that was supposed to be a small match for my dress. I left the room and went straight to the living room. It was Kuya and Aries who were there.
They both looked at me.
"N-nice.." Kuya said.
"Can I just wear pants and a shirt?" I said goodbye to him.
His eyebrows immediately crossed. "Stop." There was a hint of threat in his voice.
Pfffttt...
I slumped down on the sofa opposite Aries's seat. He was wearing a polo shirt and I have to admit he looked handsome now.
That's it, his look was seriously serious again. I couldn't tell if he was angry at the world or at himself.
His cellphone rang shortly after. He immediately stood up and said goodbye to Kuya. He said he was going to pick up Ella.
We waited a few more moments. I noticed that Brother Angelo seemed restless. It was like he was having a bowel movement.
"Are you okay?" I asked him.
He just shook his head and continued what he was doing. A few more moments passed and it seemed like he had something to tell me.
"Why?" I asked him again.
"Jay... Your friend Yuri. How is he?" he asked me.
Yuri?
"It's fine... I think they're still in Japan."
He nodded. "Did he say anything to you before he traveled?"
Did he?
Nothing, except that he wanted me to get married. I shook my head at Brother. "W-nothing... Why?"
He took a deep breath. He also touched his chest. "Do you like him?"
"H-ha?"
Is Brother okay? He was shocked! And why was he interested in Yuri? My goodness!
Kuya Angelo didn't say anything more. Aunt Gema and Grandma arrived. Following Tito Julz is here.
"Let's go. Let's go. We might be late." Tito said and headed straight to the garage.
We followed him. We were in an SUV. Aunt and Grandma were next to each other. Brother Angelo was the driver and Tito was next to him.
"Where are we going to the party?" I asked them.
No one answered me. Aunt and Grandma just smiled but Tito looked away. What's up? While on the road, I kept looking outside until I saw a familiar building. Yuri's building. It looked like we were going there too. Brother stopped in front of the main entrance. He handed the car keys to a man and we got off one after the other.
The entrance was already dark. The chandelier was so big.
I wanna swing... Like a---huh?!
I just started singing. What is that?!
We stopped in front of the elevator and waited for it to open. I was in the middle of them all. When the elevator door opened, we got in.
We were the only passengers so Aunty took the opportunity and took out her face powder. She applied it to my face then took out some lip gloss and put it on my lips.
"There! You're beautiful!" Aunty said.
The one who didn't move and couldn't move----that's me! We were silent for a moment until Grandma suddenly spoke.
"Jay... No matter what happens. Don't get angry with us. Listen to our explanation first." Grandma said.
I was a little confused by what she said. I was about to ask what that meant when the elevator door opened. They all got out so I followed. We walked down the hallway for the rich. The floor was shiny, I could see my reflection.
Oh, I can see my shorts!
We stopped in front of a big door with flower vases on both sides. The crew talked to Brother Angelo and then opened the door. I can only say one thing. Wow!
Aside from the number of people, they were dressed beautifully. It was obvious that the people here were full of arrogance----rich. That's the chandelier again. There were huge round tables on the side. The middle was a dance floor for those who really feel the music and want to dance.
The crew took us to our table which was quite close to the stage. Aries and Ella were there.
Wow! They were ahead of us...
I was about to sit down when I saw someone familiar. I thought I saw Keifer.
Jay..." someone called my name.
When I turned, I saw Yuri. I immediately walked up to him.
"You're back... So, where's my gift?" I asked, holding out my hand.
He just laughed while rubbing the back of his neck.
Is that it? Just a laugh?!
"Happy New Year," he said.
"Same to you... But seriously, my gift?" I asked again.
He laughed again and then suddenly pinched my cheek.
"Later," he said before heading toward our table.
I was about to follow him when someone grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the dance floor.
Before I knew it, one of my hands was in his while his other hand rested on my waist. I was so surprised that it took me a moment to realize we were already dancing.
When I looked closely at my partner, I saw it was Keifer. Why does he look so handsome tonight?! Both he and Yuri were wearing tuxedos.
"I know I look good, but you don't have to stare like that," he teased with a smirk.
Ugh, so full of himself!
"You're so arrogant," I shot back.
He just laughed, and I found myself staring at him again. His hair was perfectly styled, not the usual messy look he had before, and his earring stood out.
I've always loved that earring on him. I know there are plenty that look like it, but his just suits him so well.
"You look pretty," he said, making my heart race.
Pretty?! Ahhh!
"I don't have money to treat you to anything. My cash is still tied up in debts," I replied defensively.
"Tss. You really don't know how to take a compliment, do you?"
"I do. I'm just not used to hearing one from you."
He chuckled softly. I wasn't lying — he never really complimented me. Maybe he's only being nice because it's the holidays.
"What's this party even for?" I asked.
"You'll find out soon enough," he said before suddenly stopping the dance and letting go of me.
He gave me a small smile and walked away, leaving me standing alone in the middle of the dance floor.
The lights suddenly dimmed, except for a spotlight on the stage, and the crowd erupted in applause.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!" the host greeted with a microphone in hand. "...And Happy New Year!"
The crowd responded with another round of cheers.
"Thank you! Thank you!" the host said, raising his hand to quiet everyone down. "...Aside from celebrating the New Year, we are also celebrating Mr. Yuri Hanamitchi's birthday!"
The crowd clapped again, and that's when I noticed... everyone was looking at me.
When I glanced to my side, I saw Yuri standing right next to me, smiling and waving at the crowd.
"It's your birthday?" I asked.
He nodded. "Exactly at 12:30 a.m. on January 1."
Cool!
"We'd also like to announce the partnership between the Hanamitchi Corporation and the Fernandez Corporation!" the host continued, and another round of applause filled the room.
Fernandez? Isn't that my brother Angelo's company?! Since when did they have a partnership with Yuri's family?!
"...And as a symbol of their partnership, we'd like to announce the engagement of Mr. Yuri Hanamitchi and Jasper Jean Fernandez Mariano!"
I was about to clap along with the crowd — but then I froze.
Wait. My name? Engagement?! What the heck is happening?!
Yuri placed his hand on my waist and pulled me closer. He kept smiling and waving, but my mind was spiraling.
"Y-Yuri... What's going on?!" I whispered, panicking.
He looked at me curiously. "Didn't Angelo tell you anything?"
Tell me what?! That's why I'm asking!
"Jay... This is a business deal between Angelo and my grandfather. We're getting married."
The shock hit me so hard that my mind went blank. I couldn't even hear the crowd's cheers anymore.
Before I knew it, I was already walking out of the hall, tears streaming down my face.
It felt like the whole world had made a fool out of me.
Why is this happening? Why?...
