Today is a great day.
I can't stop being nervous, because if my plan doesn't work, then I'm dead. Not literally, but I'm sure I'll have a bad time.
At first, I thought of several ways to disappear without them noticing, but after much thought, I realized that with the skills and resources I have, I couldn't.
So, it's best that when I leave, I get as far away from Sabaody as possible.
Since everyone is just getting up and there are a few hours left until the execution begins, I approached a guy from the security detail, who had no idea what he did for work, and I told him to leave a bag in a specific, hidden place.
The bad thing is that I had to threaten him to make him do what I said and not even think about stealing anything in the bag. I wasn't going to trust a nobody. I wasn't going to think anyone I met was good, or else pirates wouldn't exist. Besides, being a celestial dragon generates a lot of resentment in these people.
I was plagued by doubts, and I decided to send two more guys with him, threatening them with the same classic threat: if they didn't do it, they'd send the materials to their parents, their cousins, their grandparents, their grandfather, etc., like Pablo Escobar. Plus, if one of them thought differently, I had one or two people who wouldn't make a mistake and would make them do what I said. It takes three to reach an agreement.
Once all that was done, I just had to wait for us to go see the live execution in a comfortable place in one of the Sabaody plazas.
Once we'd all had breakfast and were dressed, we left.
As we walked to our stop, I told him a story from a classic Disney story, in this case, Sleeping Beauty. I'm always telling him stories from different tales that I record, both for Dianna and Alex. More so for Dianna these days.
Once we arrived at a place where we were going to stop to watch the current pirate king's latest show, I decided to begin my plan to disappear from here.
Dante: "Hey, brother Ramses, I'm going to the bathroom and I'll be right back."
Ramses: "Okay, don't take too long."
Dante: "Understood, I'm going to the hotel bathroom. Running shouldn't take me long."
At that moment, I stopped and stared at Dianna.
Dante: "Dianna, you want candy."
She stared at me.
Dianna: "Always," with a smile.
I nodded and ran off with my sword.
It didn't take me long to get to the hotel. I entered fairly quickly, got to my room, and took out a large bag of candy I had hidden, leaving it in Dianna's room.
Thank goodness I'm leaving. Maybe with me, she'll end up with diabetes, or worse, end up crazy like Big Mom, but hey, that should be enough to keep her from being too upset with me when she finds out I'm gone. I don't know what will become of her or what she'll become once I'm gone, but I've done everything I could. I can't stop my dream just because of that, and I know she'll be okay.
Once I left the hotel, I went to the place where I was hiding and my things. Luckily, it was there, along with all the things I had inside. I knew that with the guys I hid, they'd know I'd escaped, but I didn't care; I'd be long gone.
I changed into some very ordinary pants and a shirt, like a traveler's, put on a wool hat that covers all my hair, the kind that's a bit long, and ran off to the place where the merchant ships are.
As I arrived, I grabbed some sunglasses to cover my eyes and started walking around, looking at the ships that were already ready to depart.
I felt like everything was fine until I came across one that looked like it was about to depart.
I approached and spoke to it.
Dante: "Hello sir, this is your merchant ship. I see it's about to depart. I'd like to accompany you on your journey. I'll pay you generously."
The man stared at me for a moment and said, "How curious. Usually, mercenaries are the ones who ask me for money based on their services, not the other way around."
I didn't understand why he'd said that until I realized it was because of the sword. During all this time, I'd forgotten that he could recognize me by the sword, since its shape is so unique.
My method of anonymity was immediately rendered useless, so my plan was already in jeopardy. I had to leave as soon as possible.
I calmed down and answered.
Dante: "You're mistaken, sir. I'm a solitary traveler, so I carry this sword to defend myself. I actually write books."
The man looked at me curiously and said:
???: "Do you know how to use that sword?" I nodded.
??: "Then there's no problem. As long as you help us confront potential pirates, I can tell you the price of the trip, very cheap."
Dante: "Then it's a deal. My name is Dan."
Sarmonie: "Same here, my name is Sarmonie Obslingi."
At that moment, I realized they were watching Roger's execution through those conch shells that transmit image and audio.
At that moment, they were walking toward the place of his death, and everyone already knows what happened.
(Author's note: I'm too lazy to write the whole scene, since most people already know what happens. If not, just watch the first episode of One Piece and that's it.)
The screams can be heard all around. I realized it was time to start, so I stood next to Sarmonie and told her.
Dante: "We'd better leave immediately, so we don't run into the pirates who are going to come looking for the pirate king's treasure."
Sarmonie looked at me and assisted.
She stood in front of her people and ordered them to leave immediately.
Everyone took their positions. I stayed in a corner on the side of the ship, watching it move away from the Archipelago.
I thought everything was done, but at that moment the alarm sounded.
???: "PIRATES!!!"
In the distance, I could see a ship getting closer and closer to us.
I grabbed my sword, positioned myself in a relatively safe place, waited, and watched as the conflict unfolded.
The ships began firing at each other. Neither ship was large, but neither was small. As they attacked, they got closer and closer to each other, until it reached a point where it was only with difficulty that one could reach from one ship to the other, and that's when I acted.
I leaned over the edge and jumped onto the other ship. There, in the air, I saw a pirate doing the same. I looked at him and slashed at the guy. He couldn't defend himself in the air. It was also very sudden, so the blow hit him full force, and he fell into the sea, most likely dead. It's worth mentioning that this wasn't the first time he'd killed, so he's not half a fool after doing that.
As I landed on the other ship, the robbery began. I saw some people from the merchant ship also jump onto the pirate ship, and vice versa.
Slash after slash, the fight unfolded. Thanks to my sword and my superior strength, I couldn't take them down one by one. The problem was that I was fighting 1 against 2 or 1 against 3, which made it take much longer to finish them off.
Thanks to my support, the pirate ship was losing more crew.
Then I saw how the guy, who appeared to be the captain, seemed to turn his arm into a cannon. I realized I had to act.
I positioned myself, raised my sword, and prayed for the attack to come out. I forgot to mention that I couldn't perform a ranged attack yet, and seeing that I wouldn't make it in time, it was the only thing I could do to stop it.
With all the concentration I had, I looked at the pirate and...
I threw my sword. Since I couldn't perform slashing energy attacks, it was the only thing I could do. I wasn't going to rely on an attack that might not work.
With the help of the goddess of luck, the attack landed him dead. Being distracted, he couldn't dodge it, and it destroyed half of his neck, killing him instantly, nearly decapitated.
After the death of his captain, everything went smoothly; the pirate ship was destroyed, and we left with very few casualties.
Everyone on the boat congratulated me for my contribution, and Captain Sarmonie approached me.
Sarmonie: "Thanks a lot, kid. Without you, you could have been in a bad way."
Dante: "It was nothing, it was part of the deal."
I settled in and looked at the boat's condition. It was a little shabby, but it could continue its journey without any problems.
Sarmonie: "If this is going to be a regular occurrence, then we'll have to make a detour at Water 7 to fix things up and get some better ones on the boat."
That's when I realized he didn't know where we were going, so I asked him.
Dante: "Captain, where is the boat headed?"
He stared, pulled a pike out of nowhere, inhaled, and said to me.
Sarmonía: "Alabasta."
