Chapter 13 - Blue Tyrant Academy, Liu Erlong

Yu Yuanzhen, Yu Luomian, Yu Tianming, and Ah Zhu and Ah Zhi didn't take a carriage—instead, the five of them chose to walk to Blue Tyrant Academy in a low-key manner.

Heaven Dou City was extremely prosperous. All the streets were paved with large slabs of blue stone, and each road was wider than the main streets of an average small town. The sheer scale of the city could only be described as magnificent.

Under the guidance of their "tour guide" Yu Luomian, the group weaved through the streets and alleys, and before they knew it, they arrived at the edge of a vast forest.

In a city like Heaven Dou—filled with towers and pavilions—a huge forest suddenly appearing before them would naturally catch anyone's eye.

Proudly, Yu Luomian explained to Yu Tianming, "This is the largest green area in Heaven Dou City—Blue Tyrant Forest. It also belongs to our Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Blue Tyrant Academy is located inside."

Owning such a large piece of land in a bustling metropolis like Heaven Dou was beyond valuable. Even Ning Fengzhi would have to think twice if he wanted to purchase such land. Yet the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan had simply filled it with trees.

Seeing how proud he was, Yu Tianming couldn't help but grumble inwardly. In ten years, once Liu Erlong took charge, this huge piece of land would be handed over to Shrek.

But he couldn't really blame Liu Erlong. After all, every woman on the Douluo Continent—from the Pope who held sway over the world to hundred-thousand-year soul beasts in human form—seemed to have a few screws loose.

When they reached the front of Blue Tyrant Forest, they saw a massive gate standing among the lush greenery, nearly as tall as the main gate of Heaven Dou City. It was carved entirely from white marble, with eight gilded characters gleaming on its surface:

Blue Tyrant Advanced Soul Master Academy.

As soon as they arrived at the gate, a middle-aged man hurried over from the nearby reception area.

"I'm Yin Shu, currently a teacher here at Blue Tyrant Academy. The dean has arranged for me to introduce the academy to you all."

The group followed him into the academy grounds. The surroundings weren't as luxurious as some of the more prestigious academies, but the overall style was simple, spacious, and made one feel at ease.

"Our Blue Tyrant Academy is about one-third the size of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. Though not large, our teaching is strict and focused. We only accept commoners and reject nobility, so our enrollment periods don't conflict with the Imperial Academy's," Yin Shu explained.

"Because we only accept commoner soul masters, the innate quality of our students' martial souls tends to be weaker than that of typical advanced academies. But that also means our students are more hardworking—far more diligent than those from noble houses."

Yu Tianming nodded. He knew that in five years, Blue Tyrant Academy would eliminate Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's second team and break into the top eight in the Continental Soul Master Tournament.

A wide path led deeper into the academy, flanked by tall trees that blocked much of the sunlight.

At the end of this tree-lined road stood a large open field with a diameter of over two hundred meters. Unlike modern tracks in his past life that were 400 meters around, this one was nearly a full kilometer.

Rather than calling it a field, it was more accurate to call it a grassy expanse—there was no track, just vibrant Blue Silver Grass swaying in the wind.

Surrounding the field was a ring of three-story buildings, covering about 100,000 square meters in total—more than sufficient for an academy that didn't take in many students.

Suddenly, the previously quiet Yu Tianming spoke up, "That grassy field in the middle feels off. Why not dig it up and build an artificial lake?"

Yu Luomian gave it some thought and agreed. Leaving such a huge plot filled only with Blue Silver Grass in the center of the teaching buildings didn't look great.

"We can spend a little more and hire some professional soul masters to reshape the terrain and fill it with water. It'll only take a few days to complete the lake."

Though this world had no industrial revolution, soul masters provided an alternative form of high productivity—sometimes even surpassing what modern industry could achieve.

As they approached the buildings, Teacher Yin Shu began introducing the various structures—dining halls, dormitories, and classrooms.

Class had just ended, and a few students around fifteen or sixteen years old passed by from time to time.

Yin Shu continued, "Right now, we have over three hundred students. The facilities may not rival Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, but among commoner academies, we're top-tier. Recruitment's been smooth. At the moment, we're not expanding further due to a lack of qualified teachers."

After leaving the mimicry training ground, the group arrived at the academy's main hall.

It was a spire-roofed building facing the academy's main road. The interior was completely open, without any partitions. Sunlight poured in through the windows, making it almost as bright as the outdoors. The granite floor was bare, and the whitewashed walls were unadorned.

After a simple tour, the group took a small path leading to the rear of the academy.

Yin Shu explained, "The dean usually isn't on campus. She prefers solitude and lives in the forest. Since the academy now runs smoothly, the daily operations are handled by the teachers. Only major issues require the dean's attention."

A few hundred meters later, the trees began to thin. Hanging from a particularly large banyan tree was a sign that read: "Restricted Area – No Entry Without Permission."

Beyond the tree, the scenery changed dramatically.

They came upon a small lake, no more than fifty meters in diameter. A three-meter-wide stream flowed silently from the forest, feeding into the lake before continuing onward. The constant flow kept the water fresh.

Beside the lake was a humble thatched hut, built from raw timber and straw, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. A low wooden fence enclosed a small garden filled with blooming flowers in every color—a vibrant, picturesque scene.

A woman stood there, watering the flowers with a kettle in hand. Perhaps she heard footsteps, for she instinctively looked toward the approaching group.

Her gaze passed over the Blue Tyrant Academy soul masters in front and landed on Yu Luomian and Yu Yuanzhen behind them. Her body suddenly froze. With a clang, the kettle slipped from her hands and hit the ground.

She appeared to be a woman in her late twenties. Her hair was tied up neatly with a cloth wrap, and though she wore a plain blue dress, it couldn't hide her elegance. Her slightly pale face was beautiful and delicate, her features refined like a painting. She seemed to recognize Yu Yuanzhen's identity. Nervously, she rubbed her fingers against the edge of her skirt, looking uneasy and overwhelmed.

Having pieced together the identities of Yu Yuanzhen and Yu Luomian from their earlier conversations, Yin Shu respectfully said to the woman behind the fence:

"Dean, I've brought the guests as requested. I'll take my leave now."

As Yin Shu departed, Yu Luomian was completely baffled. He was just about to ask why his normally assertive daughter was acting so strangely.

But before he could speak, Liu Erlong completely ignored her father and walked straight up to Yu Yuanzhen. With a shy expression, she said, "You must be Xiao Gang's father, right?"

Author Note:

Replacing the academy's central field with a lake just felt right. That oversized track always screamed high school, but a lake? That's got college campus vibes.

Honestly, the original got the scale of the field wrong—switching to a lake fixes everything.
