Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: A True Betrayal

Before the Attack on Hyuga Gakuya's Sealing Chamber

Outside, three shadow clones observed as a group of Konoha shinobi, dressed in standard Leaf attire, managed to deceive the outer patrols and discreetly hide nearby.

"Should we make a move? Technically, aren't they taking our job?"

"Idiot, they're the real attackers. Isn't this disturbance way bigger than the one we created?"

"Fair point."

The three clones whispered among themselves.

Moments later, they leaped forward, unsealing scrolls and launching kunai embedded with explosive tags toward Konoha's sealing chamber.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions erupted continuously, but the sealing barrier remained intact, not even budging.

"Tch, as expected of Konoha's sealing strength, especially after inheriting the Uzumaki Clan's techniques."

"Yeah. Makes you wonder if Konoha had a hand in the fall of the Land of Whirlpools."

"Like you don't already know what I think?"

"Right, you are me after all."

Two of the clones exchanged remarks.

"Enough chatter. This is probably just a feint. Someone should be coming out soon. Stay hidden," the third clone interrupted.

Sure enough, not long after, two groups of shinobi rushed out. One consisted of Anbu pursuing the other—a rogue Anbu carrying a large collection of sealing scrolls.

The traitor sprinted in the direction of the three shadow clones, who carefully remained concealed.

They watched as the rogue Anbu darted across the branches right above their heads.

Exchanging glances, the clones made a decision—pursue!

With Konoha's patrols drawn away by the attack, the rogue's escape was unimpeded. Dressed in Anbu attire, he didn't even draw suspicion from those he passed.

Hyuga Gakuya's clones trailed him from a distance, their Byakugan ensuring they never lost sight of their target. Eventually, he slipped into a secluded forest in Konoha's eastern region.

Clearly familiar with Anbu patrol routes, he chose a location where no one would be watching. Relaxing his guard slightly, he waited for his contact to arrive.

At that moment, the three hidden clones struck simultaneously—Lightning Taijutsu: Sealing Thunder Palm, Lightning Taijutsu: Roaring Thunder Palm, and Wind Taijutsu: Wind Pressure Palm.

They appeared around him in an instant, their palms striking his chest, back, and head simultaneously. The rogue Anbu had no time to react—he was dead before he could utter a last word.

The clones collected the fallen sealing scrolls before using Wind Release to shred the body into unidentifiable pieces.

One clone took the scrolls and hid them in a secure location, while the other two erased any remaining traces of their actions.

Once things in Konoha settled, they would retrieve the stolen knowledge.

Back Home

Hyuga Gakuya lifted a water jug and downed an entire flask in one go, but even that couldn't suppress the excitement surging within him.

This was an incredible haul—not only did he obtain the Chimera technique and Hiruko's human experimentation data, but he also got his hands on numerous sealing artifacts. These were priceless treasures, fresh research material.

Even if he chose to sell them to the other four great shinobi villages, he could make a fortune.

The study of Chimera had to begin immediately.

His memories of the technique described its ability to assimilate Kekkei Genkai, but at the cost of turning the user into a grotesque abomination—an inhuman creature wrapped in bandages. That was a fate he had no intention of sharing.

Modifying and perfecting this jutsu was essential. After all, the version Hiruko left behind was incomplete—he had been forced to flee Konoha before finishing it.

This would be a long and costly endeavor.

A Secret Laboratory in the Land of Fire

After hearing Kabuto's report, Orochimaru's expression showed rare interest. "Someone actually dared to steal from me?"

This operation had exhausted all his remaining connections in Konoha. It was time to leave.

"Kabuto, pack up. We're leaving the Land of Fire."

"Understood. May I ask where we're headed, Orochimaru-sama?"

"The Land of Rain."

December 13, Year 53 of the Hidden Leaf Calendar

Konoha's investigation confirmed that the attack on the sealing chamber was orchestrated by Orochimaru's remnants.

Hyuga Gakuya was ordered to eliminate Orochimaru's spies in Konoha and dismantle their hidden research sites.

Using his authority, Gakuya secured a trove of Orochimaru's Kekkei Genkai research and Wood Release experimentation data, making significant breakthroughs in the study of Chimera.

December 27, Year 54 - The Night of the Treaty Signing

All major clans attended, though the Hyuga Clan Head was absent due to his daughter's birthday.

As the treaty was finalized and Konoha celebrated peace, Kakashi's team spotted a Kumogakure ninja sneaking toward the Hyuga compound.

The intruder scaled the walls and infiltrated the Clan Head's residence, carefully avoiding detection. He picked up the sleeping Hinata, but before she could cry out, he covered her mouth.

As he tried to escape—

Beams of light illuminated him.

Kakashi, Gakuya, Yamato, and Akumu surrounded him, flashlights trained on his face.

Kakashi rested his sword against the intruder's throat. "Put the child down. Come with us and confess."

Realizing he was caught, the ninja pressed a kunai to Hinata's throat. "One move, and she dies!"

Determined to complete his mission, he turned the blade on himself—

But Gakuya was faster.

With a single Sealing Thunder Palm, he paralyzed the intruder, catching Hinata as she tumbled from his grasp.

As Akumu restrained the captive, Yamato's wood clone signaled that everything had been recorded.

"Good. We have solid evidence. Let's go see the Third Hokage."
