Adam left after Anna, still a little dazed, with the new Anna, who seemed the same in some ways, but cold compared to the woman who killed her mother. He met Alexandre in the kitchen, drinking orange juice and laughing about something with Judith.
"Alexandre, go get Mycon and take his place, and teach my son everything you know." He said and sat down at the table. Judith found this strange. It was very rare for him to sit there. She saw that his eyes were confused. He needed to talk to someone.
Alexandre left to say goodbye to Judith and she approached Adam.
"Do you want something to eat or drink, boss?"
Adam looked at her, as if he had only just realized her presence.
"You and Alexandre...?"
She turned red.
"He makes me, boss."
"You didn't look unhappy when you were shouting at him not to stop, Judith."
Judite felt her face catch fire.
"Who said that?"
Adam pointed to his head.
"I can see it, Judith."
"I thought you filtered out some moments..."
"Yes. But that moment in particular made me curious and intrigued."
"Why?"
"Because if I'd known that you... Uh... That you liked it, I'm sure you would have been in my bed too."
Judith felt flattered and smiled.
"Boss! I'm just an old woman..."
"No, Judith. You're not an 'old woman'. You're an attractive woman. Your years of experience make you even more desirable to werewolves. You're a beautiful woman."
Judite felt her face heat up again.
"Thank you, boss."
They remained silent and Judith decided to pour him a cup of coffee.
"If you loved someone very much and they suddenly showed you their terrible side, what would you do?"
"It depends... If that side got to me, I'd walk away immediately, but if it wasn't something that person brought into my home and into our life together, I'd pretend I didn't even know that their terrible side had been awakened. I would also try to find out why..."
Adam pondered those words.
"You're right. I don't think anyone is completely good. We all have a dark side. Humans and werewolves."
"God is good."
"He's good, and yet he's killed a lot of people..."
"Boss! He had reason to. And He can. Don't you do what you want with what belongs to you?"
"I know."
"Then put these things out of your mind."
Mycon entered, and immediately sat down opposite Adam, with an animated expression.
"Judith, can I have a glass of water, please?" He asked and turned to Adam. "Boss, the boy was born for this life. Can you believe his aim is better than Alexandre's? He only missed the first few shots, but once he'd hit the first one, he didn't miss any more..."
Judith placed a glass of iced water in front of Mycon, and a werewolf gin drink in front of Adam, since he hadn't touched the coffee cup, and he thanked her with a nod, before turning to Mycon.
"I'm glad to hear that Ian has inherited my talent with weapons."
"No, boss. He's much better than you."
Adam closed his eyes and Judith and Mycon laughed.
Adam took Anna's list out of his pocket and handed it to Mycon, who took it, and as he read the contents, his face changed expression. When he had finished, he looked at Adam inquiringly.
"How many people do you have in mind?"
"Not for me."
Mycon's eyes widened. It was for Anna. She would use it all on Sarah. It wasn't hard to come to that conclusion, after Adam's request the day before.
"I'll arrange it immediately... A radio with a good loud sound would be ideal to prevent anyone from hearing the noise, boss. Because... the screams are going to be... terrifying."
"She wants to hear every one of them, she's going to record it. She doesn't want any interference with that sound."
Mycon looked surprised, but didn't comment on what he thought.
"Where should I take these things?"
"To the basement of the workers' house, just outside the mansion. You know where it is."
Mycon nodded affirmatively.
"Are those things for today?"
"Yes. But you can take everything there when you take the victim, too. I want us to have lunch in peace."
"I'm sorry, boss, but I'm not going to take part in this. I'll send trusted men, but I don't want to take part... No, since it's going to be like this."
"No problem. Send men who are absolutely trustworthy and cold-blooded."
"Yes... I'll send some who use drugs frequently, to help with the finalization..."
"No. That will take time. The finalization won't be today."
"You're telling me she's going to do all this, and then prolong it?"
"That's right."
Mycon picked up the glass of water and drank it in one go.
"I can't judge her. She killed her mother, her brother, her relatives, and tried to murder her son. Maybe, if I were in Anna's place, I'd do a lot worse."
"Do you know?"
"Everyone knows. Caricature wanted it that way, so that no one would turn against Anna, believing her to be a bad person."
"And how does Caricatura know?"
"He knows everything that happens here. Ask him later. I think Kate talked to Anna and then told him everything. And her family history... It's not your family's secret."
Adam took a deep breath.
"What about what I asked you?"
"The woman charged a lot to undo the spell, but she did it. She said that within three days, he'll be disgusted with himself for having stayed with her, or she'll return the money I paid... But, from the looks of it, he won't have those days left, and we'll never know if the spell worked."
"Yes, we will. If he looks for her in desperation, it's because she didn't do her job properly, but if he doesn't even miss her, or doesn't talk or ask about her anymore, then it will have worked."
"Yes. I hope she did a good job. I don't want to see my partner suffer for the witch."
Adam then sipped the drink that Judith had placed in front of him.
