Chapter 70 - Chapter 70

Because he could now freely open and close the Tenseigan, Hyuga Kagami no longer needed to wear the dark-colored goggles.

After all, wearing them significantly impaired his vision, especially at night. The tinted lenses would severely interfere with his sight, reducing his perception.

Stowing the goggles away in the ninja pouch at his waist, Hyuga Kagami stood up and made his way back to the small cave where Team 11 was hiding.

As soon as he arrived, Guy, who was stretching outside the cave, grinned and said, "Haha! You look so weird without those goggles!"

Hyuga Kagami looked Guy up and down and asked, "How's your body holding up?"

Guy gave a thumbs up and flashed a wide grin full of big teeth. "Don't worry! I'm Konoha's Blue Beast! These minor injuries are nothing to me!"

Guy's recovery ability was truly extraordinary. Most people would break down under his intense training regimen, but he bounced back like it was nothing. Despite the serious injuries he had sustained, just a few days of rest and he was back to his usual energetic self.

Inside the cave, Hyuga Kagami noticed Shisui and Kakashi chatting in low voices.

"What are you two talking about?" he asked casually.

Shisui glanced at Kakashi, and after getting a nod from him, he replied with a strange tone, "Kakashi-senpai awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan."

Hyuga Kagami turned to Kakashi. "Was it after the battle in the valley?"

Kakashi, still a bit weak, shook his head. "I'm not really sure."

Hyuga Kagami wasn't surprised by this. From what he remembered, it seemed inevitable. Though he couldn't recall exactly when Obito's Mangekyo Sharingan had awakened, he knew that as long as Obito had it, then due to the resonance between the two eyes, Kakashi only needed a little emotional trigger to awaken it as well.

And Kakashi had experienced plenty of emotional trauma—Rin's death, the death of the Fourth Hokage, and their brutal battle in the valley.

So, it was very likely Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan had already awakened before the valley fight, and that battle merely helped him discover how to activate it.

Seeing Kakashi still looking half-dead, Hyuga Kagami didn't probe further. He didn't want to appear too interested or knowledgeable about the Mangekyo Sharingan—it would only attract unnecessary attention and suspicion.

After all, those interested in the Mangekyo Sharingan included Danzo within the village and Orochimaru outside of it. And lurking in the shadows was Obito, who was obsessed with annihilating the Uchiha and destroying Konoha. None of them were people Hyuga Kagami wanted watching him too closely.

Shisui didn't press the topic either. He was still reeling from the revelation. He had never imagined that a non-Uchiha who had transplanted a Sharingan could awaken the ultimate Uchiha ability—the Mangekyo Sharingan. To him, it felt like a mockery of the proud Uchiha clan.

Many hailed as Uchiha "geniuses" had never awakened the Mangekyo. Even now, Shisui believed he was the only one in the clan to have done so.

And because of it, he had always feared that this power might one day bring misfortune to both the clan and the village.

He had guarded this proud Uchiha power so cautiously, only for a non-Uchiha to gain it seemingly by accident. The irony cut deep.

Luckily, his pride had already been shattered by Hyuga Kagami not long ago. In his mind, the Uchiha clan had already lost—lost to the Hyuga clan.

By every measure, the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan paled in comparison to the Tenseigan Chakra Mode, which could wipe out an entire valley with a wave of the hand. To Shisui, the Uchiha had been utterly defeated.

Losing once made it easier to accept losing again. At least Kakashi was the son of Konoha's feared White Fang.

Hyuga Kagami and Kakashi were unaware of the turmoil in Shisui's mind. Kakashi was still lost in his own thoughts, far from the cold persona he usually showed to the world. Much of that coldness was just a mask to hide his deeply wounded soul.

Hyuga Kagami, meanwhile, was pondering recent events.

The battle in the valley had been a life-or-death struggle, teaching him an important lesson: no matter how many trump cards you hold, you must always be cautious. One slip-up could cost you your life before you even get a chance to use them.

That was nearly the case—despite having the Three Kazekage Puppet and the ability to escape using Magnet Release, he was nearly captured alive by the Cloud ninja due to a single misstep.

This was the ninja world—a place where even the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki could be ambushed and killed in an instant.

Still, he had gained much from that battle.

Most notably, he had learned how to activate the Tenseigan Chakra Mode from the giant Tenseigan on the moon, as well as how to use the techniques "Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion" and "Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion" to manipulate Truth-Seeking Balls.

The moment he entered Tenseigan Chakra Mode, he had felt like a god. Every enemy seemed insignificant, easily crushed with a flick of his hand.

That feeling was exhilarating.

Unfortunately, the Otsutsuki clan on the moon had reacted too quickly, cutting off his access to the giant Tenseigan's free chakra before he could fully master the mode.

Now, after a few days of rest, his chakra was nearly 70 to 80 percent restored.

Judging by how much chakra the Tenseigan Chakra Mode had consumed during the valley battle, he had enough now to enter the mode again.

But he held back.

The Otsutsuki were still monitoring Earth through the giant Tenseigan. It was safer to wait until he was back in the Land of Fire, preferably in a secluded place, before practicing the Tenseigan Chakra Mode further.
