Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Who is the Real Protagonist?

"Descend, Chaos Dragon Leviathan."

Level: 1

Type: National Enemy-Class Treasure – Hostile Domain Treasure (Capable of Growth)

A fantasy weapon forged through the heroic and legendary exploits of one who wielded the power of a Mythical Zoan, phantom beast-type Bone Dragon, fused with the divine energy of the God's Left Hand—the Hand of Hermes.

It summons forth the Chaos Dragon Leviathan, a creature capable of reducing entire nations to rubble in mere moments.

In its prime, it could twist and collapse the very fabric of the world with a single coiled motion—undoubtedly, a Realm-Level Treasure.

...

This was the information Daemon shared with the chat group after retrieving the newly acquired treasure.

Looking at the absurdly exaggerated description... for a moment, silence reigned.

Then—

Miyuki Uchiha: "Wow! This is terrifying. Are we all just side characters now? Is Daemon the actual protagonist here? Your system rewards are in a completely different league!"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "I'm not even into combat… but yeah. This is insane."

Sakura Tosaka: "I think it's great! The stronger Brother Daemon becomes, the better. We're all allies here."

Yamamoto Mei: "True… the stronger the team, the better. We're comrades who support each other, after all."

Yamamoto Mei: "But your ability is way too overpowered… The Hand of Hermes has basically taken a power that should be peak Vice Admiral or Admiral level and forcibly pushed it beyond even ancient weapons."

Miyuki Uchiha: "Right? Right? That thing's so huge, I think it could crush an entire continent!"

Esdeath: "Incredible! A flawless weapon of war!"

Esdeath: "@Daemon Saint — when we can travel across worlds in the future, please use this treasure on me. I want to feel the power that can level a continent!"

Sakura Tosaka: "…Sister Esdeath…"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "…She really is a war maniac, huh."

Daemon: "...Sure."

The chat group erupted in admiration and envy over Daemon's newest power.

Esdeath, in particular, was practically thrilled—already fantasizing about a future of conquest and devastation under Daemon's banner.

Daemon himself was pleased, momentarily consumed by the illusion of invincibility.

But he quickly regained clarity.

Yes, destroying a small continent was indeed possible... but certainly not with a single blow. Not yet.

It was powerful—terrifyingly so—but not omnipotent.

Especially when considering the existence of actual gods.

Even in worlds like Bleach or Naruto, planet-level beings existed at the top.

So why were the others so shocked?

For two reasons—

One: The other group members had only recently obtained their systems. The longest user had barely one or two years of experience. Their strength—and their understanding of their own world's power ceiling—was still developing.

Two: The power ceiling of the One Piece world was simply too low.

The strongest known weapons, the Ancient Weapons, could at most obliterate an island or nation.

So when Daemon unveiled something that looked like it belonged in a different reality altogether, their shock was understandable.

It wasn't just overwhelming power—it was an anomaly.

And it proved one thing above all—

The Hand of Hermes truly lived up to its divine name.

Daemon's God's Left Hand… was unreasonably broken.

...

In the One Piece World—

Daemon exited the chat group and recalled the Chaos Dragon Leviathan, still lingering high above in the sky.

A sudden wave of fatigue washed over him.

His face paled slightly, and his body wobbled—he nearly collapsed.

Shocking.

He'd only maintained the treasure's release for a few minutes, yet it felt like it had drained him to his core.

This, from the man who once went five days and nights without rest during a certain "ahem" kind of festival.

Daemon wasn't weak—not by any measure.

But this power had a cost.

Thankfully, the others were still overwhelmed by what they'd just witnessed. None of them noticed his moment of weakness.

Thanks to the enhanced constitution of humans in this world, especially with the physique Daemon had cultivated, his stamina began recovering swiftly the moment Leviathan vanished.

And as the sky cleared and the dreadful aura lifted, the sea returned to peace.

The people on the surrounding islands slowly began to regain their composure, as if waking from a nightmare.

But Akainu and the others?

They knew better.

That was no dream.

That was real.

And it was terrifying.

"That... was that an Ancient Weapon?"

Akainu's throat was dry. His voice was hoarse. His instincts screamed danger.

Magellan and Shiryu didn't even have the courage to speak.

They dropped to their knees, too afraid to utter a word. The weight of what they had seen left them paralyzed.

Even Stussy, who had once been intimately close with Daemon, couldn't bring herself to speak.

They all believed it now.

The massive skeletal dragon that had blanketed the sun—was an Ancient Weapon.

Perhaps even the legendary Uranus.

"So that's why the Celestial Dragons could establish the World Government and rule over the world... They had a godlike power backing them all along," Stussy thought silently.

A mystery that spanned 800 years—now laid bare before her.

"Guess?" Daemon replied, smiling faintly at Akainu's question.

"Heh… understood."

Akainu exhaled and pulled down the brim of his cap.

He didn't press further.

He wasn't stupid.

Secrets like this—aren't meant to be asked about.

As for why Daemon revealed this power in front of them?

Akainu had already come to a conclusion.

He's trying to bring them under his banner. Just like Stussy.

But even with that reasoning, Akainu wasn't ready to pledge loyalty to a Celestial Dragon.

No matter how different he seemed.

"Let's move."

Daemon's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

"Daemon Saint, awaiting your command!"

Magellan, who had been frozen in place, lowered his head deeply.

Power commands obedience.

Status and strength command worship.

"I'm going to tour Impel Down… and maybe slaughter a few pirates while I'm at it."

Daemon's voice was calm. Half-truth, half-decree.

With slow, deliberate steps, he began walking toward the massive gates of the undersea prison.

Behind him, Akainu, Stussy, and Shiryu followed without hesitation.

Only Magellan hesitated.

To slaughter prisoners indiscriminately—that was not his justice.

If anyone else tried that—any other Celestial Dragon—he would have fought to the death to stop them.

But this man...

The image of that apocalyptic Bone Dragon burned in his mind again.

Magellan's massive body trembled.

It wasn't death he feared—

It was divinity.

"Understood, Daemon Saint."

Without reporting to the Five Elders or contacting the World Government, Magellan fell into step.

"Allow your new Chief Warden Magellan to lead the way!"
