Chapter 7 - Expectations and reality

True to his promise, the patriarch and Tessron sent me loads of books. The thing is, I have read most of this in my past life. I still want to skim through more to find out what caused this rebirth madness.

I have a lot of questions,

Who kidnapped my mother and why?

What happened to the original Viktor, and is there a Lucas Silvaires in this timeline?

Finally, how the hell will I reverse this thing?

I was deep into my thoughts when I heard a knock. soon after, Russ entered.

"Young master, Lord Tessron has arranged a trainer for you. He is waiting for you in the training gym," he said and left me a set of gym clothes.

I am around five or six, it's almost time for my aura induction. I know this body does not belong to me, but I know for a fact that Viktor, in my past life, was way too strong for his age.

I am currently Viktor, so I will have his exceptional aura control and will naturally be blessed with a strong aura reserve. Viktor got a fifty-fifty aura affinity to water and air, he created ice out of it.

I walked past multiple painting-studded hallways to reach the gym. The gym had glass doors which opened upon my arrival.

The room was filled with normal gym equipment and aura training equipment, aura aura-infused pool, aura aura-based air curtains. The Voltaries family had the aura affinity to the wind element, so they must have added the pool for me.

Now, the main question. Why is a five-year-old here?

They will not make me do some heavy training in my weak body. Right?

Guess what? NO!

"Let's hurry to work, shall we?" Standing before me was Rudwick Arman, with his tall and muscular build, his tanned and shaved forehead was shining under the ceiling lights. He is the captain of the Sterling Unit of the Public Safety Commission, PSC for short. Rudwick was a close friend of Tessron, so he must have cashed in a favor to train me.

"Let's start with evaluating the aura affinity and aura reserves, It will show me what sort of training I can put you through. You can only start using the elemental powers after your aura-induction, but we can prepare your body for the powers beforehand," he added, cracking his knuckles, flexing his fully tattooed arms.

"What should I do now?" I asked, tilting my head a little, knowing what was about to come.

He threw a wristwatch at me.

"This is an aura-powered device. Once you sync your aura with it, it evaluates the capabilities, and we can use it to prepare a training regimen, put it on, and hurry up!" he said, cracking his neck with his left arm.

The rush this man is in, you would think he has a meeting with the Ultra-Elite committee in five minutes!

I locked that watch around my wrist and concentrated my aura on my wrist.

[Welcome!]

[Evaluating aura affinity .... 0%]

[Evaluating aura affinity .... 25%]

Finally, the moment of truth,

[Evaluating aura affinity .... 100%]

The watch started beeping

[ water - 25%, air 25%]

Wait! NO, this cant be happening, What the actual Fuck!?

I started to repeatedly hit the watch, thinking it would magically alter the results.

"We don't have much to work on, bud, you have to push, hurry up!"

"There might be something wrong with it!" I tried to protest.

Rudwick sighed and shook his head with a shrug.

"Let's build stamina, start running laps till I tell you to stop. Hurry, run!"

I gave him a long, hard stare and started to run, mumbling under my breath.

This is not what I remember, these stats make me feel like I was really blessed in my past life!

Did the real Viktor build everything from this point? No way I am believing that! I still remember the first day I saw him.

I was around 15, I went to the "Annual Eight-School Battle-Showdown", a competition that occurs every year that facilitates aura-showdowns between the best students of all eight major battle training academies. I went there to gather data for my research on aura-affinity manipulation.

"Did u hear, there is a first-year kid in South's lineup!" I heard an excited brown haired guy whispering to a tall red-haired guy next to him.

"I would enjoy seeing someone getting trashed the very first day" the latter replied while poking his ear.

"wanna bet!" The conversation started to fade away, but not my interest!

I got myself an aura-analyzer glasses, which went well with my light brown hair and honey-colored eyes.

The arena was filled with a bustling crowd with various colored flags and jerseys. The excitement in that arena was a sight for sore eyes.

ACHOOOOO

I heard a sneeze and a sudden commotion of people chattering.

I turned to see an entire corridor entrance frozen with huge icicles popping out of the ground. What in the world is happening here?!

I activated my aura-analyser to get a closer look.

"Heh, my bad!, My bad!" I saw a kid with silver hair scratching the back of his head with one hand and sheepishly wiping his nose with the other.

"There are germs, Viktor! GERMS!" said an olive-skinned guy, handing him a napkin, which the former took with a lazy grin.

The chaos died down for the main event to start

"For the first match, we have the rookie from the south who casually froze the corridor with a single sneeze. Let's give it up for Viktor Voltaries!"

The crowd went crazy as the announcer bellowed his name.

Viktor walked in, taking his glasses off, revealing his icy blue eyes, giving the crowd a wave and a shiny smile.

Diva much?

"On the other end, we have the furnace of the north, the undefeated Marlen Marks!"

The crowd went crazy again as a tall, burly guy with dark brown hair and grey eyes walked in with a serious expression.

It was a tradition for the challengers to shake hands, but the Marlen guy clicked his tongue and turned away as Viktor offered his hand. Viktor retracted his hand with a smirk.

The challengers took opposite sides of the arena, the visitor podiums were shielded to avoid the impact from the attacks. I adjusted and zoomed in my analyzer and opened my virtual notepad to take notes.

"Eternal Furnace!" Marlen launched three beams of fire, which twisted and merged into one, turning orange.

"That is Marlen's strongest attack, he is not wasting any time, huh?" I heard a person in front of me say.

Now I am even more pumped, I want to see what this Viktor guy is all about.

The flames grew little by little, it became a huge ball of high-heat flame, which was almost the size of a human, and it was seconds away from reaching Viktor.

Viktor let out a sigh, looked low-key bored, flipped his hand,

"Le Avalanche de Meridon", he drawled out.

the entire arena starting from Viktor's feet froze, and the ice started short, but when it reached the other end of the arena, it was as tall as a small mountain.

The crowd went nuts.

"V-Viktor wins!" the announcer stuttered out, slowly coming out of his shock.

Viktor snapped his fingers, and all the ice shattered. Marlen was on the ground shivering, Viktor walked close to him and clicked his tongue and shook in head, put his hands in his pockets and left with a spring in his step.

This is NOT a match, this is pure and utter humiliation! Is that guy human? He is 15? For heaven's sake, I am 15 damnit!.

I keep playing that scene on replay in my aura-analyzer; it was something I never thought a 15-year-old would be capable of. I hate how effortless this guy made it look.

"Faster! Hurry up!" I heard a roar from the other end of the gym.

I sighed, a long, deep sigh, and started to run faster.

There is no way a 5-year-old Viktor was once running around in the gym being yelled at by a bald drill sergeant. Imagining that, I don't know if I should laugh or cry!.

That Viktor is not here, right or wrong, I am Viktor now, I can't do anything about it, as of now, at least.

This is the second chance life handed me.

This time… I'm not going to sit in the audience and watch.

This time, I'll live without regrets. I'll do everything I never got to do before.
