Cherreads

Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 : Anomaly

After wrapping up his afternoon class, Kevin strolled back to his room, a mix of curiosity and excitement with a little bit of irration from earlier coursing through him. He approached his ever-reliable system with a pressing question that had been on his mind since he first laid eyes on her.

"So, you didn't catch a glimpse of anything about her at all?" Kevin asked.

The system responded with its usual clinical detachment. *"No, host. However, I did find something intriguing. She appears to be akin to the Child of Void and you. It seems she is not bound by the constructs of this world; instead, she's a fragment of a seer, though I cannot pinpoint which one."*

Kevin raised an eyebrow, feeling a spark of intuition. "Isn't it obvious? Just look at her! Her eyes and hair are literally the very essence of eternal darkness. It's like stepping into a void when you gaze at her."

The system interjected, maintaining its analytical tone. *"Host, do you recall what I previously stated? The Void exists symbiotically within the Child of Void."*

"Ah, right," Kevin muttered, piecing together the information.

"System, does that mean she is similar to Sun Wukong, existing outside of all known boundaries?" he inquired, hoping to unravel the mystery.

*"No, Sun Wukong had the extraordinary ability to shatter destiny itself,"* the system explained patiently. *"This girl, however, is merely fateless. She exists without a predetermined path."*

Kevin's intrigue deepened. "How does that work? So, whatever she does, she can operate without any external interference? Isn't that incredibly overpowered?" he questioned.

The system confirmed, *"Yes, but this doesn't clarify her connection to the Child of Void."*

With a playful smirk, Kevin decided to lighten the mood. "System, do you believe in love at first sight?" he teased, fully expecting the standard robotic reply.

*"No why would I ever believe that?"*the system replied with its usual straightforwardness.

"Neither do I! But just take a look at them. They seem so close, as if they've been inseparable for years, even though they only met yesterday," he ended with a hearty laugh, reveling in the absurdity of it all.

Meanwhile, across campus, in Leo's dorm room, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. He turned to Lia, flashing a charming smile that almost radiated warmth. "What do you want to eat?" he asked, striking a pose that made him look almost like a domestic blissful housewife, all while looking effortlessly handsome.

"Anything you make," she replied, sincerity laced in her words, although her heart raced at the thought, even if Leo's cooking turned out to be something of questionable taste.

"Alright then," he said optimistically, moving toward the kitchen to whip up something delicious.

Once they had devoured their meal, they settled onto the couch, both engrossed in their phones. The intimate silence hung pleasantly in the air until Lia suddenly broke it.

"Umm, Leo?" she started hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Yeah?" He looked up, intrigued.

"I've been watching a lot of dramas lately…" she trailed off, her cheeks turning the color of a sunset.

"Just say it! I'll do anything you desire," Leo assured her with a warm smile, his face glowing in a way that could outshine the stars.

"It's just kind of embarrassing…" she confessed, her shyness evident.

"You're too cute," Leo chuckled, wrapping his arms around her in a gentle embrace.

But just as he was about to pull her closer, Lia surprised him by leaning in and pressing her lips against his.

"Eh?" Leo stammered, momentarily taken aback.

"Hehe, your lips taste like honey," she exclaimed playfully, licking her lips post-kiss, as if savoring the moment.

"Hey, we just met yesterday! And now you're already kissing me?" Leo said, still baffled but now laughing at how quickly events had unfolded.

"But the drama said it was nice, and I wanted to try it," she reasoned, as if seeking validation for her spontaneous action.

"Okay, okay," he relented with a grin, leaning in to kiss her again. This time, the moment felt different—not a scorching passion, but a sweet, wholesome connection that made their hearts flutter.

"Eh?" Lia responded, eyes widening in surprise at the gentle kiss.

"So, was it delicious?" Leo teased, delight evident in his voice.

"Yes!" she replied, fidgeting in delightful embarrassment.

"Hahaha, alright, let's get some rest," he said, scooping her up in his arms in a princess carry.

"Ah, this is so embarrassing," Lia squealed, burying her face into his chest, overwhelmed by the cutsie antics of the moment.

Laughing softly, Leo laid her down on the bed and brushed a gentle kiss against her forehead. "Good night," he murmured as he settled in beside her, facing her back and wrapping his arms around her protectively.

"You too," she replied happily, adding, "Let's sleep like this, with you hugging me."

With smiles on their faces, they closed their eyes, sinking into a peaceful slumber together.

A week drifted by, and the whirlwind of events began to settle. Leo's classmates grew accustomed to his blossoming relationship with Lia. Surprisingly, instead of feeling bitter or jealous, many openly accepted it, particularly because polygamy was acceptable in their world. Given Leo's extraordinary talents and god-like beauty, no one doubted that he would attract numerous admirers, prompting many to continue pursuing him.

Over this week, Leo and Lia's bond flourished beautifully. Their connection deepened to the point where they felt completely comfortable doing nearly everything together—even bathing—as they began sharing more of their lives and emotions with each other. Meanwhile, Kevin remained focused on his training; with midterms approaching, his resolve to surpass Leo was stronger than ever.

Others in their circle were also hard at work, eager to try and outshine Leo. Melissa and Lily had gone unusually quiet since the arrival of Lia into Leo's life, seemingly processing their thoughts and feelings in light of this new development.

Now, tension hung in the air as the anticipated day of the Sage Blessing awakening approached—a week away, a pivotal moment for many students.

In a hidden dimension, an ethereal figure lounged back in a caverns' serene solitude, golden hair cascading like a waterfall and shimmering with an otherworldly glow. "Just one more week until we reunite," he murmured wistfully, leaning against the cool wall of the cave and casually munching on a banana, reflecting on how quickly his power was returning since his awakening.

Murmuring to himself, he summoned his status screen, eager to observe how far he had come.

With a light chuckle, he remarked, "Hehehe, my stats have finally reached a level where I can stand shoulder to shoulder with the seers. Thanks to my overpowered abilities, I can now confidently call myself a full seer. If it weren't for this pesky class holding me back, I might have actually evolved into a truly unique seer—one that thrives not in the world around me, but simply within my own imagination."

As he glanced down at the intricate details of the Bind of Destiny, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret. This class was powerful in its own right, but it also carried limits that prevented him from exploring the full extent of his potential. The thought of what could have been lingered in his mind like a distant dream.

Eventually, feeling the weight of fatigue begin to settle in, he stretched and let out a soft yawn. "Time to sleep," he murmured to himself, flicking off the lights as he prepared to drift off once again. He knew he would be waiting for someone to come in a week so he set an alarm with his powers.
