Chapter 18 - I have to run away!

***The Wedding Day***

Three days passed quickly, and everyone in the palace began preparing for the wedding between the King and the Queen. The palace was quiet, yet the excitement in the air was loud. Although everyone was careful not to make any noises that might annoy the king, it didn't stop the happiness they felt inside.

The large kitchen was bustling as the chef and Omegas went about their tasks. The guards were on alert, ready for whatever might come that day.

The cold, cruel King was finally getting married, of course, it was a thing of joy…not because they truly believed he had found love, but because they hoped the Queen might be the one to change his icy heart and bring light back into the dark halls of the palace.

"My Queen, please relax, your body is too stiff."One of the stylists said gently as she adjusted the fabrics of Elena's gown. "You have to remember that everything will be fine." She added.

Out of the twenty young girls who were helping Elena get dressed for her big day, it was only the eldest stylist, Rebekah, who could speak. The other young girls were too scared to talk before the Queen. It was already an honor helping her get dressed, they did not want to push their luck.

"Yes, my Queen everything will be alright. Today would be so magical!" Irene squealed in excitement, as she cupped her chin with both hands, gushing like a kid. Irene was not helping Elena get dressed, but as the Queen's personal maid, it was only normal for her to be wherever the Queen went.

Elena heaved a deep sigh. She couldn't even explain how she felt at that moment. She felt so many things, so many emotions that were trying to crush her from within. She was scared, nervous, and unsure all at the same time. She definitely was not ready for any of this, but what choice does she have?

If someone had told Elena years ago that she would be getting married to the mightiest King in the entire werewolf land and even be addressed as 'Queen' she'd have slapped the person in the face for spewing such rubbish words.

It all felt like a dream. A good and a bad dream at the same time. It was a good dream because she had left that dungeon and had a change in status…even though she did not deserve it. And a bad dream because she was literally getting married to the Death God! A man who could wake up one day and decide that she would be of no use and then kill her.

Oh, moon goddess, help Elena!

"All done!" Rebekah announced, moving away to admire the masterpiece on Elena's body. The other stylist moved back, completely in awe. Not only was the gown beautiful, but Elena wore it perfectly. She brought out the beauty of the gown.

Irene's jaw dropped, her eyes widening with pure amazement as she clasped her hands to her chest. "You look like a goddess…. No, like a Queen who was born from the flames of power and draped in the blood of royalty," she breathed out, almost in tears. "King Killian won't be able to take his eyes off you." She added, clearly still stuck in her fantasy and believing something magical could happen between the King and Queen.

Elena's gaze shifted to the tall mirror before her, and for a moment, she didn't recognize the woman staring back. She looked gorgeous, like a real Queen. Her makeup was perfectly done, and the gown…it was perfect, made of rich, deep red velvet—a color that complemented her porcelain skin so well. The off-shoulder neckline led into a corset-style bodice that shaped Elena's waist, accentuating her figure with a bold yet elegant touch. Gold embroidery decorated the bodice and flowed down the skirt, giving it a magical, graceful look. Each stitch seemed to whisper power and submission, beauty and fate—every inch of the gown screaming, This is a bride of a God.

If Elena had been getting married to the love of her life, she would have shed tears at the sight of the gown, but all she felt at that moment…as she studied herself in the gown, was fear and anxiety.

Everything was happening too fast.

A bell rang loudly, indicating that the ceremony was to start and that the King was already waiting for her at one of the royal halls.

Elena swallowed a lump, goosebumps forming on her skin. She had not even said a word the whole time as she was still too nervous. She surely was not ready for any of it.

Though the initial plan was to parade the city and then have a small wedding in the back, King Killian decided to change the plans after discovering that Elena was too nervous to meet his people. He decided to have a small wedding in the Royal Hall, then whenever Elena felt ready, they would parade the city together.

Elena heaved a deep sigh as the doors of her room creaked open and the scent of rare roses wafted in. Elena straightened her shoulders. Her hands trembled slightly at her sides, sweaty and hot.

Soon, Elena walked out of the room, heading towards the hall. The huge double doors opened upon her arrival, and her jaw dropped at the sight before her. Wasn't this wedding impromptu? Why did the hall look like it had been carefully decorated for months?

The grand chandeliers hung from the high ceiling, casting a soft, golden glow over the long hall, while rows of white and gold chairs were perfectly arranged, and the floor was covered in delicate rose petals.

Of course, red and black was the theme of the day, but it was beautiful. Unique.

As Elena stepped further into the hall, her gaze shifted to the front, where Killian stood waiting, his presence commanding the room. He was dressed in elaborate ancient attire—dark, flowing robes adorned with fine gold embroidery that glinted under the chandeliers' soft glow. A cloak of deep red draped over his shoulders, and a crown of black and gold rested on top of his head, adding to his regal, almost otherworldly appearance. His eyes, cold yet intense, locked onto hers, and for a moment, the entire world seemed to fade away.

Then, she saw it. The darkness in his eyes. A silent promise of the chaos he was about to bring.

"No. This isn't happening. I have to run away!" Elena thought to herself, slowly moving back in fear.
