Chapter 9 - The Cursed NIGHT

Lankaten began attacking the monsters like a madman, swinging his sword made of black water.

He was killing them quickly and terrifyingly at the same time. He even grabbed one of the monsters by the neck and ripped its spine out of its body.

"Haha, Lankaten really is insane. I should enjoy myself too; I won't let him have all the fun,"

laughed Clentin lightly as he placed his card into the four slots. He pulled out an axe with flames moving in reverse.

Clentin also charged at the monsters, cutting them like a lunatic and unleashing a barrage of bullets at them.

Lankaten stood with his arms wide open and shouted toward Clentin:

"Hey Clentin, leave some fun for us or step aside!"

Clentin, while slicing through monsters like a maniac, responded:

"And who are you to give me orders? Mind your own business, Lankaten."

When it comes to hunting, Lankaten loses his mind and sheds blood in a horrific manner.

He killed the last monster by shooting a bullet into its head, making it burst open like a flower.

Lankaten blew on the barrel of his gun, then returned both of his weapons to his Phantium card.

He spoke arrogantly while looking at the bodies that filled the road:

"What a beautiful massacre. And the sun is about to set."

Clentin looked toward the red sunset hiding behind the giant Victorian mansions and said:

"Damn, the sunset always makes me afraid of the moon appearing, even if it's white in color."

"Hey, let's head into the ruined castle… I don't want to miss the massacre that will happen at the Clown's Cemetery,"

Lankaten spoke with extreme excitement as he directed his words to Clentin.

Lankaten grabbed the gate and destroyed it with a single strike.

They entered a vast land, but it was soulless—there was no atmosphere of peace at all.

The trees grew in reverse, and there were people hanging from their heads in the air without any rope.

There were creatures, or monsters, or maybe humans—they were unidentifiable.

They had a statue of a man laughing with crimson tears flowing from his eyes.

A strange creature approached them… crying in terror.

He tried to speak, but the blood inside the statue prevented him from doing so.

"What's with this strange creature?"

Clentin placed two fingers on his chin, wondering about the identity of this thing.

The creature collapsed to the ground, moving in a strange way, trying with both hands to remove the statue from his head.

But the more he tried, the more blood poured from the statue.

Lankaten bent down to get a better look at the creature.

He spoke in a voice filled with immense fear:

"This is the work of the Blood-Tainted Huntress… the one who worships the Great Head, 'Akraush'…"

"The Blood-Tainted Huntress? Are her actions still affecting things even now?

What a lunatic, worshipping a being no one even knows exists,"

Clentin said, looking around with great anger.

Clentin looked behind him and saw the sun had disappeared.

The sky turned black, filled with galaxies ready to crash down to Earth.

The white moon appeared, bearing a deep crack across its surface.

Clentin spoke with intense fear in his voice:

"How I hate the night, even though sunset is the only daytime in this crazy world."

Lankaten drew his sword and decapitated the creature.

He held the statue that had the creature's head,

but the terrifying thing was that there was no head—only blood pouring endlessly from the statue.

"What the hell is this madness?"

Clentin looked at the scene, disgusted by such a horrific sight.

"It seems to be forbidden magic… That filthy woman, using such terrifying sorcery."

Lankaten threw the statue to the ground, speaking in a chilling tone.

"Let's head to the ruined castle. There are monsters waiting to be destroyed,"

Lankaten said as he walked toward the ruined castle, speaking to Clentin.

They both walked toward the castle, which was destroyed from many sides,

yet still stood strong despite the deep damage.

Some shadows moved quickly near the castle or even behind its windows…

They arrived at the castle gate, which was bleeding tainted blood.

Lankaten reached to open the door, but it opened on its own.

Both of them were surprised. They tried to look inside,

but everything was black and completely unclear.

Clentin spoke calmly as he admired the mysterious castle:

"It's as if it wants us to enter, so we can see what's inside."

They both entered the castle, and the gate slammed shut with tremendous force.

Black lights illuminated the place… revealing a large hall filled with beds.

On those beds were creatures wearing white cloaks and the same statue on their heads.

Three meters or more to the right and left were two bridges.

Creatures were banging their heads on the walls. Others ran in bizarre ways, screaming in terror…

And with every scream, blood poured from their mouths.

"If this is the normal view, then how would it look through Insight?"

Lankaten spoke as he stared sharply at the scene that seemed to come from beyond the universe itself.

The creatures rose from their beds and began approaching both Clentin and Lankaten.

The situation was suspicious.

One of the monsters inserted his hand into the statue and pulled out a sword with tainted blood.

Their bodies trembled horrifically as they pulled weapons out of the statues on their heads.

Both Clentin and Lankaten drew their weapons.

Lankaten spoke, warning Clentin:

"You must be careful not to get even a single scratch from their swords.

We don't know what kind of substance they're coated with."

Clentin placed a hand on Lankaten's shoulder and spoke with a smile on his face:

"We have some remedies, and hunters are resistant to poisons anyway."

"That's true… but still, we need to stay focused, Clentin."

He gave him a single look, then turned his head toward the strange creatures.

Lankaten charged in with terrifying rage, slashing with his black water sword.

These creatures were oddly intelligent, able to block enemy swords, dodge, or land surprise hits.

'These are truly strange species… we must be cautious,'

Lankaten thought to himself while fighting.

Clentin jumped to the bridge on the right side, swung his axe rapidly, killing many.

Then quickly moved to the other side, destroying them too.

"They weren't that difficul—"

Clentin couldn't finish his sentence.

One of the strange creatures struck his back with such force that it created a gap,

causing Clentin to fall to the ground.

"CLENTIIIIIN——"

Lankaten called out to Clentin, but a strange creature appeared behind him.

Lankaten barely blocked the strike, but the creature hit him in the head with a strange fleshy rope.

The two monsters stood at the gate leading to another section.

Their bodies were deformed, bleeding heavily like rainfall.

Their legs were arched, standing on tiptoes.

They had no heads, only fleshy ropes extending from their necks.

Clentin got up and looked at the two creatures, disgusted by their bizarre, inhuman appearance.

"These things were seriously made in a toilet… there's no other explanation,"

Clentin spoke mockingly about the monsters.

Lankaten lit a cigarette, rested his black water sword on his shoulder,

and spoke in a calm, menacing voice:

"Enough nonsense, Clentin. We have to hunt them down.

The hunt doesn't begin until the prey is dead."

Meanwhile, at the shattered statue… one hour earlier.

Elianora and Emilia arrived at the intended location.

Emilia spoke with slight sarcasm, placing her hands behind her head:

"The road was a bit difficult, thanks to those filthy monsters."

"True, but at least we reached our destination,"

Elianora replied while looking at the broken statue.

They were surrounded by large, thick trees.

There was a path ahead leading to a fairly large village,

with strange Victorian buildings and wooden houses.

Windmills carried corpses and hanging heads.

"Seems like we're in a weird and insane place,"

Elianora said as she looked at the village from afar.

"I have a strange question… why did the First Hunter choose German and Ophelia?"

Emilia placed two fingers on her chin, wondering.

"You're asking that now? Probably because of their connection—both of them use three cards,"

Elianora was surprised by the question but answered anyway.

"That's what I thought too," Emilia smiled at Elianora and spoke in a calm tone.

Hehehe… Hehehe… Hehehe…

At that moment, both Elianora and Emilia noticed the sound coming from the village.

It was the terrifying, disturbing laughter of women.

"What is that sound?" Emilia asked, shocked.

"I don't know, but it sounds like laughter from a group of women…

Let's go see what's happening," Elianora replied with a surprised tone.

Emilia nodded, and they both headed toward the village.

When they arrived, the village square was hellish.

Houses stood on the ground, and others hung strangely on wooden structures.

In the center was a well with a bucket holding a man's head covered in torture marks.

"What the hell is going on here?"

Elianora's voice carried fear and terror at the sight before her.

Women danced in strange ways, laughing.

Some were chopping up groups of men with large cleavers while laughing.

Others were drinking their blood.

"This is madness… and the Crimson Moon hasn't even appeared yet,"

Emilia said fearfully as she described the scene.

Elianora placed her card into the four slots and pulled out a sword with shark-like blades and a violet hue.

She spoke in terror, looking at Emilia:

"We have to hunt these insane wenches."

Both of them charged at the mad women.

Emilia revealed two daggers from her Phantium card, moving swiftly and killing them.

Elionora was surrounded by a group of women. She tried to break free from them, but one of them stabbed her in the stomach. Elionora grabbed the cleaver she had been stabbed with and broke it. The insane woman was shocked to see her sword broken. Elionora then killed her—and slaughtered the rest of the mad women.

"Are you okay, Elionora?" Emilia shouted at Elionora while slashing through the enemies.

"Don't worry about me. You need to focus on the fight," Elionora replied while holding her stomach. Despite her injury, she charged toward them and started killing them one by one.

Hunters possess healing abilities, but they differ from one hunter to another. Some hunters take seconds to recover from wounds, while others may need days.

During the battle with the insane women, an old woman appeared. She wore a black cloak that covered her face completely. She was striking a bell with immense force.

The mad women stopped fighting and retreated behind the old woman, dancing in a bizarre way.

"What's happening?" Emilia was stunned by the sight.

"I don't know, but we shou——"

Elionora didn't finish her sentence, because the mad women began cutting open their own stomachs—intestines spilling out.

"I don't know what's going on, but attacking now might be the best option," Emilia said, preparing to strike hard.

"I don't think so. There's something suspicious about that strange ritual." Elionora was worried something terrifying was about to happen.

'I don't know, but Elionora's instincts are always right… a reckless attack would lead to disaster,' Emilia thought to herself, eyes fixed on the mad women and the wicked old crone, whispering so quietly no one could hear.

The atmosphere became eerie and terrifying. Even the flames lighting the place were extinguished by winds that suddenly enveloped the area. The intestines of the women merged together, resulting in the appearance of a giant woman with nine arms. Her hair completely covered her face, and blood was pouring from every part of her body while she laughed in a horrifying way. The old woman stood behind the monstrous creature, chanting in an incomprehensible language with both her hands raised.

"What the hell is that disgusting thing?" Emilia was repulsed by the strange, grotesque abomination—her facial expression visibly changed.

Elionora, clutching her blade tightly until blood dripped from her hand, spoke calmly:

"I have no idea what that thing is… but it needs to be sent to hell."
