Sarah arrived in the living room, where Anna was sitting at the head of the table, and believed that everything would change from now on. She would no longer be a maid in that house. Anna would give her back the power of a mistress. But when she dragged her chair over to sit down, Anna stopped her with a gesture of her hand.
"No. You're not going to sit down. We'll talk this way. Also, don't come any closer to me. Keep your distance from now on."
Sarah gave her best hurt look, and was already thinking of saying words to move Anna, when Judith came in with a tray of her favorite cocktail, and she felt the joy return, until the glass was placed in front of Anna, who took it, and after taking a sip, clicked her tongue with a satisfied countenance.
"My child... You have to help me." Sarah said, thinking of appealing to her pure feelings. "I'm here, in charge of washing toilets. I'm treated like dirt in this mansion."
Anna drank some more of the cocktail, then looked Sarah in the eye.
"I'm not your daughter. Please don't call me that. It's an insult to my mother's memory. I asked you here to clarify a few things about my mother."
"Aren't you going to help me?"
"Never. You killed my mother, my brother, and tried to kill my son. Don't look to me for pity, Sarah. I didn't even have a hand in the decision to put you in this situation. But I confess that I liked it. And on the other hand, it's probably no worse than what I went through after you pushed me down the stairs.
"You don't look like you've had a bad time. You've got nice skin and silky hair. Even those rags you wear look elegant on you now. Looking at it this way, you can understand that I pushed you to change your life and stop being Adam's whore. You should thank me... And the child? Is it a boy or a girl?"
"It's nothing you'd be interested in. Mom's lineage is guaranteed. I have four children to spread my blood over several generations. But don't worry about it. You won't get to know them. As for thanking you, I'll do it at the last moment."
Sarah cracked a sarcastic smile.
"You came back to kill me, then?" She asked, and then laughed. "What a fool you are. Do you really think that a woman like me, who gained enough knowledge from a powerful mist like your mother, would pass through death without leaving a path back to life?"
"So, Mom was a powerful mist... Why didn't she use her knowledge to avoid passing through death?"
"She was very young, and believed she could do the spell with time in the future that I stole from her. I took everything she had. Her life, her husband, her son, and her daughter..."
"And how does that work? How are you going to avoid death?"
"If someone kills me, my spirit will enter the first child to be born, the closest one. And what's better, with all the memory and knowledge of the old spirit."
"And you really believe this nonsense?"
"Yes. It's not nonsense. She had an old book all about it."
"I bet it's about bad things."
"Yes. Your mother didn't even like to pick it up. Its pages were bloodthirsty."
"Where is the book?"
"It got lost over time. We've moved so many times that I don't even know where it is anymore..."
"You're lying." Anna said quietly. "You said you'd come back if someone killed you. So if you die of old age, you won't come back?"
"No... But I know I will, because you won't leave me alive. That's clear in your eyes. I'm not going to die naturally, am I?"
Anna looked at her thoughtfully. She had a smile on her lips.
"So, Sarah... I already know that Mom was from Ireland. She wasn't Scottish and yet her roots made that country her home. And you killed them all, along with Allister. What else do you know about her?"
Sarah crossed her arms.
"You want information? You'll have to pay me for it. I already told you she was a mist, and that information was free. But now, I have a price for each piece of information."
Anna finished her cocktail and shouted for Judith, just as Kate entered the living room, accompanied by Caricature, and they sat down at the table, deliberately ignoring Sarah's presence. No one there liked that witch. Judith rushed in, her eyes red from crying and her face flushed.
"Did you call me?" she asked in an embarrassed voice.
Anna frowned.
"Is something wrong, Judith?"
Tears streamed down the woman's face, but she just put her head down.
"No."
"I blew my penis into her vagina." Alexandre said, coming through the kitchen door and sitting down.
Everyone looked at him in surprise.
"You... What did you do?" Caricatura asked and Kate started laughing.
The laughter was contagious and soon everyone was laughing, except Judith.
When Anna managed to control herself, she tried to be sympathetic.
"I have repair oil in my room, Judite. After dinner, go there and use it in my bathtub."
"Thank you, Mrs. Lens, but he gave me oil and I'm going to use it in the guest bathroom. There's a bathtub there."
"Was it good, Judite?" Kate asked.
"Kate!" Anna tried to hold in her laughter and scold Kate, but she was also curious.
"Do you need anything? I don't think you called me here to find it funny that a boy who is old enough to be my grandson..."
"Don't be dramatic, Judith!" Caricatura said, interrupting the woman's lament. "Next time, relax and have an orgasm. Are you a widow? Do you have a husband? What's wrong with that?"
"Judite, make me another of these cocktails, and whatever Kate and Caricatura want, and then go take care of yourself. Have the other cook take care of serving dinner."
"The same as Anna is drinking, for both of us." Caricatura said seriously when she turned to him.
"I'll have a cocktail too." Sarah spoke up, and Judith turned to Anna, as if asking permission.
"You can bring it for her, too." Anna nodded thoughtfully.
"I want to sit down too." Sarah took the opportunity to ask. Her legs were aching.
"Not near us." Caricatura said without looking at her.
"You can sit down. That's paid for two more pieces of information." Anna said quietly.
"What do you want to know?"
"Do I have cousins? Uncles? Grandparents?"
