Chapter 3 - Arrival

Gangtok, Southern Continent, Straussix.

A middle sized private jet hummed to a stop on a private unknown airstrip.

The gates unfurled open, revealing a pair of teenagers, dressed in plain but branded clothing.

The boy looked like a rich brat, wearing a white linen shirt that had its buttons half opened. He was wearing dark aviator sunglasses as he walked down the stairs.

His body was lean and decently built, while his face was sharp jawed and cleanly shaved, one that can be easily considered handsome, but not obnoxiously so.

While the girl was wearing a blue sundress that showed off her perfectly fair skin and petite fit body. She wore a sunhat on top of her head with light lipstick gracing her lips.

Her mascara appeared to be slightly smudged, but her emerald eyes didn't have a single hint of nervousness in them.

Their luggage was soon delivered to them and the maids on the jet bowed to them politely before shutting off the doors.

Ian looked around him, not noticing anyone, he sighed and dropped his overbearing attitude.

"How much money did you get from your parents?" He swallowed his pride and decided to talk to Alice again.

"5k." Alice didn't have an option either, as she turned to Ian and answered.

'Her voice is still very snobbish and irritating to hear.' Ian didn't dare say it out loud.

"I got 1k, I suggest we should first check out the university and then figure things out from there." Ian said.

"I thought Maxwells were richer than us," Alice mumbled under her breath and nodded, "Yeah, good idea. We are stuck in this together, so we might even help each other."

"Glad we think the same." Ian nodded, clenching his fist from not punching her.

Soon, the pair walked out of the unknown airstrip, and strangely enough, they didn't find any staff in sight.

But, ignoring it, they reached the roads.

"Should we take a taxi?" Alice asked.

"Our funds aren't infinite, missy." Ian quipped.

'Counting her own 5k and my 1k, we barely have 6k collectively. That's too low!' he thought in his mind.

"Well, we don't know the way, genius." Alice grumbled back.

"We can ask the locals. Sauff University is quite famous. Maybe it's nearby, we can walk there."

"Oh right, you only got 1k. Poor guy." Alice grinned, "I'm taking a taxi. If you say please, I can let you come. Or go ahead and walk."

Ian sighed. It wasn't like he didn't want a taxi, he was just trying to be more logical.

But then again, walking did sound exhausting. And with a bitch like her by his side, Ian nodded to himself.

"Taxi it is," he said.

"Good. Forget the please, just flag one down." Alice nodded, making Ian wonder just what kind of a life had she lived before it.

Did she think of herself as a queen or something?

Princess syndrome?

Not in mood to argue, Ian flagged one down and told the driver to take them to the Sauff University.

"New admissions?" the driver was a healthy middle-aged man, who looked kind enough.

"Yeah." Ian replied, bored.

"You don't look like you're from here. It's rare to see blonde hairs. Are you foreigners?"

"Yeah."

"Am I troubling you, sir?"

"Yeah."

The chubby driver coughed awkwardly and stopped talking.

***

Sauff University deserved every bit of its fame, spreading out for acres of land and consisting of every facility a university is known to offer.

The campus was big enough that one could lose 10 kilos just by walking around it daily.

And just like Ian and Alice, many foreigners of different continents could be seen around the campus, which made sense.

Sauff was world famous, so it was only obvious that there would be people from all around the world studying in it.

"We have reached, sir. It would be 91$."

Just as Ian was going to online transfer the amount, Alice extended her hand and gave the driver a 100$ note, "Keep the change."

Ian clenched his fist again.

Maybe Alice wasn't aware yet, but they weren't rich enough to be so extravagant now!

Maybe she thought that this was just a joke. Or his dad would just call her back, but Ian wasn't that dumb.

He saw how serious Leon was, and this was definitely not a joke.

Though, his 18th birthday could be called a joke indeed.

He didn't know how 'delicately' Alice was raised, and looking at her attitude, it was much worse than Ian.

At least Leon was a strict father when he needed to be.

'Asking for change would be too much now…' Ian didn't say anything to the driver and shut the door.

He didn't show it yet, but he was getting too impatient with his forced fiance.

'Pretty? Thank you father? Fuck it! She's a bitch!' Ian grit his teeth and walked into the main campus of the university.

Alas… the main shock was still left to be delivered to the both of them…

"Welcome to the Sauff University, Mister Maxwell, Miss Wheeler." the receptionist smiled to the pair, before searching their names through the computer.

"It shows both of you are enrolled for the business education, is that correct, sir, mam?"

"Yeah." Ian answered while Alice just nodded.

"That's amazing! We are glad to have you both." the receptionist then pressed a few buttons on the computer printed out two pages, giving it to Ian and Alice along with an envelope for each.

"The papers are your admit cards for the classes, and the envelope contains the university handbook and guidelines." she explained.

Ian nodded, "Can you tell us about the dorms for us? We are still carrying our luggage and that's a little inconvenient."

Hearing that, Alice nodded like a henpecked chicken.

"Oh, I am so sorry, sir…

The dorm facility isn't mentioned for your names. I will recheck."

Ian's eyes widened.

It couldn't be…

"I have rechecked. You both have only opted for the tuition fees, the dorm facility isn't opted or paid for."
