Chapter 10 - 10. Trying to Soften Skye's Heart

"Are you okay, miss?" asked Jett worriedly as he saw Skye's face in pain.

"Skye, just call me Skye. No need for 'Miss.' " Skye said with a smile.

"Okay," Jett replied.

"Thank you for helping me," Skye said.

"It doesn't matter, he has been acting out of line. Even though he's your father," said Jett, and Skye just smiled in response to Jett's words.

"I have to go back to my work. If you'll excuse me," said Skye.

"Yes, go ahead," said Jett, and Skye left there.

Jett stared at Skye's departure as he adjusted his glasses. "What does Mr. Sean need her for if she's already with Mr. Oliver?" asked Jett, wondering what his boss was doing. He knew how his boss behaved with a woman. But today, it was the first time he saw his boss kissing a woman in public.

Skye had returned to the venue, although there was a bit of chaos, the event still continued. Only a few people had gone home. Skye was summoned by the head event supervisor. She followed the head of the event management because there was someone who wanted to meet Skye.

Skye just silently followed the head event supervisor. They entered the elevator. "Will I meet that bastard again?" Skye wondered curiously, but she could only ask her heart.

"But isn't that the floor that that jerk took me to?" She said it again, but only in her heart.

The elevator doors opened, and she felt like asking, but she didn't dare. She was afraid her question would make the head event supervisor angry. Even though she had the right to know who they were going to see. Now that they were at a large door, Skye wondered if the door in front of her was the biggest room the hotel had. Imagining that it was the biggest room, she couldn't calculate how much money it would cost just to stay in that room for a night.

The head supervisor opened the door after the person inside told them to come in, inside the room, there were already two people waiting. From what Skye recognized, it was Sean's parents. "What do they want? Are they going to ask me to leave their son's side? If it's true, I don't actually have any relationship with their son," Skye said to herself.

"Excuse me, sir, ma'am," said the head event supervisor to Sean's parents.

"You may leave," Sean's father said to the head event supervisor. Skye frowned at the attitude of Sean's father just now.

The head event supervisor walked away, leaving Skye alone. Sean's mother was silent, but her eyes watched Skye from head to toe. "Nothing interesting," Sean's mother said, snapping Skye out of her weird sense of Sean's father's behavior.

"What have you done to my son? A woman like you is truly not suitable for my son," Sean's mother asked in a mocking tone.

"Sorry, Ma'am. You seem to have misunderstood. I am not your son's girlfriend. Your son just casually introduced me as…" Skye's speech was interrupted as the door to the room was suddenly rudely opened.

All eyes were now fixed on the person who had just made a rude entrance. "Tsk!" cried Skye involuntarily as she rolled her eyes lazily.

Both of Sean's parents were quite surprised to hear Skye's outburst just now. Sean immediately stood in front of Skye. "Leave my woman alone!" said Sean firmly.

"We just want to get to know your girlfriend. Is it wrong for us to want to get to know her?" asked Sean's mom.

"Wrong, because you will scare her!" said Sean. Skye, who heard Sean's words just now, was so disgusted that she just rolled her eyes lazily.

"You will definitely ask her to leave me! So, I'm warning you, don't bother her!" said Sean, and then he turned his body around.

He grabbed Skye's wrist and pulled her away from there. Skye did not say goodbye to Sean's parents, she just followed Sean's steps, which made her have to run a little because Sean's steps were too fast. Sean's one big step was almost equal to Skye's two footsteps.

Sean continued to pull Skye's wrist until they were now on the fire escape. "Don't ever see my parents! And if it happens again, don't ever say anything to them!" said Sean with a warning look.

"Tell them the truth, don't threaten me!" Annoyed, Skye then stomped hard on Sean's foot. She walked away while Sean was in pain from the foot she had just stomped on.

Skye exited the fire escape, walking as she cursed Sean. She herself did not want this to happen, but all this happened also because Sean casually said that she was his woman.

The day passed, and Skye was walking in her campus neighborhood to get to her class building. Several women were now confronting her. "Isn't this the woman who was in the news?" the woman asked with a scornful smile.

Skye, who heard that, chose to move out of the way of the women. She resumed walking, and the sound of people talking about her was enough to make her ears noisy. Many said some people were looking for her, who turned out to be loan sharks. They were finally afraid to approach Skye because they didn't want the loan shark to bother them later. Until a word made Skye stop walking. "No wonder Max cheated on Emma, he must not want to deal with loan sharks."

Skye resumed walking, ignoring all the words of the people talking about her. But her brain kept thinking maybe what that person said was true. Her boyfriend didn't want anything to do with her because he was afraid of dealing with loan sharks. However, why did Max leave with Emma, leaving behind a debt that Skye had to take responsibility for? Skye sighed heavily, it was nothing to think about, she just needed to focus on her studies and work. After graduating from college, she was confident that she could get a good job to pay off all her debts to the loan shark and bank.

After college, Skye went straight to the convenience store. She frowned when she saw the silhouette of a man she never wanted to see again. Skye simply walked past the man. The man grabbed Skye's shoulder to make her stop walking.

"Can we talk?" asked the man who was none other than Sean.

"I can't, I have to work," Skye snapped at Sean's question.

"Just a minute," said Sean, making Skye stare at Sean's surprise at Sean's current attitude, which was softer than last night.

"I'm sorry about last night. I was just angry that my parents set me up without talking to me at all," Sean said with a look of regret on his face.

"It's not like you can put others down if you're angry at your parents," Skye snapped.

"If you came here to talk about the job you offered, please find someone else. I'm not interested in working with you at all. Excuse me," Skye said and left Sean.

Sean clenched his fists, he had behaved well according to the advice of his secretary, but why was he still rejected? He clenched his fists and left. That's enough, he doesn't want to drop his pride again.

The day changed, but apparently Sean did not give up. Even though yesterday he said that he no longer wanted to deal with Skye. This time he went to see Skye, who was working at one of the restaurants, to lift goods. Sean stood leaning against his car. Paying attention to Skye, who was working. He could see Skye receiving wages and food.

Sean suddenly remembered the time when his car hit Skye. Skye threw away the food and also the milk box that had been spilled, meaning that the food was the wages from her work. Skye smiled and looked down slightly as she received her wages. "Can she only smile? Why does she smile so much?" he asked, looking at Skye in surprise.
