The squadron was hot behind his tail. Norman had to find a way to hide, and that meant avoiding the drones… there were however quite a lot of them. In broad daylight, well this wasn't ideal…
These rooftops weren't exactly endless…
But in the spur of the moment he'd decide, jumping, to find his way and into a building. Hopping to the floor below, from the ledge and into a window…
It was akin to cornering himself.
But he had a plan in mind, were things to go south.
Down on the ground floor, you could find hundreds of forces surrounding the building, from every alley to the air up above.
Scott rode behind his scholarly friend. Stopping at his heel. The main forces would prepare to raid the place. When the captain of the units would turn to a calm and collected man.
"Awaiting orders"
A casual stride proceeds the commander
"Do not engage"... strapped to his sides are what looks to be an old fashioned hilt, and rifle. "Look, had the man wanted to fight, we wouldn't exactly be in a chase right now." He was quite indifferent, continuing to the elevator.
His earpiece sounded
•"C-commander! the- I- M-madam iris cautions you in proceeding f-further She! says that without full gear there are no guarantees! Not with someone of 10Mi!"•
He'd respond "I'm just gonna check on the guy."
•"..."• it seemed quiet
With an aloof expression, the commander would turn to one of the drones and wave hello, nodding. Only to stand front and forward with the elevator, his head still turned toward the drone… pressing up. All before he'd point to his neck, and, using the same finger, he'd wag it as if to tell off a rebellious child.
On the other side of communications, The Iris, was pointing a sharp comb to the neck of the person who'd been on the line with The commander Carter.
"Awww, how sharp." She'd tuck the pin in her hair as though it were nothing special. "As expected of my most powerful piece…" Such a sinister smile she had.
She continues, holding out her palm as though expecting something from the terrified agent, who'd fallen from his seat…
Smiling, she'd gesture, tapping the side of her head, only to reach out once more…
Confused… the contact agent would put his palm in hers…? no way… The obsessive. Impulsive. Malicious. Perfectionist of an iris that'll have you on your knees for a single mistake, considered to be the compound's best and most sadistic military strategist, who not only mastered arithmetic and precise logical reasoning, but can conduct herself as she sees fit for any situation. Known by those directly under her authority for having a sense of supremacy.
Is this… is this… A twist of fate?
The walking definition of no man's land? Showing warmth to a mundane peasant of the corporate world?
Fantasies…well…are fantasies,
at least that's what the excruciating sound of bones breaking would make anybody realize. Irritated, the iris now held the agent's fingers in a crushing grip.
"Incompetent Roach! What exactly do you take me for?! Hand me the microphone!" Her voice betrayed the short and trimmed figure she portrayed, almost as though one were talking to a bear. Well… in backing this… she does have a terrifying ability.
•"Yahoo! Manny! It's me! I repeat, do not approach the subject! After all, you're not fully geared! Are you?!"• A jolly expression she held in addressing Carter.
Though, he simply ignored his earpiece, as he was already on the assumed floor, and right when he was just about to grab ahold of the door knob-
•"This surely calls for an intervention? Does it not?"• A serious tone precedes such a serpent-like girl.
Hesitantly he'd turn to one of the drones and cross his forearms, he then thought to himself.
'No thank you, last time that happened… It was kinda weird. Having someone remotely control my body, all the while voicing orders in my head.' Silently, he'd turn for the door.
•"I'm pretty sure there's nothing in your medical records that says your mute."• Her tone was quite casual. Whatever tension there was, seemed to vanish into thin air.
'It's weird… she could choose to either single out a part of the body she'd control, like my arm, or just knock me out cold… not my cup of tea, if you ask me.' Holding a firm grip on the door knob, his thoughts back on topic, presumed to be on the other side… someone as powerful as that iris.
"I'm pretty sure you're just as curious as me." She was.
•"Make no mistakes, you hear?"• Oh how terrifying.
He'd nod lightly to the echoed words.
Sighing.
He opens the door to find a patient man.
"So…um" Norman looked on, he'd sat on a high seat. "Yeah, uh, what do you want?"
Carter stood by the doorway "That should actually be my question… why did you-?" He signed a running man with two fingers.
"… hm, thing is," Norman said quite honestly "I don't really know how you found the maji thing out, but I just can't be taken into custody yet, ya see something happened kinda recently, so…"
"What're you talking about? Getting arrested?" The commander was quite concerned.
"Huh?"
"huh."
"ah." Then it struck the guy, why Norman ran.
"What made you think we'd do that?" They both looked puzzled "I mean… didn't the kid say we'd only take you in for questioning?"
"People say a lot of things"
"Yeah… and they usually mean something?"
"and it's usually not what they say, I think" Norman would put plainly
"Hm" and Carter would ponder "sad"
Norman adds "Real mysterious. though, when they actually start something is where it gets a bit more sure fire, right?."
He then clarified "but.. Yeah no, he did say that, it's just that, so many soldiers already had me thinking I'd been tagged enemy no. 1"
Carter would nod at that.
"My thing is, the people i know… kinda hate mystery" Carter subconsciously sat on the floor
"Isn't it natural for anybody to be scared of whatever's out there?" Norman rests his chin upon his own knuckles.
"Also…"
Carter would look up in anticipation…?
"Why are you down there?" He points over to the chair across his "I think you should sit… it's kinda, huh?"
The commander froze for a moment, before sheepishly standing and walking over.
When he sat and was when he said "Say. I'll just bring the interview here, so it oughta save a hassle for the both of us."
"Fine by me" Norman sat up straight, and crossed his arms, but was keen to pay attention.
"Hmph." The commander nods once more.
