After the long battle with Plasmus, my team and I managed to incapacitate him, and the authorities apprehended the now sleeping criminal. Great, the worst is over I thought, but little did I know that the worst was yet to come.
As my exhausted, goop-covered team and I walk towards the Tower (because a certain half man half robot didn't want us to get monster gunk in his car), Beast Boy had that mischievous glint in his eye, and slid on over to me with a grin. "Hey Rob~!" He said in a teasing tone "I couldn't help but notice how... distracted you were after that save from Star. Was that trauma in your eyes, or... hearts?" He said wiggling his eyebrows ar me. I blush. Something i don't usually do. Oh crap I thought as I avoided his teasing gaze, then, as if the universe wasn't done toying with me yet, Starfire floats over with that curious, innocent look in her emerald eyes. My heart picks up instantly. My light blush? Now beet red. My heart? Beating at a pace that shouldn't be humanly possible. And my thoughts? A whirlwind of just her. The way her eyes sparkle in the sunlight, how her hair blows in the wind like a comets tail, how she can make anything look so... perfect. "Friend Beast Boy, what may I ask is the topic of conversation that is causing Robin to... turn red?" She asked with that endearing head tilt of hers. My face burns brighter. Beast boy chuckles fiendishly "oh nothing much, just asking about what happened during the mission... our boy Rob just seemed a little distracted" I clear my throat aggressively, avoiding their gazes, my voice hoarse as i speak "i-its nothing important Star... i-im fine." I say more to convince myself rather than her, and I sped up my pace, wanting to get away from Beast Boys teasing, and my fast beating, unrelenting heart.
Little did I know that once we get back to the Tower?
It gets much worse.
A little while later, we finally arrived at the Tower. Cyborg went off to the tech lab to make some repairs in our gear, Raven immediately hid in her room to read her book of spells in peace, and Beast boy... instead of going off to do his own thing, he pulls Starfire aside to talk.
My stomach churns.
I hated the thought of Beast Boy alone with her, telling her things he probably shouldn't, bringing her into a little scheme of some sort knowing her innocent, pure-hearted mind wouldn't comprehend his intentions.
I pace in the living room, anxious about what Beast boy might be telling her, then right as i was about to go in and see what's going on, they come back, Beast boy wearing a devilish grin, and Starfire with an amused and almost excited glimmer in her eyes. "Alright Star, just like how I taught you!" I heard Beast boy whisper to her before backing off and out of the room, leaving us alone.
My heart immediately picked up pace.
Starfire starts floating closer to me with a grin, not that lighthearted joyous grin, no... this one was different.
"Friend Beast Boy had taught me a new technique, Robin..." She said ominously, almost teasingly. I swallowed hard, my voice cracking slightly as she floats closer "uh-uhm... and w-what technique is that?" I ask, scared of what the answer might be. "Beast Boy had called it... 'the teasing technique'..." She floats even closer, my heart picking up pace with each inch she closes between us. "The... The teasing technique?" I say with a flustered, nervous expression, not used to this new attitude Starfires showing. "Yes... hearts had said it was the best way to get information... and..." She floats even closer, and suddenly, we find ourselves only an inch away, and she leans in even closer with a smirk. "...I thought I might try it out on you."
My breath hitches
My brain? Short circuiting.
My face? As red as my suit.
I take another step back only to bump into a wall. I'm trapped. By Starfire. She just leans in even closer, barely an inch away from me, and I mutter with my voice quivering slightly "I-I have... nothing t-to hide..."
"Oh? Then explain to me..." She puts her hands to the wall on each side of me, caging me in as she leans in dangerously close, the smell of her strawberry scented hair overwhelming me once more as she murmurs teasingly "...why were you so distracted in the earlier battle, Robin?"
"I..." my voice trails off as I look at her, my face feeling as though on fire, my gaze flickering to her lips for a millisecond before going back to her teasing, amused, emerald green eyes.
"S-Star..."
I murmur, then suddenly-
