Chapter 45 - CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR

"MOMMY," called a little girl to her mother. The girl's mother turned around and smiled at her.

"Why? Child?" her mother gently asked, fixing the hair of the young girl she was talking to.

The little girl simply smiled at her mother, who just shook her head; they had only known a simple life, a complete family, and a happy environment.

However, a sudden disruption occurred when someone began pursuing the girl's family.

"Mommy," she called out to her frightened mother.

Her mother carried her silently as she fled, while her father moved quickly.

The child could clearly see the fear on her parents' faces; she didn't say anything then, even though she was confused. He remained silent and trusted her parents. They arrived at an abandoned warehouse, leaving her there to ensure her parents wouldn't notice her.

The little girl was hushed, but a man found her. There, she saw her parents being tortured; she was about to call out her parents' names, but an old man pulled her away.

"We will come back for your mommy." That's all she heard from a young man who was fixing her hair.

The young girl was taken to a small clinic, given a medicine to drink, lost consciousness, and woke up only to find herself sleeping on the grass.

She couldn't remember who she was; she only remembered her name, and she didn't know who she was looking for. The child started crying out of fear and sadness that she couldn't explain.

Sharlene suddenly woke up from her dream. She swallowed her saliva at that moment. That dream had been recurring for several days, but she ignored it. However, with each return of that dream, it pinched her heart.

She just sighed; she needed to calm down. She is here in the hospital now. She looked at the child sleeping soundly, approached Ashley, and gently stroked the child's forehead.

"Wake up, my child," Sharlene whispered in the child's ear. She gently caressed her child's cheek.

She watches her child; she misses every hug and every lively laugh when they are together, and she wishes for her normal life with her child to return, even though she no longer has a husband.

Suddenly, the laughter of the child she dreamed of, wearing that bracelet, crossed her mind.

Bracelet? Sharlene wondered about the bracelet at that time. Her brow furrowed because it seemed she had seen that bracelet before.

Where have I seen that bracelet? She started wondering in her mind.

She only remembered the child's name; she couldn't see their face or age in her dream.

Ellena? She thought to herself, and suddenly her head started to hurt; she just shook her head to make the pain go away.

I shouldn't be thinking about that; I have a problem to face. This gesture serves as a gentle reminder to her mind and self.

She calmed herself. Sharlene closed her eyes, and then, suddenly enveloped in darkness, she was surprised; she didn't expect to travel now.

Child, child. The call of a woman looking for her child is sorrowful.

Where are you now, child? These calls are coming one after another.

She just looked at it, and then something tugged at her feelings.

"So you're here, Sharlene." Someone was whispering in her ear.

Someone's call startled her, and she turned to look. Sharlene saw Leah, and she just stared at the woman in front of her.

"What are you doing here?" Leah asked Sharlene.

"I—I don't know either." That was her only answer.

Leah gazed at her, noticing the playful smile and even raising an eyebrow. She also saw who she was looking at.

"Oh, are you here to find out who you really are?" Leah asked her.

Sharlene furrowed her brow at what this person was saying. Leah laughed at her reaction.

"Before you learn about my whole life, first know who you really are, Sharlene." After what Leah said, it suddenly disappeared.

She was suddenly back at the hospital; a nurse greeted her.

"V--- Vivianne, you're already here." Sharlene only mentioned Vivianne's name.

Vivianne just nodded at her; she didn't speak, only stared at her now.

"You're going to San Mateo, right?" Vivianne asked her.

Sharlene just nodded. She just sighed before speaking.

"Find what is troubling your mind." Vivianne couldn't help but say it to her. "Perhaps it relates to your entire existence and the way you bonded with Leah and Grandma." She heard Vivianne say it to her.

She was just surprised by what the person in front of her was saying.

"W—What do you mean, Vivianne?" She asked Vivianne, and it puzzled her mind.

Vivianne just shrugged before she spoke.

"I know, I know you're searching for your identity right now; once you find it, you'll connect the events to what's happening now." Vivianne couldn't help but say it to her.

"This is probably my karma." She just laughed at Sharlene.

"Vivianne? D—Do you know something that I don't know? Sharlene asked Vivianne.

 Vivianne bit her lip.

"Hold my hand." She ended up saying it to her.

Sharlene didn't understand Vivianne now, but even though her mind was in a daze, she followed her.

 Suddenly, she saw some pictures.

"W … Where are we?" She only whispered to Vivianne.

They are in an abandoned place now, with people talking to each other. He saw a coffin. Sharlene gasped, her hand suddenly trembling at the sight.

They were in Leah's past; they couldn't see the people talking. She noticed a young girl hiding, peering at the people there, her hand trembling.

 "Vivianne?" She could only ask.

Vivianne just nodded at him. "I witnessed that when I was ten years old." Vivianne could only say to Sharlene,.

 Sharlene just sighed.

"Does Grandma know about this?" Sharlene asked.

"Yes, she knew. When she was helping Leah back then, she asked me to be a witness, but I was still young then; I was afraid to face it and tell the truth that she was buried alive here." Vivianne vividly remembers her.

"What happened after that?" "What happened after that?" Sharlene asked Vivianne.

After Leah's burial alive, Vivianne saw the faces of Manuel, Angely, and their men. Vivianne saw the soul crying, and then she was buried alive.

They returned to the hospital then.

"D--- do you remember? We need to tell Lawrence that." Sharlene said that back then.

Vivianne let out a sigh. "That abandoned place is owned by the Atienza family; I can't be mistaken. We will have a challenging time." Vivianne said to Sharlene.

"Is it Sheila's sister?" She asked and was shocked by what she heard now.

She nodded at Sharlene; she had just sat down now, thinking about what she would do next.

 Sharlene looked at her phone.

Only one person can help me. Sharlene could only say it in her mind. She needs to be thick-skinned now.
