Chapter 11 - The Blind and the Fox

Tris just chuckled as he went inside, up the stairs. – It took him a bit to reach his room, which was located on the third floor, then down a long-ish hallway. His door was last on the right! Room. . Thirty-two!

As he entered, he let out a sharp exhale. His bed was made neatly, he wasn't one to leave this unarranged. – Or well, for now. He is probably going to just leave it messed up just cause he can after school starts... Typical teenager behaviour, not like anyone can stop him.

For the time being, he avoided having to go and check who would end up being his roommate for at least the next few months, and even now he was dreading it. – There were so many bad options, nor did he think there were any good ones...

At best, he would be shoved in with a silent guy or lady, being able to lock himself in his room and not be bothered, not that much at least. Just standing and doing his own business, not like he could go all out with Fuka roaming around, but eh, better nonetheless.

A medium option, or well, the average. Would be some normal people, just some normal roommate at most. Normal guy or lady, helping with homework and all that. Though those ones were rare, even extremely rare.

The worst? You pray this shall not happen to you. Rock or band people. Lady or guy, it does not matter, you WILL die. They will murder you slowly, you will lack sleep and everything as your body slowly turns into dust... Unless we take the fact that Tris sleeps like three to four hours per night and is fine. – Though he heavily doubted he would run into any Avatar of some god. Or heir, for that matter. Unless his presence made them approach.

And at best, THE BEST of the best...Maybe some cute soft lady. – Wait, where was his mind running? He was not even interested in a relationship! Those things took too much management... He has other important things to do! Soft ladies were not even his type! At least that's what he thought! Right...?

Anyway! Entering the room, he just threw his bag onto the bed. – Moving on, he took off his shirt, its material was rather leather-y, making him a tad bit uncomfortable as he proceeded to mess up his wardrobe and choose one he liked, by just moving his hand over them. – His tactile sense was one of a kind in the end, making it easy.

The shirt he chose was rather plain, having some small random band symbols on its sleeves, which were short! It was mostly just black, yet extremely comfortable on his skin. – Perhaps he was just sensitive! His skin was very warm most of the time, reason he enjoyed the cold in the end!

He badly wanted to lie in bed, extremely badly. He just grabbed the bag and shirt, tossed them into some corner, and proceeded to throw himself onto it. Just stretching himself like a cat.

He let out a second sharp exhale, his back lightly hurting as he calmed his body. In theory, he would still be alone until at least Friday. His hopes were not that high; he heavily doubted he could really be alone until Friday, so he was planning to abuse this time to just rest and mentally prepare himself!

But the poor fox did not have the opportunity, as he heard the door open and close. He let out another sharp exhale, his thoughts going wild. Hopefully it was a good person... Honestly, he wouldn't mind a good-looking band girl. – Control yourself! Boy.

Soft steps could be heard walking around, seemingly no one asked if he was inside, almost as if they didn't realise it with all his things around... Peculiar. – His ears gave a flicker as he finally got up, moving towards the doorway and peering his head out.

Next to the door, rested against the wall stood a walking cane! Moving forward, she was a rather pale person. No, not even comparable to how Pale Tris was, yet pale nonetheless. Her eyes were covered by a white headband, also holding her hair together quite well, it was white, with greenish tips. Perhaps leaning into lime.

She kept going forward, her hands seemingly touching the walls gently as she used them to guide herself. Then suddenly, her foot slightly tapped into something! A water bottle! – She paused for a second, her hand moving.

"Uh- Anyone around?"

Her voice spoke, rather sharp, with a tone that was there with some kind of confidence. It made Tris wish to duck back into his room and say he was sleeping. Yet that wouldn't really be a good start.

"Ah- Hello! I would assume you are to be my roommate?"

Tris answered, making his voice soft, sounding slightly childish. – To an extent, he was hoping the answer would be No, and that they came here to notify him he wouldn't have one, but that was merely a daydream at this point.

"I am! I'm sorry for the sudden intrusion, I can not see... That well."

She spoke as if it were not clear. Her head turned towards the direction of his voice, as he moved his body slightly, uncomfortable, then realised she could still not see. He raised his hands and just held the sides of his head lightly. He did not dare let out a sharp exhale, after all she could maybe hear him.

"Yes! That would be me. My Name's Tris! I've been here for a few weeks prior... So most of my things are around!"

He spoke, still slightly shy around the new person. Mainly taking they were in the same grade, most likely. His eyes moved around while awaiting an answer to his words.

"Ah! Nice to meet ya! I am Nora."

She answered, the confidence almost making Tris shrink lightly once more. In his mind, Fuka was just whispering some things, mostly related to the runes he had learnt today. And that did not help him in the current moment.

Tris did not know what to say, followed by an awkward silence, at least from what he could tell. He looked away, knowing that staring was rude. But it's not like she could tell either. – As time went by, Nora just started laughing. To her, the silence was quite hilarious. From her perspective, she was just dealing with a shy boy; she could already tell he did not plan this far when meeting his roommate.

He stood rather panicked, did he do anything? No he did not even move! He was being nice, too! It is not like Tris chose to throw things at her, even though it was an option.

"Alright- Alright, Im sorry. The silence was just something, For the love of Sol..."

Sol?! Tris was now once more mortified. What did the gods throw at him this time? She was just laughing, taking it hilariously, and like a joke! Where did she pull that from?

"Uhh- Excuse me, Sol?"

He spoke, attempting to keep himself contained. Yet his body clearly showed it, thanks to the gods above, she was blind. This would be the first time they actually did a nice thing for him!

"Ah- Apologies, it is religious- I am pagan. Something from my mother. Nothing to worry about, though. I will not sacrifice you! – Your voice tells me you're a little softie."

Tris blinked as those words left her mouth. Yes, he was aware some humans unknowingly followed the three gods, which wasn't that bad. But him?! A softie?! He was towering above her! What size did she think he was?

He did not have to ask, seemingly Nora moved, wanting to just pat him on the head, her hand moved around Tris's chest as he just blinked, Nora paused for a moment as she did not find a head but a chest there instead. .

"I-I take those words back. Your voice catfished me..."

She spoke, now she was the awkward one! Tris just gave an honest cackle as she was shown she was wrong by her own actions. Clearly now embarrassed as she stepped back, leaning against the wall, her head was no longer looking down but slightly more accurate and raised.

"Right right, just cause I don't sound confident... Hmph. Alright, come here, your room is on the left."

He spoke with a small stretch, walking in the right direction, slowly to make sure she followed along carefully. He did not think his time would be used to help a blind lady get used to an apartment, but it was better than lying in bed, sleeping and listening to things... – Plus it meant Fuka could still walk around freely!

"Mhmm! Thank you! Also, do you have a pet? It smells slightly like a forestry thing... Fox-?"

She spoke as Tris paused once more, yeah. At least she could not see the fact that this fox was a tad bit special.

"Correct, Fuka. You'll meet her later... Probably won't eat you in your sleep."

Hearing those words, she also paused for a moment, but she did not question it. – The rest of the day, or well. The few hours. Tris spent helping her unpack her bags. Before finally going and throwing himself back in bed. This was for sure going to be an interesting experience, he will curse one day.
