Chapter 23 - 23- Hunter and Prey, The Key to Solving the Problem

"The primary question now is the whereabouts of the Holy Spring!"

"Current information only confirms that the Fountain of Wisdom is in Jotunheim."

"Jotunheim, the realm of the Frost Giants, is blanketed in eternal ice year-round. Its native inhabitants, the Frost Giants, are scattered across the land."

"To find the Fountain of Wisdom, I'd have to face countless giants who might try to stop me."

"That's the second question!"

A deep enmity exists between the Frost Giants and Asgard.

The two factions clashed repeatedly, their war finally ending in the Atrium a thousand years ago.

In that battle, Odin lost an eye permanently, while Laufey, the Frost Giant King, had his sacred relic, the Casket of Ancient Winters, taken.

Without it, Laufey lost any chance of challenging Odin's supremacy and was forced to sign a non-aggression pact.

This ushered in a fragile peace that has lasted a millennium.

They'd never welcome an Asgardian trespassing into Jotunheim.

Most likely, it'd come to blows.

Aaron still remembered that his predecessor's parents were killed by Laufey in that Atrium battle a thousand years ago.

So, strictly speaking, he harbored a deep grudge against the Frost Giants too.

Given the chance, Aaron wouldn't mind avenging his parents' deaths himself.

This was why he'd felt an instinctive rejection toward Loki before.

Loki was a descendant of the Frost Giant royal family.

Taken by Odin as an infant, he'd been transformed with magic to resemble an Asgardian and raised as his own.

Aaron guessed Odin's intent was likely to groom Loki to replace Laufey as the Frost Giant King when the time was right.

Then, he'd pass Asgard's throne to Thor.

With the brotherly bond between Thor and Loki, the enmity between the races could be resolved, allowing them to support each other and maintain peace across the Nine Realms.

But Odin hadn't anticipated that, by saying both were born to be kings without revealing Loki's origins—or even nurturing him properly—Loki would grow rebellious and mischievous, wrongly believing Odin favored Thor.

Later, even after learning his true heritage, Loki scorned the Frost Giant throne. Instead, he plotted to kill Laufey, attempted to destroy Jotunheim with the Rainbow Bridge, and sought to claim Asgard's throne through that "merit."

Odin's initial plan was elegant, but it veered wildly off course.

Laufey's death might've seemed sudden and surprising,

But Aaron never underestimated the seemingly frail Laufey.

His weakness was relative to Odin.

Even without the Casket, he remained the Frost Giant King, wielding power beyond ordinary beings.

Combined with the countless Frost Giants under him, reaching the Fountain of Wisdom would be no small feat.

Either he'd need to boost his strength and bulldoze through Laufey and his forces,

Or… go invisible!

"Invisibility magic… If I can hide from the Frost Giants, I could avoid a war."

"Once I reach the Fountain of Wisdom, I can quickly boost my power by absorbing enough magic energy."

"That way, I'd sidestep a direct clash with Odin."

The Eternal Flame and the Casket of Ancient Winters were in Asgard, but obtaining them was near impossible.

For Aaron, at his current level, it was a daunting challenge.

If Odin caught him stealing those artifacts, even as a magic prodigy, he couldn't escape the consequences.

After all, this was a man who'd ruthlessly sealed Hela away for years, erasing all traces of her existence.

Even Thor and Loki, now grown, still didn't know they had a terrifyingly powerful older sister—the true heir to the throne.

"Besides invisibility magic, there's one final issue."

"How do I get to Jotunheim?"

"This problem…"

"Maybe there are two options."

"Heimdall… Loki…"

As Aaron pondered, Erin spoke earnestly, "Aaron, Amora is an extremely dangerous person. There might not be anyone in Asgard more dangerous than her."

"Though you luckily avoided her this time, knowing Amora, she won't just let it go."

"Next time, she'll definitely come after you again."

"You'd better steer clear of her and never be alone with her again."

Facing Erin's concern, Aaron nodded to show he understood, but his mind drifted elsewhere.

Speaking of which—Amora!

She might be the key to solving this!

Amora had uncovered the Holy Spring's existence and mastered psychic charm.

Perhaps she also knew invisibility magic.

Maybe he could get the "key" from her. In all of Asgard, besides Odin, the only ones likely to know the Fountain of Wisdom's location were Frigga and Heimdall!

If he could control Heimdall, the problem would be solved.

"Amora… We'll meet again soon."

Aaron suddenly felt he might be able to subdue her.

She'd brought him plenty of surprises.

Even more surprising, she was the weakest link among the key figures, and her greatest strength was something he could counter.

It was like a juicy morsel delivered right to his door.

On the other side,

Amora sneezed hard after leaving the Magic Academy.

Yet she had no idea she'd gone from hunter to prey—or that she'd been pegged as an easy target…

Golden Palace.

Frigga went straight to Odin.

She needed to tell him about Aaron.
