Chapter 4 - Insight

Narrator's POV[1]

The melodies of birds rang out as a beautiful landscape came into view. It looked like a olden time village. The buildings were not grand and fancy like the buildings of the current world. The buildings were made mostly of timbers and leaves for roof.

The village was home to a lot of people like: Marketers, Farmers, Merchants, Landlords etc. It is also the home to a man now named Innominatus. The village was blocked off to other part of the world by forests and rivers.

The world this is all situated isn't the normal world. Things are not as they seem.

Humanity aren't guided by emotions they generate. People emotions are not just innate.

Individuals from around the village, for some reasons unknown to man, have become embodiments of human emotions.

Love, fear, envy, joy and pain, everything else falls under or opposes these. These emotions are carried out by those individuals. They keep those emotions alive and without them, humanity won't be able to feel those emotions.

Hence, to avoid humanity losing what makes them... human, they had one way or the other become... Immortal.

They have been existing for God knows how long, keeping the peace, preventing the unknown, preventing humanity from breaking through the leash holding them back from being a menace.

As they lived and directed people based on the emotions they embody, they gained fame, they gained riches, they gained respect and they gained power.

They dubbed the name: The Council.

And they had gathered again to discuss a major issue. To discuss an anomaly. To discuss something that shouldn't have existed. Something they all want to avoid.

"I do not want to discuss about him. Not again. Haven't we discussed everything necessary forty years ago." the woman in yellow robe said, frowning even harder. It seemed like she was irritated by something.

"Yeah! We issued a law that the people should not physical hurt him or his place of residence during the day and we gave them an appointed time in the night to do their bidding. Isn't that enough?" the man in black robe supported.

"We even went as far to say that any casualties that occur during The Hunting Time, is not the responsibility of him. He can even pay his way out of it with some of his hunt, though it is up to the people if they accept or not. Haven't we done enough?" the man in green robe interjected tapping his fingers on the table in annoyance. "Anyone that decides to face him earlier than the Hunting Time, well, whatever he sees he should take. We shouldn't be raising his matter up again."

Bickering began among The Council members, moving back and forth on a topic they all want to avoid. One person in purple robe keeping to himself.

"Silence, please." Thomas, the man in red robe said holding his hand up making it into a fist to suggest silence.

They quiet down. Their faces were darkened because of the lightening from the torches in the room, making it hard to make out their faces in the seemingly dark room.

"I understand your grievances. We can't running away from our past. Even if we may find it had to accept, we are all partly involved in-"

"Don't give us that bull crap. We have hid it for over centuries and we can do it again." the woman in yellow robe stood up abruptly, interrupting Thomas. Her eyes twitched in annoyance.

"He met Hope and talked to her face to face." he said lowering his head.

"He did what!" the man in black robe exclaimed surprised.

The man in purple frowned a little upon hearing this, but he remained silent.

Bickering began once again among The Council members.

"Well, we can't say for sure that it may lead to anything, but we can't be too sure. We need to increase the surveillance on him, just to be safe. If we see any changes or abnormalities, we will figure out what we will do from there. Meeting dismissed." Thomas walked out of the meeting room, his face darkening. "I wonder what 'they' will do." He said looking up.

Boars and bears are seen stacked up in a setting area, while a boy at the side his setting up a fire.

CRACKLE! CRACKLE!

The fire swayed. He cut bits of pieces of the meat and roasted it on the flames using a stick. When it was ready, he took bites from it savoring the taste. 'This will taste better with the bread and buns at home.'

He continued munching. He then divided his remaining into two. He walked out of the forest, dropping off the first half in his house.

'Please let them agree. Please. Please.' he begged in his head not in the mood to go through that pain today.

He walked up to the village head quarters, presenting the other half as if it was a sacrifice.

Unbeknownst to him, the robe he picked from the wires was for one of the village head's wives.
