Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen : The tower, its secrets and twisted truths

The forest surrounded them like a living, breathing entity.

Shadows danced among the trees, silently following their footsteps.

The closer they got to the tower, the denser the air became, and the distinctive smell of mould and mystery grew stronger.

The place seemed to come alive, but a strange, unsettling life.

When the tower finally appeared in front of them, it was a sight that blended majesty and horror.

Its dark stones bore the marks of time, engraved with mysterious symbols that emitted a faint glow, as if trying to emanate a hidden spirit.

At the top of the tower, dim light danced as if whispering in an unheard language, drawing them in without giving them a chance to retreat.

"This tower... it's like it's been watching us from the beginning." Lin said, feeling a strange anxiety creeping in.

"Oh, great, with horrors like that, we might as well be in a first-rate horror film." Ren, who tried to keep his cool, replied with a wry smile.

They approached the large door of the tower, where a new symbol was carved with majestic precision.

The symbol was unlike any other; it pulsed with a strange rhythm, as if it were a heart beating with deadly patience.

Maro bent down to analyse it, but stopped abruptly, his eyes frozen on something only he could see.

"These symbols... they're not just a language, they're a warning."

At that moment, sounds like whispers emerged from the tower, but they were heavy and ominous.

Small creatures, with black bodies and misshapen limbs, emerged from the shadows surrounding the door.

Their eyes, red as embers, watched them, but they did not attack.

"What do they want?" whispered Yumi, bracing herself for any sudden movement.

The creatures advanced slowly, as if pushing them inside.

The tower seemed to slowly open its doors, but with each moment, their sense of danger increased.

Maru, who was looking at the symbol, said in a trembling voice: "This place is alive. These symbols... they're not just warnings, they're parts of something bigger."

The team finally entered the tower, and found themselves in a vast hall with walls covered in scattered symbols, glowing and fading with every step they took.

The place exuded a strange energy, as if the stones themselves held forgotten secrets.

But the atmosphere wasn't just mysterious; it was heavy and filled with a smell of danger that couldn't be ignored.

Suddenly, the entire tower shook as if something huge had moved in its depths.

Heavy footsteps sounded from above, and a strange rumbling sound echoed through the place.

The shadows in the corners began to move as if they were breathing, and the whispers became clearer, speaking in a language they didn't understand.

"We are not alone here." Yumi whispered, her eyes searching the darkness.

"Whatever it is, we will face it." Lin said firmly, trying to show his courage.

But just as they were preparing to face what lay ahead, a huge shadow appeared from the top of the tower.

Its shape was unnatural, its limbs twisted as if it belonged to another world.

The dim light reflected in its eyes, which glowed like two dead stars, holding the promise of danger.

The tower was not just an ancient place full of secrets, it was a living trap, waiting for the right moment to close its doors on them.

The tower surrounded the team with a mysterious weight, and every step inside the first floor carried an unspoken dread.

The shadows on the walls began to move, as if silently watching them.

Suddenly, the team began to feel that something strange was happening, as they noticed that five of their members had disappeared without warning.

Panic began to seep into the group, but Maru tried to calm them down, saying, "This tower does not reveal its intentions clearly, what happened now is part of its game."

Inside the second floor, the tower grew more mysterious with each step.

The walls engraved with symbols began to glow irregularly, as if reacting to the team's presence.

The long corridor in front of them ended in five mysterious doors, each one pulsing with a different glow, as if it held secrets that could not be ignored.

When they opened the doors one by one, they found one of the members who had disappeared on the first floor behind each door.

But they were no longer the same; each of them had been transformed into a deformed being, their bodies twisted and their eyes filled with anger and inner conflict.

The rooms themselves were more than just a space; each room displayed the disappeared person's past, the present they were experiencing, and the future they feared.

"If this is the key to freeing them, we have to break this shackle." Lin said firmly as he observed the scene.

The team began destroying the cherished objects inside the rooms, despite the psychological pain that accompanied each step.

When the puppet in the first room was destroyed, the deformed monster gradually began to retreat, returning to its human form, but the effects of the experiment were still evident.

As the doors gradually disappeared and a staircase leading to the third floor appeared, a mysterious voice echoed: "The closer you get, the closer the truth gets, but no one makes it out of the tower unscathed."

"There's no turning back now, we need to find out what's behind this place, no matter what it takes." Lin said steadily, looking at the others.
