I had finally gathered enough lapis lazuli. Without wasting any time, I began upgrading my magical book—something I had been planning for a while.
Using an anvil, I enhanced my magical book. I also decided to write down the upgrades on the first page from now on.
[Magic Book v1.1]
[- No longer requires an external lapis lazuli source. Only experience levels are needed for enchanting.]
I wrote the changes in a short and clear manner. Then, I used the teleportation crystal at the center of my hideout to instantly teleport to the surface.
My goal was to face the wolf pack I had been avoiding for a long time. I brought Cotton along with me, of course—but he was invisible to other creatures. I absolutely didn't want him to get hurt.
I was completely unaware of what was about to happen the moment I stepped outside. Just as I set foot on the surface…
A voice came from behind me.
"Akamaza kma kakaia kaosj."
When I turned around, I saw a small child—but something about them felt familiar.
I thought aloud for a second.
"They look exactly like Frisk from Undertale."
Short, straight brown hair. Fair skin. A long-sleeve blue sweater with pink stripes—classic.
The child stood frozen while looking at me. A moment later, they spoke—this time in my language.
"Are you an outsider too?"
Hearing those words brought tears to my eyes, and I smiled. I silently nodded in confirmation. Tears welled in both our eyes.
It was like two long-lost friends finally reunited. We hugged each other tightly. He looked way younger than me, but that didn't matter.
After a while, I decided to invite him to my home.
"How about being my guest for a while? My hideout is right here. I built it using the special powers I gained—Minecraft and Terraria powers. We can share what we know."
Frisk: "Special powers? Minecraft and Terraria? Sounds like it's crafting-related—pretty unusual. I thought you had a system like mine, but I guess it makes sense. You're an outsider too. It'd be weird if we had the exact same abilities. But still, make sure not to tell anyone about your powers.
This world is actually the Undertale world, and as far as I know, humans here don't have special powers—aside from mana usage."
"Got it. Thanks for the advice. By the way, how old are you, and when did you come here? I'm 20, and I arrived about a month ago."
Frisk: "I was 19 when I died. I took over this body two weeks ago. Some idiot was picking flowers on top of a mountain and the place was way too easy to fall from. Seems like that's where the original story starts. I can take you there—but I wouldn't recommend going underground. It's risky."
Together, we entered my secret hideout. Once inside, I asked an important question.
"By the way, what's your name? Mine's Enes."
Ahmet: "My name is Ahmet—and just so you know, if you call me Frisk, we're gonna have a problem. By the way, did you build all this with your powers?"
"Yeah. My power lets me do anything that's possible in the games—even crazier stuff. Believe it or not, there's a crimson biome nearby. That minecart over there goes straight to it."
Ahmet: "That's insanely powerful. You're way luckier than I am. Most of my abilities are unusable right now… but you…"
I cut him off. Something was on my mind.
"Wait a second—are you talking about save and load powers?"
Ahmet: "Exactly. My abilities are identical to those in the game. But there aren't any monsters on the surface, so I can't level up. I came here hoping wild animals might count. And worse—there's no save point on the surface, so I can't save."
"Just out of curiosity, can you hit me once? I want to see how much damage you'll do. My armor should be strong enough."
Ahmet: "Heads-up—it's a soul attack. Armor might not help. Usually, people faint instead of dying. To kill, you'd have to strike again while they're unconscious."
He took a stance and pointed at me. Suddenly, everything went dark, and glowing hearts appeared in both our chests. His was red. Mine was green… but…
Ahmet: "Why is half of your soul transparent?"
"I swear, I don't know. I just hope it's not something bad."
The thought that something was wrong with my soul scared me. Then, I noticed the transparent half of my soul was darkening.
Ahmet: "Based on what we were taught in school, soul strength is directly tied to emotions. The stronger the emotion, the more solid the soul. What did you feel just now?"
"Fear. I was scared something's wrong with my soul."
Ahmet: "Fantastic. You're even more like Chara than I am."
"Do you know what this soul type does? Or is it rare?"
Ahmet: "Rare—but not unheard of. It's a form of hypnosis. The more afraid your enemy is of you, the more effective it is. It's considered one of the weakest soul affinities because it doesn't work well on intelligent beings. It's known as the worst affinity after Determination.
Also, the heart isn't actually the soul. It's the link between the soul and body—so don't stress too much. One damage point shouldn't send you to the afterlife. Like I said, the first hit can't kill."
That made me feel a bit better.
Just as I was about to ask why Determination was a bad affinity, he answered without me needing to.
Apparently, Determination-based mana sticks to the body like glue, making spellcasting extremely difficult.
Ahmet: "Here I come. Get ready!"
He rushed at me and punched me in the chest. The punch itself was so weak I barely felt it—but the real threat was the energy that entered my body along with it.
I calmly waited for the results. The energy moved at a snail's pace toward my heart. I watched it approach with patience.
I expected minimal damage. But the moment it touched my heart… my soul split in two.
My lifeless body dropped to the ground, and my soul floated out.
Ahmet looked at my ghost form, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.
Ahmet: "I'm really sorry. I didn't expect that to happen."
I simply nodded and respawned in bed. After telling him I was fine, I started thinking of ways to protect myself.
"How much damage did you deal?"
Ahmet: "Just 1 point. Looks like your soul isn't very tightly bound to your body."
"Any idea how to fix it?"
Ahmet: "Not really. Maybe try a Totem of Undying?"
That might be more than helpful—I was almost certain it would work. The only problem was obtaining one.
There wasn't a woodland mansion nearby, so I was left with one option.
"Could you find me a Pillager outpost? I want to build a totem farm."
Ahmet: "Sure—but what's my reward?"
Well, I should've expected that. Nobody does favors for free.
"I'll give you a full set of platinum armor."
After a brief negotiation, we settled on a full platinum set, a platinum sword, and five golden apples in exchange. Then, he left the hideout to find an outpost.
Because I was sharing part of my power with him, he'd be able to see the Pillagers—but it was one-way. He couldn't interact with them, and they couldn't see him either.
