Chapter 21 - Bruises I Can’t See

Rayzen hated this feeling.

He could read people like open books—their fears, their lies, their intentions.

But Alea?

She was a maze.Quiet. Still. But deeper than she looked.

She used to throw sarcasm back at him. Now?Just a faint smile… and silence.

And that silence hit harder than any punch he'd ever taken.

"You good, man?"

Rayzen turned.Jax, his jumpy but loyal friend, sat on the back of his bike, wiping grease off his hands.

"Yeah. I'm just…"Rayzen let out a slow breath. "...tired."

But he wasn't tired.He was… unsettled.

And it wasn't because of Kael. Not the gang wars. Not even the cops.

It was her.

Alea didn't call him out anymore.Didn't look at him the same.

And for some reason, her absence echoed louder than her words ever did.

His eyes landed on a small folded paper tucked into the back seat of his bike.

It wasn't his.

He picked it up.

The handwriting was soft, shaky.

"You're dangerous.But safe."

Rayzen froze.

This can't be hers… right?

"Yo, Zen! You coming?"

"In a sec," he muttered.

He folded the note gently, slipping it into his jacket pocket like it was something sacred.

He didn't know if it was from her.

But damn…

He hoped it was.
