Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

The weight of expectations, our eyes met. A connection strengthened. In that moment, our titles- CEO and employee faded.

We were two people, sharing our struggles. Julian's eyes held a deep sincerity. I'm glad you're here, Isabella. He said softly. His words wrapped around me like a warm embrace.

Thank you, Julian, I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. The tension between us was palpable. Julian stepped closer. May I ask you something? I nodded. What made you leave your previous job?

Ethan…my ex….he was my boss, I began. Julian expression turned serious. He hurt you? I nodded. Emotionally, he did. Julian jaw clenched. I'm sorry, he said. His anger wasn't directed at me. It was for me.

Julian's vulnerability had created a palpable shift. Our gazes held, the air thick with unspoken understanding. Without thinking, I took a step closer. Julian eyes landed on my lips, then back to my eyes.

His chest rose and fell, slowing. I sensed his restraint. But I couldn't help myself.

Another step, the distance between us dissolved. Julian hand lifted, hesitating. Then, gently, he bushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

Our faces inches apart. Isabella, he whispered. My heart skipped a beat. Yes? I breathed. His eyes searched mine, for permission? For reassurance? I nodded

Softly, our lips met. Time froze.

Julian kiss ignited a flame. Tender, yet passionate. Our lips parted, and I smiled. We stood there, lost in each other. Isabella, Julian whispered. His voice sent shivers. I have wanted to do that for a long time. Me too, I confessed.

His arms enveloped me. A sense of belonging. We stood there, wrapped in each other. No words needed. Our hearts spoke. As the moment deepened I realized this was more than attraction, more than attraction. This was connection. Soul-deep.

We stood entwined, the city outside fading. Julian grip tightened. Isabella, I have been alone for a long time, he whispered. His words exposed deep pain. I have built walls to protect myself. I nodded, understanding.

From the world? Or from yourself? His eyes searched mine. Both, he whispered.

His vulnerability touched my heart. Why? I asked gently. Family expectations, business pressures… I have lost myself.

His voice cracked. I'm scared to let go. I held him closer you don't have to be scared with me. He buried his face in my neck. For a moment, the CEO was gone.

Replaced by a man exposing his soul. I feel seen with you, Isabella, he whispered. Seen and understood.

Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes. Julian, you're safe with me.

In that moment, our connection transcended titles. We were two souls. Finding solace. Healing together.
