Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 : Sage blessing

Time drifted by since that moment when Melissa, in a fit of unabashed spontaneity, had accidentally confessed to the word that Leo was handsome. Even though the incident had occurred just an hour ago, it felt like the echo of her words still lingered in the classroom, bouncing around in the minds of their peers, causing small laugh and sideways glances every now and then. The humor of the situation only amplified by the fact that Leo himself, the unsuspecting recipient of this accidental compliment, sat quietly absorbing the lesson who wasn't even listening listened, with his usual emotionless and unfazed face by the attention.

"Okay, let's wrap that up," the professor announced, swiftly attempting to divert the class's focus.

"We'll now delve into the topic of the blessings of sages," she continued as she flipped through her notes.

Lily, ever the chatterbox, raised her hand with a sparkle of curiosity in her eyes. "Professor, what's the difference between a blessing and a sage blessing?" she asked, sparking a wave of interest among her classmates.

"Ah, a wonderful question! Let's explore that. Who can take a stab at explaining the difference?" the professor replied, inviting participation.

Before the room could settle, Ren eagerly lifted his hand, his enthusiasm shining through. "Me!" he declared.

"Alright, Ren. Go ahead and enlighten us," the professor encouraged.

Taking a brief breath, Ren began to share his knowledge. "Well, I read in a book that a sage blessing is like a divine gift from a god, while a regular blessing is, uh, more like a natural talent that everyone is born with. So, we all have these natural blessings, but sage blessings are rarer, akin to stumbling upon a legendary sword in the earth."

"A good attempt, but not quite there," the professor noted, shaking her head gently. "You're right about sage blessings being gifts from a god, but there's much more to it than that. Think of a sage blessing as being reborn through the grace of a god. If you are bestowed with a sage blessing, you inherit the very essence of that god's power..."

"And a regular blessing," she continued, "is your inherent talent, something that everyone possesses. The uniqueness of it can be revealed in your status, though. Does that clarify your question, Lily?"

"Yes, professor!" Lily responded, satisfied and pensive as she kept all those information in her small head.

*Kevin's Pov*

As Agnes elaborated on the distinctions between sage blessings and regular blessings, Kevin sat quietly, all the while engaging in a mental dialogue with the system floating in his mind. The concept intrigued him, sparking a burning curiosity.

"Hey, system," he asked, "are sage blessings really gifts from a god?"

*"No, host, that's not entirely correct."*

"Then where do they really come from?" he pressed, eager for clarity.

*"You humans perceive them as gods, but in reality, they are beings who surpass mortal capabilities. Think of them as semi-seers,"* the system explained.

"So, you mean gods like Zeus are actually semi-seers? And what's Olympus then?" Kevin mused to himself, piecing together the enigmatic puzzle.

*"No, Olympus is merely a fragment of the cosmos,"* the system clarified.

"Interesting! So, what sage blessing do you think I'll receive?" Kevin queried with anticipation.

*"I can't say for certain, but there's a strong possibility that you will acquire a sage blessing of light,"* the system replied confidently.

"That would be great! I still struggle with controlling darkness anyway," Kevin acknowledged, allowing his thoughts to blend back into the classroom chatter, merging seamlessly with the lesson at hand.

...

"Professor, when will we begin to receive our sage blessings?" someone from the back called out, breaking the momentary silence in the room.

"In midterms," the professor responded, before getting up and concluding with, "Class dismissed," before she gracefully exited the room.

As the students filed out, they all seemed to buzz with excitement, each lost in their own thoughts about sage blessings.

"I wish I could get Zeus's blessing!" Leto exclaimed enthusiastically.

"Do you genuinely believe you'll be able to awaken a sage blessing?" Lily teased, a smirk crossing her face.

"Of course! I have S+ potential, so I'm definitely in with a chance," Leto replied, a mix of confidence and stubbornness in his voice.

"Come on, man! Do you seriously think it's that straightforward to get a sage blessing?" Miguel chimed in, rolling his eyes at his fellow classmate overzealous confidence.

"Oh, come on, guys! Can't you just wish me some good luck?" Leto pleaded, looking at them with mock betrayal.

"Haha, well, let's see! Leo here will be the first to find out if he has a blessing. If he doesn't, then we're all in the same boat," Ren remarked, playfully suggesting Leo's unique situation given his three affinities.

"Fair point," Miguel agreed, nodding in acknowledgment. But Leto wasn't done.

"But Professor Agnes mentioned that a sage blessing isn't purely determined by your potential or affinities, but rather what you were born with. So, I still think I stand a chance!" he declared optimistically, oblivious to the teasing smirks around the room.

"That dude is a lost cause, haha!" Dante laughed heartily, shaking his head at Leto's unwavering faith.

"Honestly, this is the first time I'm agreeing with you," Ren said as he playfully fist-bumped Dante, both of them sharing a chuckle at their friend's antics, lost in the camaraderie of their shared dreams and aspirations.
