Chapter 5 - chapter 5

That night however, I was woken to the screeching of my cell door. Me and my cell mate were instantly on alert. I sat up and look over to a guard who held a candle in his hand. He looked tired but serious as his eyes locked onto me.

"You, full breed, get up. His highness has requested a blood bag. Lucky you, you get the honor of being useful for once in your life."

I huff in annoyance at his remark but focused more on the message. The prince? Why would the prince suddenly decide to have a blood bag so late? Based on the fact we are so far down the line and there are other full bloods imprisoned here, it doesn't make sense why I of all people was picked.

Regardless though I slide off the stuff bed and stretch my aching limbs. I walk over to him while he impatiently secured my wrists behind my back with cuffs that were secured slightly too tight so they dug into my skin. My cell mate watched warrily from the corner but already tired out his determination from earlier with all his excessive tantrums.

The guard tugs me along by the arm as though I was taking too long when he was the one making unnecessary comments earlier.

I followed him for awhile down the hall passing some asleep and some wary wolves, some looking confused where I was being taken and others looked as though I was a dead ghost flying by, pity and indifference.

Soon we made it back up the stairs into the huge halls of the palace. This time I'm led into the main entrance room and then up one of the huge staircases and into another, wider hallway. All this walking is such a pain. In our village this much steps could get you to the opposite side of the village. Here you can barely get halfway through the palace with the same amount. Talk about a workout.

Eventually we stop at two big black and silver doors with pretty flowers ingrained in it's structure. The guard knocks on the door, the soft, firm sound echoing slightly into the darkness. Even the fountain was silent at this hour.

"Your Highness, I have the blood bag you requested. The king will be thrilled to hear you finally have accepted a blood bag."

I pause. I knew why I was here from his earlier words but still.... hearing it again sent a chill down my spine. He spoke as though I was merely cattle to be used for it's milk. Kinda pissed me off a little honestly.

".... bring him in."

The princes voice surprised me. It was smooth and low but not to low. It's the kind that people would hope to hear sweet nothing's in your ear...who knew the enemy had such a nice voice?

I guess I got to caught up in my head again because next thing I knew the ground roughly grabbed my arm and pushed me inside the now open doors. I stumbled in and just managed to steady myself considering if I fell now id land on my face since currently I have no access to my hands. I turn my head and flash a glare at the guard who glares back with a small smirk. That proud little ass.

I hear the sound of a chair creak and glance over to see the prince at his desk in the corner of the room. He had paperwork all over his desk and some books on the floor. His focus was now on me however as he lean forward and propped his chin in his palm, eyes calm and unearving. Just like the kings, the prince was of Royal blood and therefore inherited those magenta and red mixed eyes. He had black, messy hair that fell halfway over his eyes but somehow the hairstyle looked almost childish for his mature, serious expression. He wore a black button up tucked into black pants that made him look professional even at this time of night.

"You are dismissed, sir Alexander."

I saw the guards mouth open as if to protest but he sighs and leaves with a small bow.

"Of course your highness. Would you like for me to retrieve and return the blood bag when you're done?"

The princes eyes finally left me for once to flick to where the guard stood, holding the doors open as he waits for his response.

"No, I'll handle it."

He reluctantly nodded before leaving. Once again my instincts crawled with the feeling of eyes on me. This whole time I had been silently observing as I was trained but now I was forced to be a part of the action. We both just have an awkward amount of silence and continued eye contact for awhile. He looked deep in thought for awhile.

After we got to the point I was about to start banging my head against the wall to kill the silence, he suddenly stood up and approached me. He was a slight bit taller than I and from what I could tell about the same amount of toned. I definitely wasn't a fan of feeling shorter considering I'm one of the tallest in my village and that's the only thing I can hold over my friends heads....

He stopped right in front of me and stared before speaking in his soothing voice.

"...I trust by now you know why you're here. I don't normally like feeding from anything past an animal but I have no other choice.i want you to be comfortable at least, so if I release your restraints do you promise to be good and stay still?"

I didn't like the way he said that last part but I knew better than to be difficult when my captor is offering a more comfortable position so I nod.

"Fine."

I knew I healed fast anyway and losing a little blood would only weaken me for a day or so. He nods and I could see his shoulders relax just the faintest but as I agreed. He walked behind me and carefully opened up the cuffs letting my wrists breathe. I grunt in pain. I hadn't realized just how tight it was until it fell off my wrists. When I examined my wrist I find a slight purple line with outer highlights of a pink. It stung and aches a little but started slowly healing.

The prince seemed to notice this, he stood in front of me again and took one of my wrists carefully, examining it. He looked really displeased and I had a feeling he had given orders not to be to forceful before because he muttered 'that idiot' under his breath with quite the amount of aggression. He took a deep breath to calm down before releasing my wrist.

"I'm sorry if my knight was a little rough. I'll have to speak with him later."

I followed him over to his bed when he signals it. I wasn't afraid of a little bite and honestly wanted to head back to bed so I decided to just do what he said. He motions for me to sit and I do, the bed sinking softly with a surprising amount of comfort. I scoot back slightly and get a little comfortable. When I stopped moving he leaned down with hands on either side of me on the bed.

"The first bite will probably hurt more than you expect but the venom will soon numb it so try to relax."

His soothing words seemed as though he was coaching a kid into accepting a shot. He would probably make a damn fine nurse honestly...my thoughts drift off and I hardly notice the pain of his fangs in my neck. They did definitely hurt as they sunk in my neck but I feel worse on a daily during my training that I normally do by fighting in half shifted form with other full breeds of the village. (Fighting with a half breed while allowing our instincts out is dangerous for them since they heal way slower then full breeds and are less strong.)
