Chapter 6 - Murkfang.

Byung became interested and wondered what the requirement for the rebate was but didn't know how to communicate with it just yet.

He was still coming to terms with it because part of him thought he was going insane.

There had to be a reason it didn't work but Byung had been promoted and had a goblin tethered to him due to his conscience not being able to see another person suffer in his presence when he had the means to help out.

But Byung realized he wasn't the only one who got a promotion because everyone in that room was an exceptional miner hence why they had a break.

Byung thought he was special, but in the end, there would be others who would get that same treatment, but there was a difference.

Byung was exceptionally young, way younger than any of them which made his promotion exceptional considering he had only been born a few months ago.

These goblins were over a year old so Byung had done things that they took double the time to

could you do it?

Byung noticed there was something interesting about all of this because no one had called these goblins by any name.

They had no names and were instead assigned numbers according to the time they were here.

The numbers were always reallocated upon each promotion with the numbers being reassigned to their appropriate bearer.

Byung was among the last five and noticed they hadn't had anyone new brought in for quite some time.

This showed the goblins weren't reproducing at an overwhelming rate and he wasn't sure how long the whole process took either.

"Are you okay?" The timid goblin asked but the stutter was no longer present showing he had begun to trust Byung.

"I am just distracted…" Byung responded with an exhausted sigh because there was still so much he didn't know about all of this.

This included the system he had either been blessed or cursed with as he hadn't figured it out entirely.

"Say, how old are you?" Byung asked the timid goblin and without hesitation, he divulged his age.

"I'm 2 years old," The goblin responded and this shocked Kyle considering how young he was in this world.

The fact that he was older and looked like this must be some genetic defect.

But Byung knew he had to leave him behind eventually as a supervisor appeared shortly after.

"Damn, you're a lot older than me!" Byung couldn't hide his surprise but they were interrupted when someone walked in.

Everyone stood at ease and Byung realized it was someone he hadn't seen before.

They were dressed differently but not just that, their physique looked bigger than theirs showing they were a lot older even though they were an inch or so taller than they were.

"Which one of you is 402?" The goblin asked right away and everyone's eyes focused on Byung.

"That would be me, sir," Byung responded, the goblin standing in his presence was none other than Murkfang. Mukfang didn't waste time because he knew that there was a chance this goblin was different from the rest.

"Come with me," Murkfang commanded and Byung knew without question he had to obey.

The way he spoke and carried himself, this was the person he would need to climb the ladder.

He followed him outside and Byung couldn't help but admire the clothes he had on; he had no jewellery equipped.

"You look different from what I thought you would look like," Murfang told Byung but he coughed faintly before that escalated into something aggressive.

Upon closer observation, Byung noticed his skin looked weird but not in a good way.

"Are you okay?" Byung questioned but Murkfang quickly downplayed it.

"I'm fine…" Murkfang responded but Murkfang came alone. In the end, he succumbed to his friend's request and gave him some coins to get his cock wet.

Byung walked towards him. Byung was familiar with herbs and medicine because he had studied them extensively in his past life due to his disability.

"I'm here to see the prodigy with my own eyes and even I can see you aren't the same as the others," Murkfang pointed out.

"Hahaha! Why do you say so?" Byung asked but it was the way he carried himself, he didn't behave like a goblin at all.

"You don't act like a goblin," Murkfang said and this immediately put Byung on guard.

"What are you talking about?" Byung questioned, trying to play dumb because goblins had limited intelligence.

"You had the look of a human," Murkfang added and this shocked Byung because it meant that there were not only humans in this world but this goblin must have met them.

But before the conversation could go further, the man coughed once again and Byung instantly knew there was something wrong with him.

"Now that I think about it, I have never seen them use any sort of medicine," Byung thought to himself but noticed that the numbers had also reduced from when he initially came here.

He assumed they got promoted but experiencing the actual promotion in person, he was beginning to doubt it.

There was a good chance they died but Byung found a way to get into the good graces of this person.

"I can help you with your cough," Byung said and this shocked the goblin but once again, confirmed Byung didn't think like one of them.

They were mortal and their lifespan wasn't long but this was exactly why they should take their health seriously but this was the opposite.

"Help me?" Murkfang questioned with a raised brow. Byung knew this would either make or break what he was trying to do but it was worth a shot.

If anything, he wanted to help his species escape their pathetic fate that centred around reproduction.

There was so much they could do here and Byung was going to bring it all to fruition.
