Chapter 16 - Purity

After talking so much, Lingshe gradually calmed down, only giving some more details she know when asked. The main part was already spoken and she didn't really have the time to participate in the follow-up.

Seeing her behaviour of becoming a bit reclusive, her grandfather also understood her intention. He didn't keep the clan meeting for long and just said "Yongxu, investigate the rumours regarding this.

Yongli, you go and find out who else has experienced misfortune at the hand of the seventh prince. We can help each other. There is no need for only our family to participate in this matter.

I also want to have a report on our sales the past few months – who bought the most luxuries, where did they land, what was their purpose, and so on. Although we haven't directly participated in politics as the Yu clan, we still have to show our strength when questioned like this.

Alright, go away, we will talk about this next time! The clan meeting will be held on the first day of the week from now on, until things calm down."

The uncles bowed to their father and dispersed. Lingshe's father didn't leave long but waited outside the main hall, while the others directly became busy.

Luyen looked and Lingshe and said "Okay, I know you want to go back to cultivation. Just come to the clan meeting if you have time, there is no need to participate in each one. Cultivation is the most important matter."

Although Luyen didn't know what she was cultivating, he thought it was similar to martial arts. There were also arts that were obscure, used mainly by Taoists, the Buddhists also had weird abilities besides their strong fists, while there was even a kingdom in the south who was able to cast spells and such.

Since his Yu clan was ancient, he didn't doubt one bit that they would have a little bit of everything. His own martial art also came from the Yu clan's library, the key inheritance that was hidden away for countless generations should have even more.

Naturally he wouldn't ask the specifics about the matter. Since the day the heavenly thunder sounded, he promised himself not to ask or doubt Lingshe's matters – she would surely have her own ideas. Even this matter with the seventh prince was directly accepted.

Usually, it would be Lingshe that had to bring about some real evidence before the clan would work in this direction, but instead, he directly believed her and ordered his sons. They, on the other hand, just followed the orders of their father.

Maybe Lingshe had already talked with grandfather of this matter and she was now just repeating her own idea, to ensure the credit falls on her and doesn't disappear in the great elder's sea of credits.

Lingshe smiled and bowed to her grandfather "Thank you, grandpa! I knew you were the best! After sorting out my cultivation and staying in seclusion, there will be many matters we have to do… it's best I go directly into seclusion and clear the things I have to do before taking care of other matters!"

"Um, go now!" he smiled, while his mind was churning with ideas of preparing the Yu clan for things that might even cause the wrath of heaven. Naturally he didn't think the wrath was directed at them – still, he had to prepare.

Lingshe left the hall only to be stopped outside by her father. Seeing him like this, she naturally knew it was because of the blessing she gave her grandfather that he was so agitated.

She smiled at him knowingly "Dad, do you also want to be strong like grandfather?"

He nodded up and down like a chicken pecking the ground "Alright, it's not difficult to achieve this. Only… dad, I wasn't joking when I said you have to leave the backyard more. Although spending time with the concubine is important, the current matters are even more important.

I don't care whether her child is a son or a girl, she will probably inherit your current position, so take good care of that child in the future. Do you promise me you will start to properly take care of your concubine from now on?"

Although he spent a lot of time in the backyard, it was actually a compensation for not giving his second wife true affection. Regardless of other matters, he loved his first wife romantically while he spent the nights with his second wife. If it wasn't because this arrangement was set by Lingshe's mother, she wouldn't be able to accept a father like this.

But, the current way of handing the matter was bad – it's fine if you spent the nights in the backyard, but why do you never spent the days there? He hasn't bought any things for the child either.

She sighed "Dad, I know you have a lot of thoughts in your mind even though you don't show it. It's not good to be like this. Since you took this concubine under mother's arrangement, she naturally approved of you. As for me, I am more than happy to have a little sibling!"

A stone fell from Yongxu's heart when he heard this. He tried his best to compensate everyone and wasn't able to focus on clan matters at all – else with the foundation laid, it wouldn't have been impossible to remain in the position of the clan head.

Right as Lingshe talked about things and loosened the heart knot, she also felt herself relax a lot. Before she regained those memories, she really had a bit of resentment towards her father, not enough to form a heart knot, but if she cultivated without clearing it, it would gradually transform into an inner demon, which is even worse.

She felt as if she was liberated and a supreme pure power flooded her mind.

In her sea of consciousness, the jade book she had only touched once flashed and opened the last page. She subconsciously chanted the spell and her father who had just regained his thoughts suddenly felt a strong current rushing through his body.

Before he could calm down another current came.

The second page opened – the Mortal Chant for Purity revealed itself in her sea of consciousness. Without even touching the jade book, she was able to effortlessly chant the first blessing, and now the second blessing also ringed through her mind.

"Stone untouched, stream runs free, cleanse all that clings to me."

This time, the current was mainly focused on her, while her father got a bit of power, and the remaining one rushed throughout the Yu clan from the Main Hall in the centre.

This power of purity cleansed the bodies of people, removed resentment and created a pure atmosphere where a strong sense of liberation existed.

'Is this my own purity?' she asked herself.

The book gave chants but not their power – the power it invoked would come from the comprehension of the chanter. She imagined that nourishing would nourish mainly the body, this was something that came from subconscious thoughts of traditional nourishing medicine.

On the other hand, purity was the purity of the mind – unaffected by harmful thoughts. Her purity started from the mind and extended towards the body, whereas the purifying effect on the body was to remove all ailments that affected the mind – freeing up all obstacles to create the best state of mind.
