There was no need for her reminder anymore. Several nearby team members had already raised their guns and opened fire at that giant hand, but G-William had already entered his third form by now. Normal bullets no longer posed any threat to him.
"Roar!"
G-William let out a roar, as if to demonstrate his power to them, and the hand holding Victor's head suddenly applied force.
Pop!
A sound like a watermelon bursting. Death God HUNK's disciple, code-named Ninja—Victor—had his head crushed by William in his G3 form.
"Victor… damn it, you killed Victor!"
Victor's death made Wolf Mom lose her sanity. She pulled out her military machete and charged forward in rage.
———
On the train, Aiden withdrew his gaze. He had also seen G-William, and also seen the scene of Victor's head being crushed by G3 William.
He touched his own head, his body feeling a little cold, and muttered with empathy, "It's really mind-blowing!"
Leon, resting to the side, heard his muttering and asked curiously, "Aiden, what are you saying?"
"Nothing." Aiden didn't want to explain the reference, waved his hand, and turned to enter the train's control cabin.
Inside the control room, Ada had one hand on the train's power lever, eyes looking forward, but her gaze was a little unfocused, as if lost in thought. She didn't even notice Aiden entering. Who knows what she was thinking about?
"Ada, how long do we still need before we're out?" Aiden asked.
"Hm?" The sudden voice by her ear brought Ada back to her senses. She turned her head and glanced at Aiden, then quickly looked away and asked, "What did you say?"
"How long do we still need to get out?" Aiden looked at her and repeated the question with some confusion.
"At least ten minutes. The train isn't very fast." Ada looked down at the screen on the train's control panel, which showed a speed of 60 km/h.
"That's enough." Aiden nodded. The alarm ringing in his ears indicated there was one minute left, enough time to leave the underground lab.
One minute is short, it passed in the blink of an eye.
The cold female voice finally began the final countdown.
[Beep, ten seconds.]
[Beep, nine seconds.]
"…"
"…"
[Beep, three seconds.]
[Beep, two seconds.]
[Beep, one second.]
[BEEEEEP!!!!]
As the countdown reached zero, a sharp beeping rang throughout every corner of the underground lab, like the death god singing.
Boom!
After the beeping ended, a deafening explosion shook the underground of Raccoon City. Massive smoke, flames, and shockwaves swept through the tunnels, causing the speeding train to tremble violently.
Aiden tightly gripped the train's handrail and loudly called for everyone to stay safe and avoid getting hurt by the shockwave.
A few seconds later, the tremors gradually stopped.
At this point, everyone knew, the source of what had turned Raccoon City into a living hell, the Umbrella underground research lab, had vanished forever.
"Finally, it's over…" Leon, covered in dust, got up and looked at the tunnel lit up by flames, sighing emotionally.
"No, not yet. It's far from over." Jill shook her head. Under the gaze of the others around her, she gritted her teeth and said, "The underground lab may be gone, but the true culprit, the Umbrella Corporation, is still alive."
She pointed upward, "And also, there are still large numbers of zombies and B.O.W.s in Raccoon City. This is just the beginning."
"That's not our concern." Aiden leaned against the train door, speaking while pulling out a cigarette and holding it under his nose, deeply inhaling the scent. There were kids on board, so he could only smell it.
"Your country's government will handle it," he said with certainty.
"Rely on them? I don't believe that." Jill's face was full of contempt. If the government were actually reliable, this disaster wouldn't have happened in the first place.
"Trust me, Jill. They'll handle it, though it's already too late." Aiden put the cigarette back into the box, sighing a bit. It was hard to say whether he was lamenting not being able to smoke or mourning Raccoon City's tragic fate.
"Then what do you think they'll do to solve Raccoon City's problem?" Claire asked while holding Sherry. She had draped her red vest over Sherry's shoulders. The two looked like sisters.
"Simple. Just bomb Raccoon City flat." Aiden raised his right hand, clenched it into a fist, and then suddenly spread his fingers, making a 'boom' gesture.
"That would take so many bombs." Leon sighed again.
"No need for many. One is enough."
Ada walked out of the control room and said, she had heard everything.
Jill frowned and said coldly, "One? No way. Even the most powerful thermobaric bomb would still…"
At that point, her face suddenly darkened, clearly, she realized what Ada meant.
"You're not saying… they plan to use that, are you?" Jill looked completely disbelieving. "Using that in their own country?"
"What else? Nothing suits it better than a nuke. Nuclear bombs have massive damage radius and produce high temperatures that can kill all life." Ada chuckled lightly and glanced at Aiden, as if remembering something, then continued, "And they have a lot of experience using it. They won't mess it up."
Of course Aiden knew what she meant by "a lot of experience". He laughed too. But seeing Jill's face turn darker, he quickly hid his smile, stepped up, and patted her shoulder, lowering his voice, "Jill, I know you can't accept this ending. But you should know, this is the only way to wipe out the virus. You wouldn't want it spreading to other cities, would you?"
"Of course I know. And of course I don't want the virus to spread. It's just…" Jill lowered her eyes, sad. "It's just, this is Raccoon City. The place I've always lived and worked in. I love this place. I… can't accept it."
Since joining the force, she had always stayed in Raccoon City. Every inch of land, every street, carried her footprints.
She had friends here too. Most of whom were now dead or turned into monsters. But emotionally, she couldn't let go.
Jill's eyes reddened, but her strong personality kept the tears from falling.
Ada walked up to Aiden and whispered, in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Your turn. This is when she needs a man's chest to lean on."
Somehow, her voice trembled a little, like she had made a big decision.
Aiden didn't notice anything strange about Ada's voice. Scratching his head awkwardly, he hesitated, though not socially anxious, he was a bit reserved. Doing something like that in front of so many people was hard for him.
But seeing Jill so sad, he sighed and went up to hug her.
"Oh!" Leon elongated his voice, egging them on.
Claire whistled like a hooligan and even covered Sherry's eyes.
Jill did enjoy being in Aiden's embrace, but felt a bit embarrassed by the teasing. She gently pushed against his chest and slipped out of his arms.
"Thank you, Aiden," Jill said softly, though her eyes glanced toward Ada.
"You're welcome, Jill. My arms are always open for you." Aiden waved generously.
Watching the two, a flicker of envy passed through Ada's eyes. She shook her head and closed her eyes, thinking, 'No, a woman like me could never hope for that.'
But then she began to daydream unrealistically, 'But… if it were me, what would I do?'
'Call that person, return the payment…then go back with him to meet his parents, receive a ring that's just for me, buy a house by the sea, and live there forever…'
'Heh! How ridiculous. I can't believe I'd think something like that.' Ada laughed at herself. But then she thought, 'Still, that really would be a wonderful life…'
She opened her eyes again and quietly returned to the control room, wanting to be alone.
But she noticed Aiden had followed her in.
Seeing her confused look, Aiden shrugged and said, "Jill asked me to check on you. Said you seemed troubled."
"I'm not," Ada said, looking away.
"Really?" Aiden smiled and casually closed the door. He pulled out a cigarette, took a puff, and continued, "When I'm guilty, I act just like you. I can't look people in the eyes."
"I'm not guilty." Ada immediately turned back to look at him.
But after a few seconds, she looked away again, making Aiden secretly laugh.
"So what do you want? Just came to laugh at me?" she asked angrily.
Aiden shook his head. "Of course not."
Sensing something strange in her words, he looked confused. "Laugh at you for what?"
"…" Ada went silent, not knowing how to answer. She frowned at him. Seeing his clueless face, she helplessly waved her hand, "Forget it."
"You don't look like someone with nothing on their mind. Jill was right. You do have something troubling you," Aiden said, starting to think. 'Could it be that she's upset about not getting the G-virus?'
Just as he was about to ask, the train suddenly shook violently, and its speed sharply dropped.
