Rudi Anderson was hurt by Hilla Holt, and he had a concussion. The entire Anderson mansion was in an uproar.
Lysa Layla looked at her own son with pity in her eyes. When she saw Hilla Holt, her eyes were filled with viciousness.
"What happened?"
When Orlenna saw Hilla, she stood in front of her to protect her, and she pulled her to the side to ask this question.
Ever since six months ago when Bruce Anderson was injured, Rudi Anderson had been taking up more and more of the managerial authority over the Anderson Company. Even though Master Anderson was there to protect them, Orlenna knew well that if Bruce Anderson failed to wake up, their future would appear bleak at best.
Even if Master Anderson left them a fortune, it was a fortune that would run out sooner or later. Besides, Rudi Anderson's family was not that amicable.
Hilla Holt pursed her lips and said, "I struck him."
"You hear that? You hear that?! She confessed! Call the cops and have her locked up! This woman is crazy!"
When Rudi Anderson heard the confession from Hilla, he became smug. If his head were not spinning, he would have danced around with joy.
Master Anderson threw a cold glare at him, and that silenced Rudi Anderson. He put on a pitiful look and said, "Grandfather, she hit me."
"Father, look at how she injured my Rudi! You must be unbiased! Think about how the family will have to rely on Rudi in the future! What would we do if Rudi sustained permanent injury to his head?"
Rudi Anderson had thick gauze wrapped around his head. When he heard what Lysa Layla said, he immediately fell to the sofa, breathing so raggedly and looking weaker than even Bruce Anderson upstairs.
Master Anderson scoffed coldly and said, "How are we relying on Rudi when I'm not dead yet?"
Lysa's face turned pale immediately. She knew she had spoken wrongly. She immediately waved her hands and said, "That's not what I meant, Father. We all naturally wish for you to live for as long as you can, but Bruce is already bedridden, you couldn't possibly hope for the same to happen to our boy Rudi, right?"
But she went overboard with her words, and Orlenna's expression turned sour. She held Hilla's hand tightly.
"Father, Hilla didn't mean it."
When Orlenna was going to continue her explanation, Hilla jumped in to interrupt.
"No. I did what I did and I did it on purpose. If he were not Bruce's elder brother, I would have done something worse."
Everyone in the mansion sucked in a deep breath. Rudi himself hunched his shoulders. He felt a chill on the back of his head.
To think that she was actually holding back…
Lysa Layla was shocked. She thought Hilla was just a meek little girl from a rich family! But in reality, she was practically an Amazonian!
"Father, you have to execute justice for Rudi! The family cannot go on without him!"
Rudi was still lying on the sofa. The Andersons were without any other heirs right now, and Rudi Anderson was the only person who could take on the role.
Lysa Layla was crying foul, and Rudi Anderson was at the side with his arm on his waist. He would not allow Hilla Holt to go free without suffering first. Then, it would be easier for him to subjugate her.
Even though his head was still injured, it would not stop him from lusting after her.
Hilla Holt straightened herself in a neither humble nor arrogant manner and spoke loudly, "I think the family will fall if it ends up in such a person's hands."
"What did you say?!"
Lysa Layla almost leapt from the sofa and ripped off that pretty little face if Orlenna had not stopped her.
"Stop talking."
Orlenna tugged at her, but Hilla did not listen. Instead, she retaliated. "Rudi Anderson claimed that the Anderson family will belong to him when Master Anderson dies. Even my mother-in -law would have to show him respect in the future, and I will be forced to listen to his commands…"
Hilla Holt did not even need to finish her sentence. Lysa Layla and Rudi Anderson's faces had already turned pale at that point.
Hilla would not be lenient when it came to reporting those who bullied her.
...
Ever since Bruce Anderson got into the accident, every decision in the family, no matter how big or small it was, was handled by Master Anderson.
Rudi Anderson was shrinking away while trembling. He dared not look into Master Anderson's face. Nervously, he said, "I… I did not! That woman is spouting nonsense!"
"Father, Rudi would never say such a thing! He's always been obedient to your every word!"
Master Anderson had not spoken a word, but both Rudi and his mother were already scared and drenched in their own sweat.
Hilla Holt was standing at the side, not caring of the aftermath. Orlenna Organa pretended not to hear anything.
Master Anderson scoffed coldly and said, "You lot wish for my early death so that you can gain control of the Anderson family, right?"
"Grandfather, it's not like that! That woman hit me! She's purposely trying to push the blame!"
"Hilla is not just 'that woman', she's your sister-in -law! Not an outsider!" Orlenna scoffed coldly. Even though Hilla had literally just come into the family, after listening to Orlenna defending her, Hilla felt really touched.
"Get out. From now on, without my permission, none of you will ever set foot into the main mansion ever again!"
The old master's voice was firm. He was angry, but he controlled himself well. It was as if he had already anticipated such a move and was already mentally prepared for it. He was angry, but not to the point where he would endanger his health.
"We'll take our leave, Grandfather."
The moment they heard that they could leave, both Rudi and his mother left the building at lightning speed.
At that moment, the thought of seeking retribution for being injured in the head vanished instantly. Forget about taking Hilla Holt to the police station, they were already lucky enough to be able to preserve their lives.
When the old master was young, he had served in the army. Rumor had it that the man could beat a man to death. Even now, when he was old, no one besides Bruce Andersons could challenge the old man's stance.
"Are you alright?"
After the son and his mother left the mansion, Orlenna could finally sigh in relief. She looked at Hilla worriedly and said, "Next time, come to me if you encounter any problems. I will speak for you. In terms of… physical retributions… please refrain yourself from acting on your own."
'Is she saying… she would find someone else to… do the retribution?'
Hilla looked suspiciously at Orlenna. She was the prime example of a rich lady of a prestigious family. She did not look like someone who would… beat someone.
After that incident, Rudi Anderson never returned to the mansion. Hilla spent her days in peace. On the other hand, with orders from Orlenna Organa, the people who tended to Hilla started to behave more attentively.
Every morning and every night, she would give Bruce Anderson a full body wipe down. When she could feel Orlenna standing behind her, Hilla's hand movement would become extra attentive.
Even though she looked like a meek young lady, her strength was to be commended because she was trained in martial arts. Orlenna was surprised when she heard that she had managed to throw Rudi Anderson on the ground.
"I'll send someone to prepare supper."
Seeing Orlenna leave her alone, Hilla finally breathed normally. She pulled Bruce closer to her and simply dragged the wet towel over his body.
"I'm tolerating you only because my temper is good.
"If the Holt family weren't bankrupt, do you really think I would be taking care of you? I really do wonder where you got your luck…"
Hilla's hands did not stop moving as her lips did not stop complaining. All of a sudden, Hilla's hand could feel something was wrong with Bruce Anderson.
Surprised, the towel in her hands froze in place. She glared at the spot that had risen up on the blanket.
Did she do something wrong?
"I've called someone to fetch you some warm milk. Do you want anything for the night?"
Orlenna came into the room. A cup of warm milk was sitting on the tray in her hands.
When Hilla heard her, she quickly grabbed the corner of the blanket and pulled them up until they covered Bruce's naked upper body, though no one knew whether it was because she felt guilty or whether it was because she felt embarrassed.
Her cheeks blushed madly as she turned to Orlenna and shook her head hard. She was not hungry. She did not want to eat anything at all!
